Arthur Werner Moving & Storage, Inc. Reviews (5)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

There was no appointment made to view and identify items needed to be shipped. There are 2 boxes missing plus 2 chairs. The 2 boxes were picked up from our apartment but not shipped. If we don't get the 1500$ - we will move out items from storage.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Unfortunately, we seem to have a difference of understanding in this matter.  There was an appointment scheduled to review the substantial amount of items being shipped from the apartment as well as items that were in storage.  The appointment was cancelled by the customer.  Our warehouse manager then needed to review all items over the phone and there were several miscommunications.  We have offered to remove 50% of the current balance of the storage bill as a concession of good faith so that we split the difference.  This is $750. We feel this is a fair resolution.

We regret any inconvenience the customer may be experiencing.  We feel that both parties have responsibility for this situation.  The customer had made an appointment to come to our warehouse to identify the pieces that were supposed to be shipped vs. the pieces that would remain in...

storage.  Due to the large number of items and the potential for mix-up, this is important and the customer was advised.  The customer never showed up for that appointment.  Some days later, she requested to do this process over the phone which we agreed to do but which is not standard operating procedure. There was some difficulties in identifying the boxes over the phone which should be shipped as we were not able to open and identify contents so our warehouse manager shipped those that were requested.  We also had the understanding that the chairs which were initially supposed to be shipped were then not supposed to be shipped.  At the last minute, we did not update the inventory listing.  The customer still has household contents in our storage as well as the pieces in question.  The current balance due is $1,500.  We feel this was an error caused by the confusion of trying to identify a large number of items as a favor to the customer who was not able to come in person to identify the contents and they agreed to this process.  We would be willing to issue a credit to their storage account of half the balance due which is $750.

Review: Arthur Werner Moving and Storage moved our household goods from South Salem NY to Stamford CT. During the move-out they removed the pedal mechanism from the piano; when they delivered the piano to our new home they were unable to assemble it and damaged it in the process. [redacted] agreed to reimburse us for the repair cost: $150.00. Although [redacted] continues to tell us that a check and release form has been mailed, it now has been over three weeks and we have not received the promised reimbursement.Desired Settlement: We wish [redacted] to honor their commitment to reimburse us for the $150.00 cost of the piano repair.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: I hired movers from Arthur Werner for my moving on 7/26/2013. I was moving from White Plains to New York City. I did not have many things to move but I chose Arthur Werner (despite their high price than others) because they are on Revdex.com and has decent reviews. When the movers are done, I noticed two 2 to 3 inches red marks on my navy sofa. The damaged areas were wet. The foreman named [redacted] was keep on saying this is NOT their fault because he worked more than 10 years as a mover, the blankets that covered sofa was not wet (I do NOT know). The red stains (damage) on the sofa was visible that there's no way I could miss it before moving. It's the sofa I sleep occationally and I know it very well. It is obvious that the movers damaged the sofa during moving because it wasn't there before and the fact that it was wet and smelled like bleach tells me they were trying to clean it. I cannot believe a Revdex.com rated company cannot even handle a small move and trying to get away from a damange.

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

[redacted] was telling me that they are NOT responsible for the damage because he cannot see any evidences, which he could easily hide anyways. When I asked for some refund, he called his manager and explained him how he did NOT damage the sofa. Of course, they denied to refund. Instead, he told me that their claim department will call me the next day and inspect the issue to see if they can refund or not. I did NOT get any phone calls from them. I paid the full price $775+Tip, expecting the inspc

We did not ever receive a claim from this customer and are not aware of the damage he is describing. If the customer would like to submit a claim, we will process it through the appropriate channels. The customer can even try to email a photo of the damage in the claim and we will investigate. The customer moved in one day from point A to point B. We do not carry bleach on our trucks nor was it raining the day of the move for anything to be wet. Our blankets are blue and there is no red on them. Doesn't seem likely that a stain can not come from a moving situation. If customer would like to file a claim, we would be happy to investigate. Please send it to my attention: [redacted]@arthurwerner.com

Consumer Response /* (3000, 12, 2013/08/19) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

I chose [redacted] Werner because they were on Revdex.com. They were higher in price than other competitors but I was expecting a great service because they were on Revdex.com. After the incident I had, I hope any other's who comes to Revdex.com to find a great moving company do not chose [redacted] Werner. Being on Revdex.com does not mean they will always be great and trustworthy.

On July 26th, I had three movers came to my one bedroom apartment in White Plains to move furniture and boxes to my new one bedroom apartment in NYC. I only had 4 or 5 furniture and 4 boxes, which was fairly small for moving.

When they arrived at my new apartment at NYC, they started to remove the covers from furniture. I noticed two red stains that were about a size of my finger on my navy sofa. The sofa was the one I use to nap and sit to watch TV and play games and spend most of my time at home so I knew there weren't any stains before moving. The red stains were wet as well. I asked the movers what happened and the foreman named [redacted] told me it's not something from their side. He smelled the stained area and told me it smells like bleach and they do not carry any bleach. Also, he told me the blankets that covered the sofa were not wet. I told them the stains were not there before moving and if they were there, I would have mentioned about it before moving. However, [redacted] Werner kept on saying, 1) "We did not have any bleach." 2) "The blankets that covered sofa were not wet." 3) "Therefore, it's not our fault!"

After multiple complains on the moving date, [redacted] told me he already contacted the claim department and they will call me within a day for an investigation. So, I paid the price and waited for the call. They never called me back. I submitted a complain through Revdex.com. Arthur Werner responded back saying I never submitted a claim and is not aware of damage that I was describing.

I am angry because [redacted] told me like everything was under control and claim was already submitted. If I were to submit a claim now after a month, it is too late because the stained areas are already wet. Also, I do not have pictures of the sofa before moving to prove that the stains weren't there. Who takes picture of the furniture for no reason before moving? It was the sofa I spent most of my time at home so I know it wasn't damaged. When something happens to the furniture after moving, it is the mover's fault no matter what evidence they tried to show. The sofa was fine at point A then at point B, there are red stains. It's very simple. All they did was trying to get away with it by saying, "We do not have bleach and it smells like bleach", "It's wet and the blankets are not wet". How the hack is it my fault when the sofa was in their truck and suddenly there are red stains? No apologies were made. The foreman lied that he submitted claim for me. Claiming that they are not responsible for the obvious damage done while moving.

Arthur Werner should not be on Revdex.com and customers who are looking for good movers should not choose Arthur Werner. I hope a customer like me can read my review and choose wisely when looking for trustworthy movers.
