Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/05/25) */
First off we're sorry to hear of her dissatisfaction with her choices, especially since we were under the assumption that everything was fine. After all, we were offered another job by this customer after these cabinets were completed, which was...

June of 2011. As for the job in question, according to the contractor she hired, we did what she asked for. We let them know before we even began the job that we don't bake our finishes and that they needed to look into getting an outside painter to do the finishing using automotive paint. They chose to have us get as close as we could to what she was looking for. That was their decision.
We installed edge protectors after she requested them as she stated. We did so without question as to what caused the damage to the cabinets. This has been the only time a homeowner has ever asked for them and/or needed them, but we did it anyway at no cost to the customer.
As for prepping the wood before painting, we always have and always will apply primer to our cabinets before we paint. We even offered the customer vinyl wrapped doors and drawer fronts from an alternative supplier that would be more suitable for painted cabinets, which most customers opt for. This offer was turned down by the customer as they claimed it was not within their budget.
A refund is not deserved in this instance as this customer was given ample notice, opportunity and options before, during and after the cabinets were completed.
It appears to me the customer finally wants to take our advice on getting an outside painter to do the job but wants us to pay for it as their budget was used up. I'm sorry but we will not be held responsible for a customer changing their mind after the job has been done.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/06/03) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I strongly protest: I will answer to each one of their arguments or allegations:
1. I am not dissatisfied with my choices, I am dissatisfied with the quality of their work. The only choice I am dissatisfied with is the selection of my cabinet maker.
2.We had them do another job for us within 6 month of the completion of the first job. It was too early to tell that they did not deserve our 2nd order.
3. I was not informed that they could not bake the cabinets like Lowe's did until after they started installing them. When I noticed they were not comparable to the sample I gave them I asked asked Ed about it. I was told, "we do not have the baking capacity but these are also good qualilty, you can wipe down and clean them (which was my main need).
4. They never mentioned automotive paint. I think they took the idea and language from my complaint and used it to misrepresent the facts. No other painter was suggested, either. They were too eager to take my order.
5. They installed the edge covers upon my request and for the first time in their business history: They are probably right about this, since they never had to make painted cabinets before. For painting to come out smooth they have used very soft wood like MDF. Or they did not sand off the wood and prime it to make the paint stick. Again, they never did painted cabinets before, so they had no experience.
6. Soft wood chipped off easily so it started denting. I had to request and literally beg until they installed the edge protectors.I believe they realized that they were getting off easy by installing the protectors.
7. Another proof of no primer is that one time water damage under the sink and the paint is literally chipping off. If the paint job was done properly water damage would look different but not chip off completely.
8.I have yet to bring up the inferior quality Lazy Suzan they have installed. It has plastic shelves that cannot bear much weight. They drag the central pole down making it difficult to open and close the Lazy Suzan easily. I had to call Ed a few times to come and adjust the installation. But since that was not the problem, he could never fix it. I stopped calling.
I am willing to: have them pay for the painting from the painter of my choice, instead of a refund, plus the reinstallation of a functional Lazy Suzan.
5.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2016/07/06) */
Get a quote of what it would cost to refinish the cabinets from a painter that you trust. After you get your estimate, we'll schedule a painter to get with you and give you another quote. After these quotes both come in, we'll look at them, make sure both painters are quoting what you're asking for then we can figure out, before they actually do the job, how much we'll be able to assist.
Like we said before, we won't pay for the entire refinish. After we see what the job will actually cost we'll be able to figure where we can help.
Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 15, 2016/07/15) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Ok. We will find someone. Let me know when your person is able to come.
