A&S Installation Reviews (%countItem)

This company does shoddy work and they don't care about their customers. In addition to that, they overcharge for their poor workmanship. To make matters worse, their customer service is horrid. Do not do business with this company!

On February 3, 2020 my dash camera became detached from my windshield so I went to the company that had installed it, A&S Installation, to have it reattached. The Technician Eric applied, by his own admission, poor quality double stick tape, used a heat gun to heat up the tape, and reattached the dash camera to my windshield. Shortly after leaving A&S I noticed that my rear dash camera was not working. I immediately returned to the shop and notified them. The owner Pete, told me not to worry, that if the camera was damaged, he would replace it. He had his Tech Eric look at it and five minutes later told me Eric couldn't figure out what was wrong with the camera and that he would not replace my camera despite previously promising to do so. When I arrived at A&S my dash camera was in perfect working order but Eric damaged it when he used the glue gun to reapply the camera to the windshield. When I got home the dash camera had fallen off of the windshield again and I noticed a white mark on the dash camera mounting plate from the glue gun that Eric had used. I also noticed that the area around the plug for the rear dash camera was discolored. The owner’s manual for the dash camera clearly states that heat should not be used on the mounting plate when the mounting plate is attached to the dash camera but that's exactly what Eric did. A&S Installation broke my dash camera, agreed to replace it at no cost, and then reneged on that promise. Businesses are responsible for their employee’s negligence. Given the situation, Pete from A&S Installation should have replaced my dash camera without a second thought.

A&S Installation Response • Feb 24, 2020

and her fiance came into our business on 02/03/20 and asked us to take a look at a product that she purchased and had installed at our location about 5 years earlier. We politely and professionally took a look at her vehicle, during our fist inspection we found that he dash camera was dangling by the wires in her vehicle, we informed her that we could use new double sided tape to repair attach the dash camera to the windshield, and I informed her that what we had available at the time was not as good as the factory adhesive. She agreed to have us repair the unit at no charge. About an hour after the customer left she came back with the vehicle and stated that her rear camera was no longer functioning correctly. We went out with her to check the problem and discovered that it was getting power and that most likely something was damaged while she was driving with the unit dangling by the wires.. After much discussion with the customer we offered to replace the unit at our cost even though it as a 5 year old system, We feel that we were more than fair with the customer but she is demanding that we replace the system at no charge. The customer has since called us threatening to leave terrible reviews on Facebook and Google. We politely told the customer that is her choice to do but we can not simply replace something that was purchased 5 years ago and dangling by the wires when she brought the vehicle to us.

I am rejecting this response because:

A&S Installation is not correctly portraying the situation. As soon as I noticed that my dash camera had been detached from the windshield I brought it to A&S. I also brought it back as soon I noticed that the rear dash camera was not working and it was by no means an hour. A&S is also conveniently omitting that the Technician Eric saw that the camera was working properly prior to applying the double stick tape to the camera mount. They are also failing to mention that the owner Pete offered to replace the camera at no charge and then reneged on that promise.

My fiancé and I called A&S Installation a couple of times to try to resolve this situation. We only resorted to posting completely honest reviews when A&S failed to properly address this situation. If A&S doesn't like the reviews and thinks that they are negative, they should have done the right thing. Like any business, A&S is responsible for their employee's negligence. The Technician Eric broke the dash camera when he applied the double stick tape to the camera mount with a heat gun while it was still attached to the camera which, according to the owner's manual, should not be done. If you apply heat to the camera, you will break part of the camera. We were not aware of this until after Eric had used the heat gun. Furthermore, the back camera was not dangling, it was the front camera so the assertion that the damage was done by the camera dangling is not correct. Regardless of the age of the camera, it was in perfect before Eric from A&S broke it and A&S is obligated to replace it at no cost.
