The customer had us install a boiler in December, Originally the boiler was to be vented in the chimney and the customer wanted to finish the basement and move the boiler to the rear of the houseTo install the boiler in the location desired by the customer the boiler would have to be direct
vented as there was no chimney in the rear of houseAll work was followed to code and inspected by the town inspectors1.) June 2, Customer called us to check the systemHot water was stratifying up the return pipe on one zone when the hot water zone was runningWe installed a check valve and that took care of the problem.2.) July 4, The customer's electrician doing work in the basement cut the wire going to the new boilerWe ran a temporary wire to a recepticle plug to give the customer hot water on the Holiday.3.) September 19,we had our electrician repair the cut wire4.) December 15, Customer called that they were re-setting the boilerOur technician replaced the oil filter and nozzle as it had been a year since we installed boilerHe installed a B oil burner nozzle(B is a solid nozzle)The original nozzle was a W nozzle (W is a semi-solid nozzle*** *** *** and *** *** *** *** suggest that either nozzle is recommendedThe pump pressure on the *** *** comes set at PSI. 5.) January 8, Customer called with no heatOur service tech installed a smaller nozzle and increased the pump pressure from to PSI to give better atomization of the oilHe did this because when the air coming into the oil burner is below zero the oil was more difficult to ignite. 6.) February 28, Customer called with no heat and burner wouldn't lightI met the technician at the housewe installed a W(semi-solid) nozzle and adjusted the electrode slightly. There were no burner related problems on this unit until December 15, when the unit was one year oldOil burners should be cleaned and checked once a yearIt had been a yearAlso, the three times that the burner the burner would not light the outside temperature was below zeroPart of the problem that the customer might be having is the quality of the heating oilHe does not purchase his heating oil from our companyWe treat our heating oil so that it hopefully burns betterI TOLD THE CUSTOMER THAT IF HE USES US AS HIS FUEL SUPPLIER I WOULD GIVE HIM A SERVICE PLAN FOR TWO YEARS AT NO CHARGE. I think the customer is all set but he must have his new unit serviced once a year by a qualified service company

[The color of the new tank was never an issue and is irrelevant. When the old tank was installed, I never smelled fumes of any kind. The fact that I live near a highway is a moot point. The smell started immediately after the new tank was installed. This complaint is not resolved. Is it possible for the company to file a warranty claim on the tank and replace it since it came with a year warranty? Otherwise I'm just looking for a full refund and they can remove their tank. ]

The problem is that no one has smelled any oil fumes except the customer. The Dedham Fire Department, several service technicians, and myself have not been able to detect any odors. One of my technician on a visit noticed a diesel pickup truck parked in a neighbors yard. I know that might be fishing for straws. The oil tank and connected fitting are solid with no drips or leaks. Maybe the customer is getting a backup of sewer gas or something else at night. Oil smell doesn't bleed through a steel oil tank unless there are leaks some place. We performed above and beyond what we should have and the installation is first class. If you want me to send pictures showing that their are no leaks I will. Please advise what you want us to do. We are not going to replace a perfectly good oil storage tank

We Replaced a fuel oil storage tank for [redacted] on 12/7/2015 as she had a small leak. After installation Ms. [redacted] complained to [redacted] from our company that she thought the oil tank was defective because it was black and not gray like her other tank. We have responded to numerous...

complaints of odors. Each time our service techs have found nothing wrong. We checked both of her furnaces and both of her oil tanks. There are no leaks or drips of oil or smell of any kind. [redacted] called the Dedham Fire Department on June 25, 2016. Deputy [redacted] responded with seven firefighters. My service tech on call also responded. The fire department found no leaks or odors. I went by [redacted]'s house today and met with her and checked for odors and leaks. There was no odor or leak of any kind. The only thing I can think of is that she lives on a major highway (route 1) and that she might be getting odors from diesel trucks that go by her door. I suggested that to her and she said she defintely smells oil at the oil tanks. I took pictures of the oil tanks and furnaces and there are absolutely no leaks or smell of any kind. It might be possible that she has super sensitive smell that others cannot smell. I did use a cleaner that she supplied me with and wiped down the fittings even though I couldn't smell anything. I don't know what else we can do.[redacted]MacFarlane Energy
