A.S.A.P. Towing Reviews (6)

Revdex.com:At this time, I have not been contacted by A.S.A.P. Towing regarding complaint ID [redacted].Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: I was towed over half an hour after ASAP claimed my offense while I was shopping in one of the designated retailers. According to their previous response they're only 10 minutes away. Even though slimy, I am reporting the exposure to credit fraud ASAP has exposed me to. ASAP towing office (if a dog urine saturated corridor can be called that ) had no identifiable business signs nor posted methods of payments (although an out of service ATM was provided). I also found it interesting that the cab driver knew exactly where to direct me given the lack of identification. ASAP's unidentifiable clerk behind a one way mirror took my ID and my [redacted] through the hole in the window before barking they didn't accept [redacted]. I have all of that on video as well as receipts for my time line that confirm when I was towed. In the time the unidentifiable clerk had my information he could have made copied my information. I will never know considering I had to give my information literally to a whole in a wall in order to get my car back.Desired Settlement: I want a refund or ASAP towing to pay for my fraud protection for the next year.

Review: This company towed my car from the parking lot of the 48 plaza which I believe is the property of Lerner and Heindberg properties, a mall development company. I was told that because I had parked my car in the lot and first escorted my son across [redacted] to to pick up a store delivered order on the east side the street, rather than going directly into National liquidators, toys r us and dunkin donuts, they had been authorized to tow and impound my car, by Lerner and Heindberg properties, in Maspeth Queens. This precluded any shoping in the stores noted above. When I was able to make my way to RSVP Towings unsigned impound facility I was told I could not have the car released , despite my having a license and the car registration because I had registered this car in my wife's first name and not my own . I was now required to have my wife driven from A non NYC county to Queens in order to have the car released back to me. When I contacted several of the merchants in 48 plaza regarding the incident they apologized but stated it was a policy issue action associated with Lerner and Heindberg properties who employ ASAP TOWING to engage in this activity. My wife wound up having to pay 136 dollars in towing fees to ASAP in addition to the cab transporting fees to reach their impound facility. I found the clerk behind the plexiglass barrier to be rude to me and irratic with others others at the facility that day who appear to have also been towed away in the same fashionDesired Settlement: I don't know what sort of problems 48 Plaza may have had for them to implement the " policy" claimed to have originated form L and H properties but frankly this really seems to border on car theft and extortion by them which will ultimatly result harm to the plazas merchants. I can tell you that though this may technically be legal I will never shop in an L and H properties mall again nor will I be a ever make use of the retailers who foolishly lease / rent retail space from them and I will advise those I meet to do the same if this is not resolved. This kind of action encourages folks to avoid shopping in NYC especially in areas that might benefit the most from it. The city council and brough presidents should be aware to this foolish and questionable practice of these two related companies. They are frankly just what we don't need in NYS.

Response:

The complainant admitted to crossing the street, this is the reason why he was towed. It is stated in our signs, in Bold Red & Black letter. THIS

PARKING LOT IS NOT FOR THE STORES ACROSS THE STREET. IF YOU LEAVE YOU'RE VEHICLE AND GO ACROSS THE STREET YOU WILL BE

TOWED IMMEDIATELY. Which also states in the www.nyc.gov Privet lots- WHEN A PARKING LOT IS RESERVED FOR CUSTOMERS AND YOU'RE

NOT EXCLUSIVELY DEALING WITH THE PROPRIETORS BUISNESS ITS UNLAWFUL TO PARK THERE. EVEN IF ONLY FOR A FEW MIN. This is also specified

in LAW 19-169.1 REMOVAL OF VEHICLES IMPROPERLY PARKED ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. WHERE A LICENSED TOW OPERATOR REMOVES A VEHICLE

BECUASE IT IS PARKED ON A PRIVATE PRPPETY IN A MANNER INCONSISTENT WITH THE POSTED INSTRUCTIONS. We get

our calls from the security on site which takes our driver 10min to get to the lot. As to the fact that he wasn't able to redeem his vehicle is

also stated on NYC.GOV REDEEM A TOWED VEHICLE Which states,

Can someone else get my vehicle back for me?

Yes, but they must have a notarized letter from the registered owner and the original title or registration (no copies).

What identification and documentation must I have to get my vehicle back?

•A valid Driver's License,

•The original vehicle registration stub (or the title),

The vehicle's Insurance Card

We have video surveillance that customer did see himself crossing the streets with another adult male; he was explained in detail why he was

towed and why we could not release the vehicle to anyone other than the register owner due to liability policies, unless they have notarized

letter from the register owner stating that he is allowed to pick up the vehicle. No one was rude just firm with the rules and regulation on

redeeming a towed vehicle. I

Review: ASAP Towing is in violation of our Predatory Towing Prevention Act due to inadequate sigfnage on Plaza 48.

On 10/*/2015 I parked my car to buy luggage from National Wholesale Liquidators but I stop by at [redacted]' first which was no more than 7 min, and made a purchase from National Wholesale Liquidators. (I can provide receipt) May car was towed within 15 minutes when I was shopping at National Wholesale Liquidator. There is a sign on the parking lot saying the spot is for certain retailers including National Wholesale Liquidators and since I bought from this retailer I was confident with parking. There is nothing mentioning on the sign that car would be towed if we go cross street first. I have noticed many people have the same complaints about this company for the same reason. They have been rude and they did not accept credit card from me due to possible dispute. This is an unethical and illegal business pratice.Desired Settlement: $136.09 for towing+ $20 taxi cost

Review: ASAP towing, I believe, practices illegal predatory towing. On May [redacted], I parked my car in a public parking lot by the shopping complex on [redacted] lot). I proceeded to purchase an iced tea from the [redacted] housed in the shopping complex (I parked right next to it), and then crossed the street to make a quick return in the [redacted] store. I returned to my parking space within 15-20 minutes, and found my car was nowhere in sight. Apparently, ASAP towed my car in the 15-20 minutes it was out of my sight. I called the number on the placcards in the lot, and they proceeded to claim that the only way to get my car back is take a cab to the tow lot and pay $136.09. There was no discussion here whatsoever. I proceeded to do this and took a $20 cab ride to ASAP's towing lot. When arriving at the lot, I asked the teller (behind a plexiglass wall) to review the footage so he can see that I did make a purchase in the shopping complex and that I was entitled to park in that lot. He refused to do this and said to contact [redacted], if I had problems. The teller refused to review the footage and said I would have to pay the $136.09 if I wanted my car back.

ASAP towing towed my car out of the lot within 15 minutes when I was a shopper in that shopping complex - this is quite an unethical and almost illegal business practice.Desired Settlement: I would like the refund of $136.09+$20 cab ride, total refund $156.09.
