Price Gounging
My husband and I are both on Social Security Disability. I have been getting the paper for over a year and started with $13.00 a month. After 3 months the price was going to change but was able to call and have it reduced back to 13.00 a month. Now this year 2020 in Feb I get a bill for 51.00. Customer Service was nice at the time and said disregard the bill. March came with a 71.00 bill, and what made it worse they took out 24.00 3 times. I called my bank and reported them as fraud, so after 3 days the Asbury Park Press put back 48.00, but now I got my June bill and they want 62.50. They are price gouging. and now I have cancelled the paper effective Monday June 8th and will report them to Consumer Affairs, being BBB does not handle this problem. I will not play games with a corrupted paper. There are numerous complaints on the internet about the Asbury Park Press playing games with pricing.

on april 6th of this month, the press finally again reduced the price of their paper to the amount I had been previously paying .though they said by their own letters would never change,to $13.00 a month. I had my bank send them $40.00. Since I am a disabled veteran, with very limited income, I thought with all the correspondence between us,that this was cut and dried,ya think! here it is april 29th and NO PAPER! EVER! they have my money, and don't even acknowledge that they have it. I intend to file my complaint with the FCC under the Disability act.no newspaper should do this, much less to a disabled veteran.

This is the worst. 40 years after getting this paper delivered, last year they notified I would be paying $60 mo. starting Aug. 2018. Went on line Discounted Newspapers, after cancelling paper, and waiting 30 days, new amount $28 mo. starting Oct. 2018. Now just got letter stating starting 7/1/2019 APP would be $42.00. They are totally out of their crazy minds. Why is everyone paying different prices? This ought be investigated. However, BBB does not deal with price complaints.

Customer Service is terrible. Just went online to cancel our subscription because we are moving. Nowhere online can you cancel your subscription! So I began a chat with a representative, who took at least five minutes each time to answer a question...ugh!

Review: My subscription and agreement to receive the paper ended in December and the company continued to delivery and charge me for the paper that I did not authorized. I called many times trying to stop this unethical charges however after being on hold for customer service numerous times for over 30 minutes at a time I was unable to. I then tried by their website and email to stop these charges and delivery however their website doesn't let you stop it and I received a email stating I had to call which is almost impossible. They have no right to bill me since I did not authorize the renewal of the paper. I also checked with my husband and we have not received the paper each week. I called customer service today and spoke to [redacted] and she refused not charge me $40.00 dollars even after I explain the unethical practices of the paper and my attemp to stop this even though I did not authorize the continual delivery after December.Desired Settlement: Clear my account of the billing charges from January to current of the $40.00 plus charges and ensure my account is closed.

Review: I called Asbury park press (APP) during the last 2 weeks and told them that previously I called in Nov. about not getting my newspaper and again it happened approx 2weeks ago. Also I complained about Jan 3, 2015's paper because it was soaking wet. and I had to put it in my patio to dry . when it did dry it was impossibel to turn pages to read.

well today is jan 18th and again I have a soaking wet paper. the paper has only 1 plastic bag (usually the paper is put into 2 plastic bags when the weather forecast is "rain".

Also I did not receive the paper on Friday Jan 16, 2015.

This is just terrible customer service and has been ongoing since November 2014. Although they issued a credit supposedly for Nov issues., I tried to explain that I look for the paper for current events, events to go to such as concerts and sales at stores, and the coupon sections. All that is lost all these weeks!!! I also complained that they did not issue a full credit for the November missing papers. I had a total of 8 papers not received and because I said to the app staff member " the week of Nov. etc etc } they only credited me for 1 day instead all 3 that I get the paper on (fri, sat, & sun).

therefore I am looking for 2014's credit in full and Jan 3, 16,&18, 2015.Desired Settlement: therefore I am looking for 2014's credit in full and Jan 3, 16,&18, 2015.

And delivery of the paper on Fri & Sunday

Delivery of dry paper not soaking wet

delivery to peoples door should be a must because this happens too much and I don't mean throwing my paper because they did that and broke my window 2 times which I never charged them .

Review: I obtained an Ad Quote Order Confirmation NO [redacted] for an ad type ASB-COL Liner Price $49.50 to run an ad in print and online for a garage sale on Fri 5/8/15 and Sat 5/9/15 for a sale on 5/9. The ad was run on 5/8/15 but not on 5/9/15. In my experience, potential customers who check sales ads on Friday will check again on Saturday. Not finding the ad that day, the natural conclusion is that the sale was cancelled. By failing to run the ad on Saturday the APP not only caused me to loose any customers who might have seen it that day but also cost me potential customers who had seen it the day before and concluded the sale t had been cancelled.

My Sun 5/10/15 email request for a refund of the $49.50 sent to [redacted] was returned by the server as undeliverable. My 5/11/15 letter to Ms. C[redacted] their Customer Service Contact has not been answered.Desired Settlement: Since whatever consequential damages the APP caused me by their botched performance are difficult to ascertain, I would be willing to accept a refund of the $49.50 I paid for what turned out to be not a service, but a disservice.

Either a credit card credit or a check would be acceptable.

Review: They keep charging my credit card for a service I do not have and when I called them in the past they admitted that the subscription was terminated. They will not allow me to speak to accounting and after many calls I finally got a credit on my statement. This month they did it again. I was charged $23 and then $6 for the subscription I do have. I need them to credit me back the money they charged me I need to see proof that they have canceled any charges other than the $6.Desired Settlement: I want them to guarantee me this will never happen again. If it does I want them to cancel all charges on my account and give me the $6 service for free as I will have to block my bank from sending them any money from my account

Review: The advertising supplement of the Asbury Park Press - known as the Community Shopper - continues to be delivered to my address. I have never asked for it to be delivered here; and have repeatedly asked that my name and address be removed from the Asbury Park Press data files.Desired Settlement: Request that my name and address be removed from the Asbury Park Press data files, that no publication/product whatsoever that is produced by the Asbury Park Press be delivered to my house; and that a letter acknowledging that this request was made to resolve this complaint without litigation, be mailed to my house.

Review: I ordered home delivery of the Asbury Park Press in the middle of Aug. 2013. I never received a newspaper, I called three times to complain about no delivery. I finally cancelled the order. I am still receiving bills in the mail on 12/7/13. I have called the newspaper seven times cancelling the order. My accouint number is [redacted]Desired Settlement: Cancel my order and don't receive any more bills in the mail.

Review: I got a mailer stating that the paper would be $.99 for the first 26 weeks. I called to subscribe and I was told it was only for Sunday. It does not say that on the mailer;and the code is 6-JJ.

This to me is either false advertising or switch and bate.Desired Settlement: I would like the Asbury Park Press for the 26 weeks at $.99 per week as advertised.

Review: Re: duplicate subscriptions. 1) 4/26/14. $23.00 for 7day delivery of Asbury Park Press 2) fraudulent charge on 5/2/14 for another subscription for $24.54.

I have contacted the newspaper 4x since I noticed the charges to my credit card and a full refund of $24.54 has not been applied.

Both, authorized and unauthorized, subscriptions were cancelled by me upon discovery on 5/17/14.

I have left messages on corporate telephones and spoke with four (4) customer service representatives and they all say that an investigation will be sent to their supervisors [redacted] Louisville KY) and yet there isn't a direct line for this person and I can't get a written letter or email confirmation.

This is a fraudulent charge and I definitely believe this is an issue for the Revdex.com to investigate.

Thank you

Please email [redacted]) an acknowledgement of this request.Desired Settlement: A full refund of $24.54 to my charge card along with a notion of fraudulent business practices and handling of same.
