Ascent Roofing Reviews (1)

These are the problems we are having with Ascent Roofing, Rep. [redacted]
1. Ascent's contract proudly displayed the Revdex.com Accredited Business emblem. They are not, unless having a couple of complaints on file against them counts as accreditation.
2. [redacted] assured us that his roofers had experience with roofs that have solar panels. When the roofers arrived and looked up, they were dumbfounded. They did eventually get to work and the roof passed inspection.
3. [redacted] assured us that it would not be necessary to remove and reattach the solar panels (we don't like anyone messing with electronics that are working), and that his team knew how to â??feather inâ? the new roofing material. However, when it came to the extra $4600 that our insurance paid to remove and reattach solar panels, he needed that money because, â??That is what it costs.â? No, that's just what he charged us. Turns out, no special treatment was required to feather in the shingles, lifting one panel leg at a time, and the roofing was completed in 2 days just like everyone else in the neighborhood. We were duped on that one.
4. The roofers left 7 unopened packages of shingles out for our trash co. to haul off. Likewise we picked up 0ver 100 nails in the driveway where they had parked the dumpster.
5. It was over a month later when the gutters went up. Then they left the corners off for a week while it rained, seeping 30+ gallons into the basement. When they â??finishedâ? the job, every corner was crooked and leaked (we have pictures). The subcontractor admitted it was a shabby job, as the water cascaded down the front window. [redacted] claimed it's not his fault, it's not his company, because he subcontracted the gutters (?!). He also claimed that new downspouts were not part of the job. They were, as per contract. When his gutter outfit returned to fix the job, they were not able to produce identification, and admitted that they would hire illegals. So we refused to let them on the property.
120 days after signing the contract, we've hired a real professional outfit to tear off these cheap gutters and replace them with something better (you could poke holes in the cheap stuff with a pushpin). We'll be hiring someone else do replace the window frames as well; [redacted] never sent anybody to do those. We gave him $10,000 up front on signing â?? that was our mistake â?? and while he hasn't earned that much, we do not want him or his workers near our house again.
