Ashber Home Improvement Reviews (%countItem)

Ashber has done numerous projects for my family. From installing a new deck and new 6ft privacy fence to replacing my entire roof. The owners are very friendly and professional. I have had minor repairs in my home and always called Gary from Ashber. He would come out and address my issues immediately and explain any work that needed to be done.

I will be calling them for my kitchen remodel next month.

Gary came out last minute and quoted me much lower than other people to replace our hot water heater that spring a leak. We simply went to Home Depot picked the water heater and supplies per the list he gave us, paid and set it up for him to pick them up on the day the work was set to be done!! So Simple and less stressful for those like us on a budget!!! He was super helpful and got the job done quick! He's also done some bulk trash removal for us when we put in a new dishwasher and had a new mattress delivered. He again was much more affordable than 99% of the other companies I called for removal estimates!! I'd highly recommend Gary and his team for any work you need done in your home! He's my 1st goto when we needed a quote for new gutters, and I have him coming out again to quote some bigger renovation jobs for the future in our home!!!

Tina,

Thank you for your continued business. We feel blessed to have the opportunity to work for our clients and truly appreciate your business.

Gary & Kristin

We hired Ashber Home Improvement to finish our basement. Gary came and discussed our options to layout the floor plan and answered all our questions. He was over 1000 under my other estimates and was tremendously helpful.

The basement turned out great and Gary and his crew even did a few extra touches that really made things pop!

Will be using them again for other remodeling needs.

This company improperly installed a roof that caused structural damage to the roofs frame which has also caused much more now needed repairs.
The roof was installed on 9/15/2017 prior to the sale of the property that settled on 9/26/2017. The roof began leaking on the very first rain since the installation on 10/10/2017. The roof came with a 25 year warranty. The company was contacted and they accepted full responsibility for all and any damages from the roof leaking verbally over the phone. They sent an employee out to the house on 10/10/2017 with a roll of duct tape to wrap around the chimney where the water was coming in. He did not address any other issues that were caused by this leak. He said that *** would come to further access the situation the following day. On 10/11/2017, the front bedroom began leaking. Within the next couple of days, I had an appointment with Gary on 4 different occasions and he did not show up for any of them. Therefore, I had to hire a roofer to further diagnose the situation. As it turns out, the entire roof was installed incorrectly all the way around. They did nothing properly and damaged the existing framing structure. They did not use fire rdant wood as required by code and they did not obtain the permits necessary to even do any of the work. I obtained 3 estimates to correct this issue and they ranged from $9000-$15000. Because of the extensive amount of repairs, it is very obvious that this company does not know how to PROPERLY install a roof. This company is fraud. The license for the business is under the name of ***. She is the wife of the non-licensed individual, *** whom is selling home improvement projects while also constructing them illegally under her license.

Desired Outcome

was hired to correct and fix all of the damages that Ashber created. Not only did they install the roof improperly, they caused alot of damage to the roofs structure while doing so. The cost for these repairs total $9000.00. Therefore, I am seeking a total payment of $9000.00 from Ashber Home Improvement to compensate for this issue.

Ashber Home Improvement Response

No work was done by Ashber Home Improvement for Mrs.. She purchased a house that was what we can assume was inspected. No money has ever been received by Mrs..

And, to address 2 items in your email

1- Code in our county doesn't not require fire rdant plywood when the roof is lower and meets a wall on the adjoining home.

2- I own Ashber Home Improvement, I took and received my MHIC license. My husband being an officer of my company and who does work for the company is in no way illegal. My business is licensed, insured and bonded. In the state of Maryland I can hire any unlicensed sub contractor as well. They no longer require their own license.

This email is slander, Mrs. is not correct in her statements and it is a shame she was taken advantage of by our competitor who convinced her she needed to waste $9000

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Ashber Home Improvement was hired to replace the entire roof located @ ***.

This property was under going a Residential Contract of Sale and went under contract on August 18, 2017.

*** was the homeowner at that time and was selling the house to ***. Upon the inspection of the house it was discovered that the entire roof needed to be completely removed and replaced. Therefore, to continue to move forward with the sale, *** (buyer) requested that *** (seller) have the entire roof removed and replaced by a licensed and insured contractor in the State of Maryland. *** agreed to have the roof replaced entirely so that *** (buyer) would still move forward with the purchase of the house.

*** than hired Ashber Home Improvement to remove and replace the entire roof. Ashber Home Improvement completed this job on 09/10/2017 as stated on their invoice. Ashber Home Improvement also provided a 25 year leak proof warranty for this property. These documents were proof that the roof was removed and replaced as requested.

On September 26,2017 this property went to settlement and on this day *** became the new homeowner of this property. September 26, 2017 was also the day that Ashber Home Improvement was compensated for their services.

On October 10, 2017 the ceiling in the back bedroom began leaking. Ashber Home Improvement was the company who installed the roof so they were contacted immediately and *** admitted fault and insisted he would be by to take care of all of the damages immediately. He never showed. The following day the front bedroom ceiling began leaking, Ashber was contacted again and at this point was avoiding the situation. After numerous NO SHOWED scheduled appointments with *** and non communication from his wife *** I gave up on trying to get them to replace the damages. I needed this roof replaced asap before all of my ceilings collapsed.

At this point I hired 3 different roofing companies to evaluate the roof and they all came to the same conclusion. The roof was improperly installed from start to finish and that the individual installing the roof had absolutely no roof installing experience which would be *** whom is NOT a licensed Home Improvement Contractor that conducts business under his wife's license.

The Harford County Dept of Licensing and Permits confirmed that you must obtain a permit when removing a roof completely and that you MUST use fire rdant on any conjoining homes such as a townhouse. This property is classified as a town house. Ashber Home Improv. did NONE of the above. They did not obtain a permit or use fire rdant plywood.

I have attached:

Pictures of the mess that the improperly
installed roof caused.

Ashber's Invoice

Ashber's 25 Year Roof Warranty

Proof that Ashber was paid for the services

All three estimate from other roof companies proving that they improperly installed the roof.

A text message sent from *** himself admitting fault but yet did nothing about it.

This situation has caused me so much grief, time and money. This is so unfair that these contractors can go out in our communities and cause situations like this for homeowners and get away with it.

I will not back down until this company compensates me for everything I have lost because of their very poor workmanship. I will see to it that they never are able to do this to anyone else ever again!
