We placed our application for an apartment in early May We paid $total$for application fee and $was a holding deposit which by their own verbal statement and paperwork we can be refunded the $if we canceled the application within hours of application approval or if we were denied and were told we should hear whether or not we are approved or denied within business days We found out on May 30, that the management at Ashburn Meadows forgot to have us complete two pages of paperwork and didn't inform usThis is several weeks after we started the processThey also changed the price of the apartment to $1,and said it is effective June 1, but we would pay the current rate of $1,because we were applying before the new rate effective date
Due to inconsistencies and dishonesty from management we decided to cancel our application on May 30, the same day we found out more paperwork was needed to continue processing our applicationWhen we we

Review: I lived in the Ashburn Meadows Community for over 4 years. Paid my rent and utilities on time every month. On January 6th, 2014 my apartment was completely flooded. After contacting the Fire Marshall, I was told these types of flood are normally cause by poor maintenance upkeep during the winter months. The management team never even offered to put us up in a hotel. We were homeless for over 30 days. I was never even contacted by Ashburn Meadows for the next several weeks while all of our possessions sat inside the apartment like a petri dish, growing massive amounts of mold and mildew. All of our furniture and clothing had to be thrown away and some personal items were not replaceable. After the apartment was deemed unlivable, we moved out and into another community. In February, we were summonsed to appear in court over unpaid rent for February. Meanwhile, we had not lived in the apartment since January 6th. We got, in writing, that this was an error and did not have to appear in court (Lease Agreement Section #21a). On July 14th, 2014 we received another bill for over $2,000 for damages and unpaid rent and another threat to appear in court if it wasn't paid within 5 days. I tried contacting the leasing office Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. With no response. I finally received a call late Friday evening and was told by management they needed to speak with their corporate office. I even made several calls to their Corporate Headquarters with no response. It is now Tuesday July 22nd 2014 and I have resolution to this issue. Threating someone's credit and not returning them money that is due back to them IS AGAINST THE LAW! I'm sure that [redacted] Apt# [redacted] still has mold spores in it and have pictures to prove it. It is unsafe for anyone to live there. Please do a proper investigation against this company.Desired Settlement: $997 in overpaid rent and $200 security deposit paid back IN FULL to myself. ($1,197) Kevin Hanrahan
