Ashby Remodeling and Services Reviews (2)

Review: I hired Ashby Remodeling in September 2013 who supposed to lay tile in my house. Work was very procrastinated, dragging unreasonably, tile in ground floor two bedrooms and hallway was poorly laid with lot of imperfections that was no acceptable. I asked to redo the job that was done a little after. According to our agreement contractor supposed to level floors, install hardybacker to prevent tile from movement and grout cracking, lay tile and grout it. I was providing tile on my own. Our agreement also included redoing bedroom closets and installing Ikea cabinets. Master bedroom closet was not redone as agreed because of the structural issue. Nevertheless contractor did not reduce agreement price for not performed job. Both cabinets were not assembled properly, sliding doors had mismatched parts, were not sliding smoothly, leaving huge gaps between doors and walls, several parts left uninstalled. I was not reliant on his quality and decided to hire a different contractor. I decided not to continue with remaining part of our agreement that supposed to cover other projects like building a deck, replacing windows, replacing staircase, etc. partly because he was not following contract, had very poor quality, many reminders about not appropriate condition of completed work done, time procrastination. Contractor received much higher amount than he deserved but he demanded even more

Contractor guaranteed to provide two year warranty on all job that we agreed to be done in my house.

Few months later in March 2014 I found cracked grout and moving floors in the area of ten square feet in small bedroom where Aaron contractor installed tile. I called him twice but he didn't pick up the phone, so I left message in his answering machine. It's been over a week and no response from his part.Desired Settlement: I would like to be entitled for partial refund of about $3000 to redo tile: open up existing tile, fix floor, put new hardybacker, lay tile and grout again.

Review: [redacted] Ashby signed contract to put in porcelain flooring, stone fireplace, mantle, molding, & remodel an island. The contract was signed 6/22/14 & he was referred to us through [redacted], owner of [redacted], our decorator. The contract said it would be done within 20-30 days working from 8am-4:30pm – neither happened. He abandoned our job, didn’t adhere to the contract, didn’t prep floor for tile as contracted, the floor is severely unlevel, roughly 200sq’ of tile needs to be replaced, “special order semicustom” garbage drawer is plywood & off the shelf parts not contracted for & doesn’t open or close right, used all extra tile replacing improperly laid floor, left island electricity “live” & disconnected to outlets, demanded money continuously before work was completed, threatened to put lien on our house, had me initial contract & pay 100% for island change order the day I was medicated for double root canal, didn’t match the wall texture, didn’t use contracted materials, fireplace stone doesn’t meet the wall, stone fell off the fireplace, didn’t repair damage he caused to fireplace, stucco walls, cabinets, garage door, installed molding half the height as contracted, didn’t seal grout, incomplete job on molding, cancels appointments to finish our work, refused to give physical address, hit neighbors’ car with truck & didn’t tell us, didn’t use skilled labor he quoted, refuses to work with licensed contractor for mediation.Desired Settlement: We don't feel he is qualified to finish the job, and don't trust him in our home unsupervised. We want our contracted job finished satisfactorily, to industry standards, with a licensed contractor to mediate and supervise his work. We want any damage he caused to be fixed by him or at his expense. He should not be referred to people by decorators, or other contractors. His license and insurance are up to date and valid, which is criminal after the way he took advantage of us. My father has Alzheimer's and I am trying to help my parents sell their house and move into our home to car for them. During this four month time, my dad has been in the hospital several times for internal bleeding and falls, my husband had to go into the hospital for a blood clot, and I am trying to take care of them and my own family, as well as work full time. He should not be allowed to do this to people! Please help us in any way you can to get our home safe and in working order.
