Asher College Reviews (2)

Review: It is my pleasure to introduce myself [redacted]; I am currently enrolled at Asher College since March 30, 2014. The reason why I registered was to upgrade and refresh my Micro Soft Office knowledge on 2010 products. My experience as a Training and Development Manage for over 15 years has leaded me to believe that Asher College has not lived up to their own expectation to deliver a quality education that Asher College boast about. My compliant begins with the course syllabus, and how it has an immediate impact on my learning experience. I am addressing the entire student body involvement before and after I graduate. Lets start with the Micro Office Specialist program I am taking at this time. The course material which includes: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, (Administrative Assist, clerical filing I was given out dated books to study that were published in 1985 which has not identified any relevant to 2015 technology), computer essentials, and online tutorials, as well as the homework assignments has so many misprinted page, errors, incomplete sentence, in them until you cannot get a complete comprehension of what the lesson is teaching, therefore limiting my experience using their course material. I am also a Diabetic; as a consequence I need to have frequent breaks for my diabetic maintenance requirements. As I explained my conditions to the Director of student service that person has no knowledge of how to give allowance for someone with my condition as stated on the American Disability Association website. As a result, I have been discriminated again several times in my tenure. For example I need my terminal to be adjusted to not reflect glair, the fonts / icon are too small for me to read, my chair is broken and has not been replaced, again I asked for assistance and again I was denied. All of my requests to improve my capability to achieve adequate satisfaction in a learning environment have not been resolved. I have requested new course material and again I was denied, I asked for better accommodations and again denied. Therefore if I am not able to continue with adequate accommodations I will as for a full refund of my student loan so that I can apply to another college. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated in assisting me on how to resolve my ongoing dilemma.Best regards,[redacted]Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of my student loan, so that I can apply thoose funds to another accredited college, with better accommodations.

April 20, 2015 Re: Complaint # [redacted] To Whom It May Concern, This letter is in response to the complaint filed by Mr. [redacted]. Let me assure you that our number one priority is the satisfaction of our students. Upon receiving notification of this complaint, our Director of Education immediately met with Mr. [redacted] to address his concerns. He had three main concerns and they have been addressed as follows: 1. He was given an outdated text book for the administrative course PBS001. This course is currently being updated by our curriculum development team. As an immediate response to Mr. [redacted]’s concerns, an updated textbook has been ordered and should arrive with a week. Mr. [redacted] was satisfied with this solution. 2. Mr. [redacted] was concerned about his ability to eat in the classroom to accommodate his diabetes. We ask students to keep food and drinks away from the computers and lab equipment. Having said that, we completely understand and accommodate students regarding the need to address low blood sugar in a very timely manner. Two of the instructors in Mr. [redacted]’s class room are also diabetic, so we are extremely knowledgeable and compassionate regarding a person’s needs in this area. We have a private Pharmacy lab located inside the classroom that we have made available for Mr. [redacted]’s use any time he is in the classroom. Of course, we reassured Mr. [redacted], that if any emergency situation were to occur, we would be immediately available to come to his assistance. Mr. [redacted] was satisfied with this solution. 3. Mr. [redacted] expressed he lodged this complaint because he felt like he was not being heard. Although his student record shows multiple meetings with staff and faculty, we do understand each student is unique and requires individual attention. It is very important to us that each student feel valued and acknowledged. To address Mr. [redacted]’s concerns, we have scheduled weekly meetings with our Director of Education, [redacted]. These meetings will be over and above that daily instruction and support Mr. [redacted] receives from faculty. Additionally he is working with our Career Services Directors, Kim Alexander and Karin Rauh to complete his employment curriculum. Mr. [redacted] has requested and will be participating in our May 29th commencement ceremony. Mr. [redacted] has also inquired about continuing his education with Asher College additional classes upon graduation. Mr. [redacted] was satisfied with this solution. Below is a quote from the documented meeting on April 15, 2015 between Mr. [redacted] and [redacted], Director of Education. I asked besides the course PBS 001, was his overall experience here at Asher College good? He replied, “Yes!” I asked him if he wanted to participate in graduation. He replied, “Yes!” I would be happy to provide any additional information needed. Asher College has been an example of strong character and a positive influence in the Sacramento Business Community for close to 15 years. It is our sincere desire to address the needs of our students in a timely manner with excellence and integrity. Please let me know if there is anything else I need to do to get this complaint resolved with a positive outcome as soon as possible. Sincerely, [redacted] Campus Director -Sacramento ###-###-#### [redacted] Campus Director ###-###-#### l[redacted]

Review: I came to this school hoping to get assistance from knowledge staffs and having the actual technology and resources to complete my Active Directory certifications. The person that signed me up who is the IT director at the time is a ex-car salesman who uses Sales pitch to get you to sign up for the school, because I worked full time and went to school part time after work, they had promised me 1 on 1 lessons and classes on ANY time that was best for me, I did NOT receive any 1 on 1 lessons or classes while I attended Asher college. They had instructors teachers that were former students, who had no real world experience in the field. They had out dated study materials and medias that they make you watch. You get the books and a stack of lab study paper and your on your own. (NO FORMAL CLASS) I was not taught one lessons while I attended the school nor do they care, they only care of your weekly quiz that you take in school (they provide self study program from the quiz which provide answers to the quiz) so all you really have to do is memorize the quiz answers and you will pass the test. If you continue to make progress they can keep collecting money from you is the only reason they care if you are or not. This was not the school had promise me, I never finished my Active directory program and they still ask me to graduate from the school, now I'm close to ten thousand dollars in debt and have no gained ANYTHING from the school. The only thing I got was the A+ certification and network+ which you can easily find FREE materials from online to obtain. This school is a scam as for as IT programs go, how is this acceptable?

To whom it may concern;Asher College has reviewed Si (Steve) [redacted]'s complaint. Below are the facts.Mr. [redacted] began school with Asher on October 3rd 2011 and his last date of attendance was July 22nd 2013. During those 22 months Mr. [redacted] completed several classes and did earn his A+ and Network + external certifications. Mr. [redacted] had over 848 hrs. of attendance. Also during those 22 months Mr. [redacted] twice received a leave of absence to take care of his personal affairs and/or settle into his new job. Our college only earns tuition as students' progress through the program. Mr. [redacted] could have withdrawn at any time but chose to continue.Asher College is not a high priced college where students graduate with $40,000 in student loans. Mr. [redacted], over the course of the 22 months he attended received $7,000 in Guaranteed Student Loans to pay for his education. We are sorry that nearly 2 years after Mr. [redacted] stopped attending that he is now seeking a refund. He had 22 months of opportunity to cease his relationship with Asher. We have hundreds of happy satisfied students and alumni.I wanted to add some additional information to the response letter from Asher College Mr. [redacted] completed 848:54 hours of his course. I have enclosed a transcript so you can see he successfully completed and passed his entire academic course with a GPA of 2.74. The only class he failed was the ACD course which is designed to prepare you for employment. According to his attendance records he did not attend this course. His last day of attendance was 07/22/2013, nearly 2 years ago. Additionally, Mr. [redacted] had a balance of $442.50 that was subsequently written off as bad debt.Looking at Mr. [redacted]'s student record, it appears that he went though multiple personal situations. I would like to make this sincere offer, if Mr. [redacted] is at a place now in his life where he would like to pursue his career, we would be happy to work with him. Our ultimate goal is always to help a student realize their career goals. He is welcome to reach out to me directly and I will make arrangements for some career service assistance.Sincerely[redacted]Campus Director###-###-####[redacted]
