Ashland Co Oral Health Svc Reviews (2)

(Revdex.com Copied from original document.)To Whom it may concern;Ashland County Oral Health Services (ACOHS) is a non-profit organization that provides high quality dental care for lower income communityWe also provide services for a wide range of patients that are covered by insurances that most dental
office will not accept. Please see attached handwritten break down by my staffIt includes all charges, what should be paid by insurance, and deductible. On January 23, 2017, the above patient presented to our center for partial repairThe actual charge for the visit was $(for exam and for denture repair lab fees and a $previous credit)During this visit, the patient was examined by a doctor, discussion of denture and paperwork to have denture repairedWe submitted to Delta Dental for payment the following:Payment $64.80Writeoff: $(give away because of being in network)Deductible Applied: $50.00We requested from the patient $which included $deductible and $(50%) for denture repairWhat was paid was the following:Payment $64.80Writeoff: $131.00Because we are in network we gave $writeoff (gift), this allowed us to return $to the patientHowever, my staff did calculate incorrectlyShe calculated the patients' portion at 50% ( most all insurance companies on denture repair) instead of the 20% patient's insurance companyOur cost to the lab for the repair will be $not to mention the office expensesWe will take a loss, as we always do with dentures, partials and other treatmentsAt no time during this appointment was there every attempt to deceive or take advantage of the patientThat is not our mission. My office is in close proximity to the front desk and I listen to my staff closely for tone and courteous behaviorThe front desk staff tried to explain the charge to Ms*** but she didn't understand the insurance yearly deductibleThe date of treatment was January 23rd, the complaint was lodged on January 24thAccording to the legal clinical notes, the denture was delivered on January 26th and the patient stated that is fit greatNothing was said with regards to the charge till this report.A refund for $has been requested from the accountants office and will be forwarded to Ms***Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to answer themThank you for your time and attention to this matter.Respectfully,Tonda H***

I accept the response; however, my understanding of "deductible" is that after I have paid the first $50 of the bill my deductible is covered and I just need to pay the remainder. 9th St. Dental was charging me the entire bill and adding on $50 for the deductible. I don't believe this is correct.
