Trees and bushes not included in the quote were removed from our neighbors yard. Owner denied putting a hole in our carport roof.On August 11th, 2014 [redacted] gave us an estimate to have 5 oaks taken down. After getting several estimates we decided to hire [redacted]. We asked that he send us a copy of his liability and workman's comp insurance. We got only the liability insurance the day before he was to begin work. I noticed that it had expired 3 months ago. I called him and he had the updated one sent and brought a copy of the workmen's comp the day of the job. My written estimate states removal of 5 oaks on the property line. When his workers got started they immediately, without asking, took down my neighbors red bud, dogwood, a gardenia bush and several other bushes (not trees) in their yard not on the property line and obviously not oaks. The oak in the backyard had a chain link fence that went around it which was pulled away, however his guys got the stump grinder tangled in the chain link fence which they couldn't fix. [redacted] knocked off a hundred dollars to cover our cost of replacing the fence. Two days after the job we noticed a hole in our carport roof and that our gutter had been bent. No one informed us of this at the time that it happened. I called [redacted] to inform him of the hole in the roof of the carport which he denied and then later contradicted himself by saying that our roof was rotten. He also stated that we had said to take everything on the property line which is not true and I have the quote to prove plus my neighbors trees are in their yard not the property line. [redacted] got very angry on the phone with me and stated that he knew when he wrote the quote that we would complain about the job. I am angry that our quote only addressed removal of 5 oaks, not a dogwood, red-bud, and gardenia bush in the neighbor's yard. Also that I had to replace fencing and still have a hole in the carport roof. He would not acknowledge that his crew did any wrong in removing the extra trees and bushes or that they put the hole in our roof.Desired SettlementReplacement of our neighbor's trees and bushes and patching of our roof.Business Response /[redacted] 5, 2014/09/30) */I have net with the neighbors and have offered to buy and plant new bushes, flowers and trees. I accept full responsibility for mishap. I have talked to my crew and while cleaning off the roof my worker stepped on the roof and caused a hole. The roof is rotten in spots and it was an accident.I will have the portion of roof repaired. I regret that any trees and bushes were cut down and am working with the neighbors to help them in any way I can to resolve this matter. Some of the bushes and trees we under very large trees and I was explained to Mr.[redacted] and mrs.[redacted] that those trees and bushes would have to be removed prior to tree removal.I was told by Mr [redacted] that he wanted the trees gone and that those bushes and trees were his.We did not intend to cause any problems. Again I am very sorry to the bowers and there neighbors. Consumer Response Mr. [redacted], of Ashland Tree Services, made reparations to us on October 10th 2014 for the damages we and our neighbors sustained.
