Review: On June 8, 2011, my husband and I bought a reclining sofa from Ashley Furniture for $799.00. We were told by the salesman that it was leather and trusted the salesperson thinking we were getting a deal because most of their furniture was on sale. This year the furniture started peeling, the back horribly,and also the seams. It is just my husband and myself, our children are grown. It is getting worse every day, and when guests sit on our sofa it peels even more. I finally called to speak to a customer service representative. She informed me that our sofa was polyurethane. She said we should have known by the price we paid. I told her even if that was the case, the salesman still lied to us. I also said we had a faux leather couch when our children were young for over ten years that never peeled, just showed wear and tear. We also had a leather sofa from [redacted] for over ten years and the price point wasn't much of a difference. The person I spoke to did send a technician out and he said that Ashley would get the parts for free to repair our sofa but we'd have to pay $225.00 out of our own pocket. I feel that Ashley Furniture should refund our money but I was told they do not do this. If not then they should replace our sofa or at least cover the cost to repair it. My husband and I do not have money to buy a new sofa every three years, but this one looks so disgusting we have to cover it with a throw. I read at least forty or more reviews from other onsumers who have the same complaint about how their so called leather furniture peels. Many said that even with the warranty it doesn't cover peeling. Some said it peeled after only one year of ownership. Asley we thought was a reputable furniture company and that is why we went there. My complaint is false advertising by the salesperson who sold it to us as being leather and that they used inferior material. My sofa was also discontinued.Desired Settlement: My husband and I would like a refund but Ashley Furniture says they do not offer refunds. If not we would like to replace our sofa and at the minimum we would like them to pay for the repairs, the $225.00.
