ASJ White Shepherds Reviews (1)

Review: I bought a female white German Shepherd with a full registration from an [redacted] breeder, having an excellent experience. Upon requests, I though that I would have 1 litter from this dog, for people I know. Even asking my vet about it, he said, 'sex is the best part of life'. Next, I was to look for a full registration mate for my dog. In August 2012, I contacted ASJ, and originally spoke to [redacted], whose the BF or husband of the breeder, [redacted]. ASJ has 2 big rules, their full registration pups start at $3500., and ASJ does not sale a full registration pup within the home state, CT. It actually took me 14 months to learn about these 2 ASJ rules. Right off the top, I said that I was interested in a full registration pup. [redacted] said okay. [redacted]' current position is that [redacted] couldn't had said okay. I will agree with [redacted] that I can't prove that [redacted] said okay. Next, I told [redacted] that I wanted a litter from my dog, for friends and family. I can prove that I said that. Knowing this, an ethical service minded breeder had to know that I had a full registration in mind. If I had known about these 2 big rules, I could not afford a $3500+ dog, and I would had learn that living in ASJ's home state, so I couldn't had gotten a full registration pup from them anyways, I would had thanked them for their time, and walked away. My problem is that I'm new at this, very much on the learning curve, and the big problem of [redacted]'s and [redacted]'s lack of candor, so I was unable to make an informed decision. Being unfamiliar with the paper work, the registration was marked as limited, and it got passed stupid me. The limited registration was not verbally mentioned. [redacted]'s says it's too late for a full registration. AKC says it can still be done, attaching her permission to the application. You see, more lack of candor. [redacted]'s has the right to make her rules, but the situation was misrepresented with me by verbally withholding her rules from me. I shouldn't had been her customer.Desired Settlement: If [redacted] and [redacted] weren't up front about the ASJ rules, but still applied them to me. I wasn't a good fit for [redacted]' business model. I should had walked away early in the process, but because of their lack of candor, they lubed me through. Shame on ASJ for steering me towards a registration mismatch between my 2 dogs. I believe that I am owed a full registration, (the original verbal agreement), and in return, a reasonable amount of extra consideration to ASJ.

Response:

Dear Ms. [redacted]:

Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding the purchase of a male White German Shepherd Dog by Mr. [redacted] on August 13, 2012 where Mr. [redacted] alleges deceptive business practices in the sale. ASJ White Shepherds thanks you for the opportunity to respond.

Mr. [redacted] states in his complaint a number of truths we can confirm, and a number of misstatements and poor recollections we dispute:

Falsehood: Mr. [redacted] NEVER made his desires known as to a need for a Full Registration puppy. As he states in his complaint, if we DID know of his desires he would have thanked us for our time and walked away. Obviously, that did not happen. There was never a lack of candor -we never knew of Mr. [redacted]'s desires or intentions.

Truth: Mr. [redacted] did state he did want to have one litter 'for friends & family'.

Falsehood : At no time did Mr. [redacted] ever express a desire for Full Registration for his male GSD (German Shepherd Dog) and there was never any discussion of same during the Contract Review where we go over every line - line by line, with every purchaser.

Falsehood: Mr. [redacted] claims we can read his mind with regard to intent that he wanted a Full Registration for his puppy.

Truth: Mr. [redacted] never disclosed he owned a female white GSD with a Full Registration. As noted above, he did say he was considering having 'one litter for friends & family', and we acknowledge he did indeed say that. What Mr. [redacted] volunteered was that he wanted a companion for his 2 1/2 year old White GSD.

Mr. [redacted] may not be aware that he can STILL have that litter and have beautiful puppies for friends & family, but they will not carry an AKC registration. Mr. [redacted] did NOT pay market price for a Full Registration White GSD - he paid a fair price for a companion dog who will give love and affection for the rest of his life.

Falsehood: Mr. [redacted] states he was unfamiliar with the registration paperwork at the time of sale. This is false, since he states in his complaint he purchased a female White GSD from a breeder in [redacted] with Full Registration. This proves Mr. [redacted] was familiar with the process and is not the uninformed novice he portrays himself to be.

Mr.[redacted] requests a Full Registration for his dog. If Mr. [redacted] made this discovery of 'a registration mismatch' immediately after purchase, we would have certainly taken the puppy back, since he states in his complaint he cannot afford a Full Registration dog from ASJ White Shepherds. The window for reconsideration has closed -that opportunity closed many months ago when the puppy should have been registered with the AKC. This delay suggests to me Mr. [redacted] has recently experienced a change of heart with regards to his intentions.

We will, however, as his original Purchase Agreement states, assist Mr. [redacted] in rehoming the dog if this is what he chooses to do within the terms of the original Purchase Agreement.

ASJ White Shepherds operates with the highest ethical standards. Although we sympathize with Mr. [redacted]'s situation, we are unable to accommodate his request.

Thank you again for the opportunity to respond.

Best Regards,

Consumer

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: They have a right to make their business policies, but they were not explained to me, which would had quickly settled the matter. The initial phone call with Mr. [redacted], the 1st visit with Mr. [redacted] and the second visit with [redacted] & [redacted] did not reveal that Miss [redacted]' policy is that fully registered pups are $3500., but they will not sale a fully registered pup to an Connecticut resident. The reason why I learned about buying my female as a full registered, is because that breeder took the time to explain it to me. ASJ was not forthcoming with that type of information, especially as an in-state resident. I made it clear that I was interested in breeding my dog, for family and friends, so I thought that would take care of the issue. It didn't. Their comeback should had been, 'if you are looking for a fully registered dog, you will have to look elsewhere, sorry'. They never said that I couldn't have a fully registered dog. The paperwork is talked about, but it wasn't a straight line by line thing, a glossed over thing. I readily admit that this is where I screwed up, and even if I did catch it. Miss [redacted] says that I can still breed my dogs, but without the paperwork. I've figured out that ASJ doesn't want in-state competition with her branded dog, which is fine, but that could had been explained to me. Giving limited registered pups to family and friends is not the same as giving fully registered. When I bought the female, it was either $900 for a limited or $1200 for fully registered dog, which that breeder took the time to explain, where ASJ was buttoned up. Mr. [redacted] said that the dog I was looking at was the last of the litter, so a couple of dollars would be shaved off. All during this time, I had no idea that [redacted]'s fully registered pups are $3500 (wow!). I'm new at this. I admit that I screwed up, but it was compounded by the omission of their business policies, as applied to me, especially as an in-state resident. They were not candid with me. Thank you.

Sincerely,
