Elder abuse, fraud, and theft of equipment.Technician came and said he was there to upgrade the alarm system. He removed and replaced equipment, and put new signs out that were not from current alarm system provider. He never said he was with another provider or anything about changing over to a new provider. I called the salesman and told him we were still under contract with[redacted] and had just made a three month payment for their services. He asked if they payed out the remainder of contract and reimbursed two months of the monitoring, would we keep the new system. I said that would be ok, and they came up with an amount of $270 to pay off the contract, but I came to find out there were 28 months left on the contract, and that came out to $838 and they don't want to pay the difference.Desired SettlementRelease from new contract and return of removed equipment and I'll return the $60.00 they reimbursed for previous bill. Business Response My name is [redacted] Askew, one of the owners of Askew Alarm Co along with my husband [redacted] Askew. This email is in reference to a complaint from [redacted] concerning a sale to her of an alarm system. On 1/6/2015 our salesman were doing door to door sales in her area and Ms. [redacted] agreed to switch alarm companies from[redacted] to Askew Alarms to be monitored by Vector Security. Upon my quality assurance call with the customer I spoke with another family member in the home who verified what he could of her information but told me it would be best to speak with her son[redacted] because the family member was visiting from out of town. When I spoke with Mr.[redacted] he informed me his mother was still under contract with her previous company,[redacted] and they wanted our system removed. I informed the installer to go back to remove the system and informed the salesman of the situation. The salesman then spoke with Mr.[redacted] to see how we could resolve the situation as far as keeping the sale. Mr.[redacted] informed my salesman she had one year left on her contract at 29.99 per month and they had just sent off a payment for $60 for the current bill and if we would pay it off they would keep the service. The salesman informed them we could pay off the remainder of their contract(per the information they gave us) as well as refund them the $60 for good measure. The $60 refund was given to them at the time they signed the written agreement on 1/9/2015 and was cashed on 1/21/2015, another check was sent out for $270 the following month on 2/5/2015. We did get this agreement in writing and was agreed to by the customer/son which is included in the attachments. Upon their previous company[redacted] receiving their cancellation letter they found out later they had the wrong information and owed over $800 to their previous company and they wanted Askew Alarm Co to be responsible. We do not pay payoffs this large nor do we assume liability, especially when there has already been an agreement in place. They did have the opportunity to cancel on the same date of install in which my technician was in route but was cancelled due to the agreement made. The same technician who installed the alarm system went to him in person to have them sign the agreement on 1/9/2015 days later while still within the no penalty cancellation time could have disconnected the system but even then days later they still agreed to keep the system.
