This company sent a bill to a collection agency who has been relentless. We simply asked for proof of the collection and they will not supply.I received a call as well as my nephew (not related to company), husband (not related to company), and some colleagues from a collection agency. This person claimed that we owned them money for an employee who signed up for a class but never showed up. I went back to this employee's emails and her supervisors emails and found nothing verifying that she registered for the class. I do not know this company or the person asking for the money. I will not send money to someone just because they called. I asked her for proof that my employee signed up for a course and she said, "It is your bill to prove, not mine responsibility". She hung up on me. She continues to call my company to collect on this bill. It will cost me more to get my attorney involved but I will if I have to. If ASPE would simply show me where my employee signed up, did pay or show up, I will look into the matter and pay the bill. It is unprofessional to think that I will just pay someone who calls and makes a claim. [redacted]Desired SettlementI would like this collection agency to supply me with the requested information to settle this case. It is apparent that she does not have this information or else she would have sent it to me. I would like for her to stop calling me and drop this if she does not have the information needed to take this to court as she keeps threatening me she will do. A representative from ASPE called me and apologized for the collection agency representing his company. He took care of the issue so I consider this a closed issue. For future reference, the people at ASPE were very professional and did not feel that the agency was acting appropriately.

I Registered for a listed course, but became ill prior to the course date. I called the company and attempted to cancel my reservation-wasrefusedI registered for a listed course, but became ill prior to the course date. I called the company and told them I could not attend, but they told me it was too late to cancel and would need full payment anyway. I refused to pay for a course I could not attend, but they insisted. They have since sent my bill to collections. I would call this fraud.Desired SettlementRemoval of this fraudulent claim from my credit report.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] DirectorContact Phone: XXXXXXXXXXContact Email: [redacted]@aspeinc.comThis individual was enrolled in one of our training classes scheduled to start September 10th, 2009. On August 12th, 2009 (the date of enrollment) he received our standard confirmation letter. The customer was also made aware of payment terms, and the amount due. This confirmation letter clearly states our Terms and Conditions, which can also be found online here: http://www.aspe-sdlc.com/terms-and-conditions.phpAt the time, ASPE agreed to waive the mandatory $200 reschedule fee for cancelling based on the customer's illness, as a courtesy to the customer. Our policy would allow the individual to reschedule the same course for any time within one year of the date the first class, but the original payment still would be due. ASPE tried to collect the amount directly, before ultimately passing it to a third-party collections agency. It appears that the money was uncollectible, which is why it would affect the customer's credit report.

ASPE-SDLC continues to send me newsletters even though I requested to be removed from their mailing list. I never requested receipt of this newsletterI requested to be removed from the business' newsletter which I never agreed to receive in the first place. Here is the timeline:* 3/21/2014: sent email requesting to be removed from the newsletter mailing list.* 3/25/2014: [redacted] replied and said I would be removed. * 6/10/2014: I received another newsletter. I sent another request to [redacted]. I may have received a reply, but I can't locate it.* 8/17/2014: I received another newsletter. I sent another email to [redacted], telling him I would report the business if I continued to receive newsletters.* 8/18/2014: [redacted] replied that he would try again to get me removed from the mailing list. Said it could take up to six months to get completely removed from the system.* 10/17/2014: I received another newsletter. This company does not seem to respect my privacy or preferences, and so I want others to know to know to do business with them. [redacted] as courteous with his replies, and this complaint is *not* against him or the way he handled our correspondence. The complaint is against the company that used my personal information without my consent to send me unsolicited mail, and continued to do so even though I requested them to stop doing so.Desired SettlementI want to be removed from their mailing list, and want them to delete all of my information. I also want them to make it easy to IMMEDIATELY remove people from their systems if they requested it. It should not take this long.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted], DirectorContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email:[redacted]The customer's address was entered for suppression at the original request date. We use a third-party vendor to manage all of our mailings. Based on this most recent request, we have contacted them to ensure the customer and his address is removed immediately from future mailings. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, but there should be no future mailings received at the previously mentioned address.Consumer Response I appreciate the prompt response. This response is similar to what I received previously, so I can't be sure if it will be carried out. If I do not receive any additional mailings in the next 6 months I think we can close this case. I will respond back if I receive another mailing, or on 4/20/2015 to indicate that I think the case can be closed.Final Consumer Response Consumer Response I would like to reopen this complaint. I received another newsletter. Unbelievable! Please open this complaint until I am really taken off of their mailing list.Business Response There is absolutely no perfect way to suppress someone from mailings when using rented lists. As part of our direct marketing campaign we use rented lists from an insured and reputable list broker ([redacted]). We have taken this person off our owned house file of names and we have put this person on our suppression list for rented names. Putting them on the rented name suppression means for every rented list we use, that suppression list put up against it and names on the suppression list are taken out off want we mail but the name is NOT taken off the original list source, because that is owned by another company. As you can imagine this is not a perfect process and if there are any minor differences in the name or address on the rented list side in comparison to the suppression file the name can get through.Renting list is a standard, reputable and legal practice. We use a third party for both the list acquisition and mail process to ensure we follow all accepted practices. The only way for anyone to ensure they do not receive any unsolicited mail is for them to go back to the source. That would be thinking through where and when you may have given your contact information to an organization and going back to that organization to remove your name. At ASPE we rent names from technology magazines, newsletters, and web portals. Examples would be [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] newsletter. We will continue to do everything we can to ensure our suppressed names do not get through suppression process. It does us no good to mail someone who has no interest in our products/services. So you know we are motivated to ensure this process works, but again, the only 100% full proof way to get stop getting unwanted mail is to remove your name from the source rental lists (like the list examples I gave above).

ASPE has failed to stop sending emails after three requests across months. My company contracted with ASPE about a year ago for some training services. After which they sent sales emails to attendees (which is expected). After receiving one in Jan 2016, I asked to be removed. After receiving one in April 2016, I again asked to be removed. After receiving one in August 2016, I asked once again to be removed. I have now received a fourth email and am filing a complaint for failure to abide by the CAN SPAM Act. Desired SettlementI would like to cease receiving email from the company and see them include proper unsubscribe instructions in their emails to other customers in the future (as required by CAN SPAM).Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused. We did research the cause of this particular case and [redacted] was unsubscribed from our marketing emails in February of 2016. Unfortunately, we were in the middle of a new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system integration with our Marketing Automation system, in which a few emails did get sent from our new CRM without verifying unsubscribe data from our Marketing Automation system. The most recent case Mr. [redacted] described, however, was due to the combination of a "rookie" mistake from a brand new hire and glitch with[redacted] (our Marketing Automation system) for which we had several open tickets for and were actively trying to solve the problem. Again, we sincerely apologize for the mistake and the last thing we want to do is continue to contact someone who has requested to be removed from further communication with us. We have tested and re-tested our new systems and have taken all necessary action to make sure we are within compliance of the CAN SPAM Act and respect our contacts' wishes of what communication they would and would not like to receive.Consumer Response I am satisfied that the business has addressed this issue.
