Dear Sir I don"t recall that you requested an es***ate for your starter repair My mistake for not providing one It would appear that the es***ates that you received from other service providers were unacceptable for one reason or another, other wise they would have proceeded with the repairs Again my apologies for misinforming you that it was a common starter, I was under the impression that it was a [redacted] brand not a [redacted] , the [redacted] being much more obscure It is not unreasonable to expect the work performed to be guaranteed, to provide a guaranteed, a through cleaning and inspection, needs to be performed by us It takes hr to do this, my shop rate is 88/hr Once performing the inspection we found the armature to be questionable because the windings had been so hot that the varnish was burned black It has been my experience, (being in this business for yrs) that an armature with burned windings is unlikely to last our yr guarantee The cost of a guaranteed good job with new parts as stated is approx $ as you stated The cost of a job of questionable quality, questionable used armature, used bearings, new brush holder and new brushes and hr labor is as you stated $ This is the minimum that is required to have a working starter The last communication that I received from you was that you could purchase a new starter for $dollars It was my recommendation that you do so as it was the best value for your investment dollar It was mys understanding at that ***e that you were following this advise as I'd not heard from you since ***

There certainly has been a lot of confusion on my part trying to understand what the customer has wanted I thought he wanted his starter repaired It is clear now that what he wants is his starter returned unrepaired Gladly I will perform this task Will ship by the end of the day tomorrow.. ***

with the repairs.  Again my apologies for misinforming you that it was a common starter, I was under the impression that it was a [redacted] brand not a [redacted], the [redacted] being much more obscure.   It is not unreasonable to expect the work performed to be guaranteed, to provide a guaranteed, a through cleaning and inspection, needs to be performed by us.  It takes 1 hr to do this, my shop rate is 88/hr.  Once performing the inspection we found the armature to be questionable because the windings had been so hot that the varnish was burned black.  It has been my experience, (being in this business for 39 yrs) that an armature with burned windings is unlikely to last our 1 yr guarantee.  The cost of a guaranteed good job with new parts as stated is approx $248.00  as you stated.  The cost of a job of questionable quality, questionable used armature, used bearings, new brush holder and new brushes and 1 hr labor is as you stated $146.83.  This is the minimum that  is required to have a working starter.
The last communication that I received from you was that you could purchase a new starter for $135.00 dollars.  It was my recommendation that you do so as it was the best value for your investment dollar.  It was mys understanding at that [redacted]e that you were following this advise as I'd not heard from you since.

Review: I prepare this draft with hope that you will immediately return the starter to me for my diesel generator,so that the diesel generator repair man will be able to finish the work he is performing on my generator. Due to a tremendous amount of confusion through telephone calls, and text messages. Please allow me to refresh your memory of past history involving, you to complete a minor repair of my starter.last November we spoke of the possibility of you being able to repair my starter. Iexplained to you that my [redacted] generator was going through a complete service at a repair shop. The repair man at that facility told me that there was a wire holder for a brush was broken. He did not have this part at his shop. And he advised me to contact a starter rebuilder. This would be a very minor repair and that the part with labor should not exceed $35.00 at the most. He disassembled the complete starter, and cleaned and lubricated all moving parts. His opinion of the starter, was that it showed a normal amount of wear and would need only this wire brush holder to be replaced and the starter should function correctly. He would not be able to finish his job on my generator until I returned the starter to him in good working condition.I called 3 starter rebuilders the same day.And you were one of them. I explained the problem to you, reguarding my starter. And you reassured me that you would be able to repair the broken wire brush holder. You also told me that you should have a ton of parts available in storage and maybe even have a new starter.Since this is not an uncommon starter. You asked me to text some pictures of the starter,to make sure that it is the one that you thought it could be. Through text message I sent you 6 pictures of the starter to eliminate any confusion. A few minutes later you called me back and said that it was. And even though it is on my [redacted] generator you told me that it was used on other models such as Kubota etc.You then told me to get the starter to you.So that you would be able to see what the starter might need to be repaired.Once you located the parts or part that you needed, you would give me an es[redacted]ate to repair it.Since we are approximately 2 hours away from your shop.I shipped the starter to you on Dec. 4,2015 at the [redacted]here in [redacted],AZ.I waited for more than a week and never heard back from you regarding anything about my starter. So I called you and you told me that you had received my starter, but had not looked at it yet. And would call me later that day with your diagnosis and cost to repair it. You did not call me back that day.So after 3 more days I called you again. And you told me that you had repaired my starter and that all work had been performed with the exception of painting it. I was somewhat confused because you never gave me an es[redacted]ate as to how much it would cost to repair. I told you that I was a 73 year old man on S.S.and that I hope that the repair would be cheap. You told me that you would call me later that same day with the amount I would owe to you. Once again you did not call me back. The following day you called me and told me that I owed you $248.00 plus shipping. And you asked me how did Iplan to pay? Naturally I was quite upset that a$35.00 possible es[redacted]ate from another repair man, could turn into $248.00.You told me that you had to completely rebuild the whole starter because it was in such terrible condition.Iknew that was not true because the pictures that I sent to you.Showed the starter was completely disassembled, cleaned and lubricated. You told me that you did not know the condition of the starter until you took it apart.Once again it was completely disassembled showing each component when you received it. Even after all of this I told you that I would pay that amount so that Icould get my generator repaired. But I would not have that much money until the following week when I got my S.S.check. You became very upset using volger language and hung up the phone on me.A few day later on Jan.13,2016 you sent me a text stating that my new bill would only be $146.83 for the brush holder and freight. Apparently you took all of the new parts out of the starter and reinstalled all of the my old parts. If my old parts were so bad as you stated. How would my starter be able to function properly? I will not pay you anything for your labor for completely rebuilding my starter. Then taking it apart and reinstalling all my old parts. I never once told you to rebuild my starter.Only to make the minor repair that was needed. Once again to my dismay you never gave me any verbal or written estimate of what it would cost. You also performed work I never authorized you to perform. Since responding to you text I have not heard back from you. In summation you have had my starter for almost 2 months. As my last text to you will clearly state I would be willing to you,for the minor repair I authorized which would be $35.00 or less.Itold you that the generator repair man had found me a brand new starter. But as of now I don't have the money to buy it. Once again it has been almost 2 weeks and no response from you. As I told you you have the option to do what you want with starter. Such as ship it back to me the way you received it. Or make the minor repair so that the starter will work and I will pay you. Desired Settlement: If you don't respond within 5 days from the date on this draft.I will not only file sute, I will also file complaints with various agencies, such as the Revdex.com, [redacted], and the

[redacted]. In other words I have run out of patience and I want my starter back. Since I live in the country my generator is the source for my power. 2 months has been a terrible inconvenience for my wife and I. I hope and pray that you will do the right thing and if not I have prepared for the worst. I have full

discovery of all communication between us. Such as phone calls, text messages etc. If you decide to respond to this demand please do so by test message or in writing. No phone calls would be excepted from you.
