This is in response to Patty's comments First off it is pretty easy to verify the number of calls I made to them since I make all my calls from a cell phone which appears on my bill that is how I know how many times I called them Second I never had any interaction with your crew since I was not on the site when they where there It is of no surprise though that this company cannot get their story straight Since it is Thanksgiving weekend all I want to say is that I give Thanks that your did not complete that project so I could find another company that could correct your poor workmanship, complete the project in week and the icing on the cake my total cost was less than your original bid

I would not recommend this company if you want a project done and issues addressed in a timely mannerI signed a contract in June and was givin a discount if I could wait until August for the driveway to be could be completedI started calling the company on August to see when it would be startedI was told in a week or twoAfter numerous phone calls with either excuses or no return calls the tear out and base was done on October on which I issued a checkAfter that I called every two weeks to see when it would be completedOn October I was told that I would have to wait until spring for them to lay the asphalt and they would winterized the baseOn November 1, after threatening with Revdex.com and Channel investigates I was told they had a new crew and was promised they would be there next weekThe crew arrived at my home on November and started the job at 10:and was done at roughly 1:I gave them the balance owedOn November I looked over the driveway and was not pleasedAt the bottom of the front steps it was not level and water pooled upAlso there were spots in the driveway I was displeased with as well.My concern is that with winter coming that will turn to ice and be hazardousOn November a woman arrived and looked at it and took some picturesAfter quite a time of arguing I was told me that was the way it was supposed to be and to put sand on it and when they seal it in the spring it will look just fineN November I received a letter that this was the way it is and they will be out in the spring to seal itI am extremely unhappy with my experience with this company and would never recommend them to anyone

While I know they did their best at the end of the year to get a small amount of asphalt to lengthen a berm in front of my garage door, it did not fix the problem of water coming into the garage I left a vm message Thanksgiving, and I know they were closed, and it's the end of season, but I received no response Final Consumer Response / [redacted] (3000, 14, 2015/12/22) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I understand that the season has endedBut the company dropped the ball on getting out to provide a solution before the season endedQuite frankly I'm tired of hearing excusesI now go another months with water and ice in my garage I want this driveway replaced at no cost to me Final Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 28, 2016/01/27) */ RE: [redacted] Case# [redacted] Sorry for the late response, as you know we are closed for the winter and I am not in the Office and receive messages once a week In response to Mr [redacted] 's last complaint we plan on meeting in the spring with Mr [redacted] , MrKnox, the asphalt foreman and myself to see how this matter can be resolved I will contact Mr [redacted] by phone to set a convenient time to meet Respectfully, Patty [redacted]

First off, there already ARE pits, divots and pockmarks embedded in the ENTIRE surface of the driveway and sidewalkIt is not just a matter of washing off leaf stainsThese holes and boot prints in the concrete will only get bigger, erode and crack through the winterAnd the driveway has rough, uneven surfaces, which the company acknowledgesThe driveway and sidewalk are defective and unsightlyThis work is covered by warranty and needs to be replaced correctly at no cost to usSecondly, we already have paid for a permanent sealcoatThe company is not giving us anything we have not already paid forThey already owe us a sealcoat, to be applied in spring when the weather warmsThe company also stalled and stalled in pouring the concreteThere was plenty of time to do the work in warmer, better weather, but the company chose to wait until the absolute last minuteCompany was very slow to return our calls and let us know what was going onThe Revdex.com needs to make sure its members deliver on their promises and provide good customer serviceThis company failed on that Final Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 9, 2015/11/05) */ RE: Case # [redacted] : [redacted] In response to Mr [redacted] , First of all we do not stall on the installations, we schedule jobs according to the order they are received and weatherAs we stated we will be back in the spring of to reevaluate the condition of the concrete and also have a representative from the concrete supplier (Cemstone) evaluate and report to Mr [redacted] their findings Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox stands behind our product and warranty we will resolve any structural issues when we recheck in the spring of Respectfully, Patty [redacted] Customer Service

August 21, Angela [redacted] Mediation Coordinator RE: Case # XXXXXXXX I am replying to the August 12, letter written to the Revdex.com by the customer service representative at Asphalt and Concrete Buy KnoxThe Revdex.com had to contact this company twice to get a responseYou can tell the type of company that you are dealing with when complaints about their work and customer service are answered by verbal bullying, personal attacks and slandering of the character of the complainantIn her letter, the customer service representative called me unstable, greedy and rude Greedy? Through the Revdex.com complaint process, I offered the option of Knox filling the cracks and doing a complimentary seal coat as a means of settling this disputeKnox has decided to offer nothingThe pictures that the customer service representative enclosed of my asphalt driveway make a point of showing two old existing cracks that have been there for yearsOne is from a tree root and the other is above the city water line that crosses the drivewayIn no way, have I ever indicated that Knox was responsible for these cracksKnox is responsible for the cracks (10" each in length) next to the concrete apron they installedThese cracks are getting wider every day and, if allowed to remain without being filled, they will get worseThese cracks were not there prior to Knox doing the workThey were cracked by their skid loaderPlease note that I certainly am not in need financially for Knox to do the seal coatI am pursuing this on principle I noticed in her letter that the customer service representative does not address the footings that were never "core-filled" causing my concrete garage floor to crackShe admitted on two occasions that they had not been core-filled She also indicated in her letter that it was strange that I did not say anything negative about the concrete apron that Knox installedIf she wants a review, here it is: one end of the apron has a low spot where water pools when it rainsThe apron is also pitched toward the garage floor which causes water to run into the garage when it rainsHowever, the surface of the new apron looks good Rude? I was necessary for me to call Knox at least times, between April and the middle of July 2015, because this customer service representative would not contact meDuring the last call, I told her that I was not going to be ignored any longerShe hung up on meNot once during our conversations did I even raise my voiceI did tell her that I disagreed with her interpretation of how the asphalt was crackedShe attributed the cracks next to the apron to "vibration" from trucks driving down our one-half block cul-de-sac street -40' awayThis is pretty farfetchedShe seemed irked that I did not buy her explanation Unstable? I am not even sure what this means but it certainly is slanderous and now is part of the file at the Revdex.com In the last sentence of her letter, the customer service representative says she is unhappy with negative reviews about Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox being posted on social media sitesPerhaps, she is referring to ***'s [redacted] where Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox has reviews of which 67% are D and FTheir overall rating is C so the company is not recommended by ***'s [redacted] Maybe she means negative reviews on Yelp (3), Facebook, Yellowbot (4) or BuildZoomIf Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox did quality work, had good customer service and treated its customers with respect, it would not have to worry about negative reviews online Sincerely, [redacted] Final Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 29, 2015/10/06) */ ***Corresponding documents attached RE: Case [redacted] In response to Mr***'s last letter, most of Mr***'s statements are incorrectFirst of all Mr***'s calls were in a very negative condescending tone and very demanding, he did call and said he was not going to be ignored and He hung up Mr [redacted] told me we did not core fill the footings I told he I did not know (I NEVER told him we did not core fill) because I did not have to order with meWhen I got back to the office and checked the file we did core fill and I let him know in our next conversation so I don't why he is bringing this up now, as far as me telling him the cracks could be from a truck going down the street and vibrating that was one of many examples of how asphalt can crackI also sent the pictures of his driveway to show the age and condition of the asphalt Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox will not do any further work at the [redacted] residence as the cracks are not big enough to fill and we will not seal coat his driveway Patty [redacted] Customer Service

The stucco on my house was damaged by the concrete chute when my new steps were being put in. This was last summer and they keep promising to send someone out to repair it. There have been several times set for this which have been cancelled. They were supposed to come out today on 8/30/15 and didn't show or even call to cancel.

All I can say is avoid this company at all costs! Too much nonsense went on with a simple project to even begin to describe how awful my experience was Their employees are as awful as their work They should be ashamed of themselves and the company for how they treat people

Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 10, 2014/11/10) */ We have been corresponding with the [redacted] regarding this issueHis requested resolution is unfair and unsupportedWe will offer as always to stand behind the warranty per his contractHe also signed a checklist and received his care and maintenance booklet with details exceptions to the guaranteesThe one that affects his warranty is unstable subsoilThat is clearly a major issue on his property that was identifiedWe did everything we could and he had another company involved to install tile to reduce the water issue and stabilize his subsoilThat was their role, ours was to install the productHe should maybe consider looking into how effective his tiling is he had installed If you review the concerns he has and the contract, checklist, and booklet, all of which he signed off on, you will see we installed as agreed upon and laid out all the concerns and exceptions to the warranties clearly before work beganI will send you copies of these items as well as our letters to him responding to his complaints We did inspect the work on siteWe even brought in an industry expert who agreed the concrete and installation was fineWe have installed hundred of garage floor over the years and our installation practices are within industry standardsIn reviewing our crew notes here is how we installed the garage floor: It was very wet with a clay/limestone base when it was openedWe installed tons of limestone which is double the amount we typically expect to do given the square footage to build a foundation to support the concreteWe installed floor supports under the concrete floor as well as repairs footing blocks along the front of the garageThat is an extremely well supported floorOn top of that after the base set for we sent out basers out again to do a touch up to prep the base again prior to poring the concrete, another extra step not usually done along with the customer installing his drain tileWe installed yards of concrete completed in two poursNote we used an extra almost yards of concrete on this floor so the average thickness if more than inches as agreedTooled control joints as equally effective as saw cutsYou average 25% depth in a cut to weakened that spot to allow the concrete to move and crack in those jointsThe idea of it is that hopefully the crack stays in the joint and remain somewhat hidden but it can jump out of the jointThis does not mean the joint was ineffective it is just the nature of concreteWe installed extra materials and put in extra labor in this siteTo compare us to another company process does not even make senseWe have different material, processes, and I am sure warrantiesI am curious as to why he went with another company if he felt the prior company did an excellent jobWe have repeat customers all the time We will stand behind our work and what we guarantee for the ten years in his contractBeyond that there is nothing more we can do for him Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 12, 2014/11/19) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) My wife and I would like to take this dispute to Revdex.com arbitrationWe concur that the issue is at a standstill and we would like to reach a settlementWe would like the arbitration hearing to be conducted at our home so that the arbitrator can see the concrete situation first hand As the customer, we expected Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox to be the experts in the concrete processThis includes effectively preparing the area where they were to lay the concrete and properly isolating the concrete poured in the garage from the driveway to do as much as possible to prevent crackingAs the pictures of the cracking shows, neither was done properly Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox did not install an expansion joint along the foundation line between the garage and the driveway (please see complaint issue 2)Instead, they used what is called a tooled control jointThe cement cracking patterns in my driveway and garage are proof that using tooled control joints as a substitute for an expansion joint is not as "equally effective" as Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox claims An expansion joint would have isolated any movement between the two areas and would have greatly reduced the opportunity for crackingWithout the expansion joint, Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox created the teeter-totter effect by allowing the garage and driveway slabs to be joined together creating the board on the teeter-totterThe teeter-totter pivot point becomes the foundationLike a teeter-totter, when one side, say the driveway slab, tries to move the other side, the garage slab, tries to move in the opposite directionEventually, one side or the other or both will crack to relieve the stressThe result is the parallel cement cracking pattern you see in my garage and driveway on both sides of the pivot point, the foundationThis parallel cracking pattern started during the spring thaw of in April and MayThis was less than one year after the concrete was pouredAnd, the cement cracking pattern continues to get worse I was present during the Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox cement pouring in July The cement for the garage and driveway apron area was all part of the same pourThe second pour that Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox referred to was done on the same day - just from a different truck - at the street end of the drivewayThe expert I consulted says the proper way would be to pour either the garage or the driveway on separate days enabling one or the other to dry so that the expansion joint can be properly installed (please see points and in my complaint) During heaving rains, we have experienced water flowing back into the garageThis is caused because Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox did not recess the driveway from the garage (see point of my complaint)This can contribute to moisture in the subsoil and negate the impact of the drain tiling we had installed We were not home when the expert referenced by Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox cameTheir expert did not have access to see the entire issue because the garage doors were shut and there are no windows The expert that I had perform the analysis of the issues has years of experience in the concrete business and has worked on hundreds of concrete jobsHis findings are referenced in my complaint submitted to the Revdex.comHis summary is that Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox took too many short cuts during the cement pour process - the biggest of which was the failure to install an effective expansion joint to isolate the concrete movement in the garage from driveway and prevent water backflow into the garage We believe we have a valid reason for Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox to either redo their work or refund our money and cover the extra cost to have a different organization correct the messIf they were to do so, I would be the first to sing their praises saying they stood behind their warranty

We hired Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox Inc to remove a skirt in front of our garage that was cracked because they were in the concrete business and had the understanding and knowledge to do the jobWhen their employee came out and removed the concrete, the employee made a mistake and removed the concrete holding a brick half wall up,which caused the wall to fallYou would expect someone working in the business would know this would happen. The employee left after removing the concrete and did not inform us of his mistakeOnce we realized what he had done, we called the company and let them know and they said they would put it in the notes for the jobWe figured they would need to repair the wall before replacing the concrete, but we did not hear from the company for three weeks, when they finally called to let us know they were coming to put the new concrete inWe told them again at this time about the mistake their employee had made and they acted like they had never heard about it before but would check into itThe next week they came and replaced the concrete, they did not fix the wall, but they poured concrete up against itWe called them again to talk them about the wall and how it wasnt fixed but concreted in, and they said they would check into it and get back to usThey called back and said they would like to come out and take picturesA few days later they came out and took picturesThey called back a couple of days later and said per our contract that we were responsible for their mistake, that they would find a company that could do the work at costThey called back a few days later saying they found someone, that they would be by to look at the job and give an estimateThree weeks went by and nobody showed upWe do not and never agreed we should be repsponsible to fix this issueWe find it unreasonable that a company we hired would come in make a mistake which causes damage, and expect us to pay for their mistakeAnd then on top of it, concrete the damaged wall in which brings the cost to fix it up even more than originally Final Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 10, 2014/11/08) */ We have things in place when we sign contracts with customers to make them aware of possible outcome of constructionMany factors are out of our control and work done by another company years ago is one of themThere installation process is the reason the brick shifted they do that all the time when place directly on the concreteSo when you remove the concrete if there is no shelf to support them they moveOn the check list they signed prior to the start of work this is one o the items clearly listed so they were area of possible additional work needed and we can not always perform that work and other need to be brought in There is nothing more I can add to this requestWe have a signed document stating we are not responsible for shifting of brick if there is not 2inches of clearance between concrete and bricksThe bricks in question were resting on top of the concreteI will send you a copy of this document ***Corresponding Documents Attached Final Consumer Response / [redacted] (3000, 12, 2014/11/18) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) In your response you admitted that you knew that by removing the concrete underneath the brick it will come off and fall-"all the time when placed directly on concrete"We were never told before ther was a probability that it could happen--We would of couse have oped to leave the concrete there .It was unneccessary to remove that concrete to begin with, that was not part of the original issueYOU HAVE ALSO FAILED TO RESPOND TO THE FACT THAT YOU WERE TOLD TWICE ABOUT THE ISSUE BEFORE POURING THE CONCRETE,INSTEAD YOU JUST CONCRETED IT IN! WHICH WILL ADD TO THE REPAIR COST

this company is the worst I have ever dealt withWe signed on to have a new driveway put in in june and the rep said it would be around labor day or so when it would be put in with possible delays due to weather maybe extending it a few weeksHere it is two months past labor day and we are still waiting for the job to be completedI realize it has been a wet summer but a two month delay? I'm not even commenting on their workmanship but anytime I call to get a definite answer they are vague and always uncertain as to when the job will be completed.Bottom line...if you want a job done in a timely manner stay away from this place!

To start, I am not one to write reviews: positive or negativeBut I must warn others about this company The entire process was slowIt took the team several months just to get out to houseWhen they did show up, they cracked the concrete within the garage and did not report this issueThis had to be discovered by the us: the homeownersGetting someone out to inspect this issue was difficultAfter many calls, they finally sent someone outThe problem was resolved, but now our garage floor looks "iffy" at bestBecause we needed to get this driveway in to put in a path, I bit the bullet and said move onIt couldn't get any worseRight? It did Finally, the driveway was put in; however, this too was not done correctlyFar too much was dug out on the sidesWhen we asked about this, they said this was standard practiceThere is no way that an additional two feet plus on either side is standard practice The final straw is that our so called "new" driveway looks amateur: swirl marks and indentsBasically, they failed to smooth out the drivewayAnd, to make things worse, there is now a large crack across the entire drivewayThere is no way they would put our driveway on any advertisement or promotional material Final advice: spend your hard earned money elsewhere

As all of the other reviews have stated, this is a terribly run companyIf you want your project done in a reasonable amount of time DO NOT hire this company! We signed a contract on June 23, for a concrete sidewalk and an asphalt drivewayThe smooth talking salesman assured us the three stage project would start the second or third week in August, but of course no specific date could be givenThis should've been our first red flagAfter hearing nothing from them and noticing the salesman never even wrote down a phone contact for us, we called at end of AugustAs other reviewers said, they won't give any specific dates or infoIt should be a few more weeks because of the rain and one of the men broke his armWhat?!? You've had my down payment for two months and still can't give me a date for when you will start? They tore out our driveway on Sept 16, THREE months after signing contractThey did the concrete sidewalk on Sept And then we parked on our gravel driveway until NOVEMBER when they finally put in our asphalt driveway that is inches higher than our lawnSince we can't plant sod in November we will have to spend more money in the spring to bring our lawn up on both sides of the drivewayThe slick salesman never mentioned that! Again, do not hire this company

Once again we would like the opportunity to show Mr [redacted] that at this time we will apply the emulsion sealant and show how well the driveway will beWe will take another look in the spring of to see how it has settled and take care of any issues that may arise as there is a year warrantyPatty [redacted] Customer Service
