***'s granddaughter obviously has her facts wrong. *** came into our office in with this same insurance. At that time we told her that she had no coverage in our office. She decided to get treated anyway as a cash patient & paid at the time of service so she
could get a discount. When she came in this year, starting Sept2017, she had the same insurance & again was told she had no in-network coverage. All of the employees are scripted on what to say. There is no way that she was ever told that her visits were free. NO INSURANCE PROVIDES THAT. When she presented her card, she was told that we were not in network with this insurance. She did not ask to be a cash patient at that time, so her insurance was billed, thus she had no discount. She went back on a Maintenance/Wellness cash program in November *** came to see me on Dec 29, to set up a payment plan & make a payment. When we discussed her insurance, she said she had forgotten she paid cash last time, but she didn't realize it would be so expensive. I explained to her that she had an exam & x-rays the first visit, which would not have been covered by any Medicare or Medicare HMO. That even in network the insurance would only have paid on adjustments. Plus she had therapy every visit as she was hurting, which also is not covered by any Medicare or Medicare HMO. She understood & said she had just forgotten about the insurance & I told her I would make a note on her file for future reference that she was a cash/discount patient only unless her insurance changed
