This letter is in response to the complaint made by [redacted] against Associated Income Tax Services.
[redacted] had her income taxes prepared by me on 2-1-16 at which time she left with the completed returns in a blue folder. I...

prepared a Federal return, a California return, and an Oregon return for her. The next week she started calling the office (2-8-16) wanting the status of her refunds. She actually made a pest of herself by calling so frequently. What we didn't know (and obviously IRS didn't admit to her) was that their computer went down on 2-4-16. They did not notify consumers, nor did they tell the software companies who supply software to preparers. Approximately 2-17-16 we read about the computer failure on line. Nobody knew how that was affecting us. AND, NO, we were not informed of her return being rejected on 2-2-16 by the IRS. We contacted TAX WISE, our software company, and they started taking returns that we had e-filed on 2-1-16 to get them accepted by the IRS. They had to be unbatched and re-e-filed because of the computer failure at IRS_ So.,,of course they couldn't find her return. Her error was corrected and California and Oregon returns were e-filed. When we couldn't get her Federal return to e-file, we mailed her Federal return on 2-23-16. Later, when she was still causing trouble in my office, I called TAX WISE; and they said her IRS return was rejected by IRS because she had two Federal returns prepared by two different EIN numbers. I know she went to [redacted] to have her copy the tax returns I prepared for her. They are friends and [redacted] had prepared her 2014 returns. Remember, I am prosecuting [redacted] for embezzlement against my firm. I also have a restraining order against [redacted]. She is in violation of that order by sending [redacted] back demanding a refund for the preparation of her taxes and trying to cause a scene in my office. Since [redacted] had [redacted] do her 2014 tax returns, you may rightly wonder why she came to my office to have her 2015 returns completed. Was this their plan?? Our attorney wonders about this also! We later got a phone call from [redacted] and this tine she wanted us to stop services for the entire family. I am not refunding her money as I prepared 3 returns for her and she left with those returns! Our attorney concurs. Should she need paper returns because she cannot e-file her returns, she should go back to [redacted] for that service. I feel that this shows I acted in good faith. I prepared the three returns for her and received the money for it. She has come in demanding a refund and causing a scene in front of other clients. She has even stood on the sidewalk in front of the office to confront clients as they approached the office. By her own admission you know how many times she has contacted the office even though she knows there will be no refund.
She went to [redacted] to copy my returns. She really didn't want to resolve the issue -just cause a problem. (Remember, [redacted] did her 2014 return and they are friends.)
Very truly yours,
H. [redacted]

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 16, 2016/03/15) */
I received your correspondence on this matter between [redacted] and [redacted] on 3-3-16, So this is my response to it.
When [redacted] had his 2014 tax returns completed last year on 2-14-2015, he left with a blue folder...

containing a copy of each of his returns, as well as, all supporting documents he brought in with him. He should have had those papers to give to his tax preparer. I charge $25.00 to copy the past year's two returns and mail them out. I don't know why you have a Bakersfield address on [redacted] as our information has him living in Visalia. By e-mailing the information to him, was he trying to avoid paying the $25.00? The Fax Cover Letter was dated 1-26-16 @ 5:00 pm with 18 sheets being transmitted. I was not present when this happened; but I do know [redacted] left a note in the file about him. I am unable to ask [redacted] about this issue (complaint) as she no longer works for me. [redacted] had [redacted] do his taxes last year while she was working for Associated Income Tax Services. I have filed a suit against her; and, yes, she is being charged with a felony. I had had her bonded and was unaware of her past history in two prisons because of embezzling. The bonding company said she was clean. She spent three (3) days in jail in September 2015 for embezzling from Associated Income Tax Services. Her mug shot is on google. In one of the letters [redacted] received from me the District Attorney had me list her case number. Since it is public record, clients could contact the Visalia Police Department or the District Attorney's Office for more information. She has not worked here in my office since May 2015.
I hope this puts some light on your complaint.
Very truly yours,
H. [redacted]
