Hiland Dairy received an e-mail complaint for Mr. [redacted] at 7:02 A.M. the morning of October r, stating
that "The photo on the carton is NOT what is in the canoe, the e-mail continued to state "presumably
vanilla flavor base (norm for sea salt caramelice cream)". It became obvious that Mr. [redacted] was expecting
Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream, but had Purchased Sea Salt Caramel EspressoIce Cream
Mr. [redacted] provided a telephone number, and we attempted to contact him. The call was made at 8:30 am
(mountain time) October 7, 2016, no one answered but a message was left requesting a return call. We
then followed up with an e-mail at 2:42 P.M. on October 7, 2016, requesting code date information and
the purchase price of the container of Ice Cream as he had requested a full refund for the product. Mr.
[redacted] responded at 7:23 A.M October 8, 2016 with a thank you and the information requested On
October 10, 2016 a letter was mailed to Mr. [redacted] with a check for $[redacted].
On October 7, 2016 we pulled samples and compared the product to the color of the printed container.
The photograph on the container is tan in color and the product is very close to the same color. We
believe, based on the comments of Mr. [redacted], that he purchased the product believing that it did not
contain coffee flavoring, even though the label clearly states Espresso.
We believe this issue to be closed.
