Review: I registered for the MCAT with the AAMC for January 25, 2014 and was refused service. The refusal of service stated that the test was purchased for the AAMC user [redacted] but that my ID displayed the name [redacted]. A request for secondary ID was made that would display the name [redacted]. Employee ID (with photo that clearly displayed the same person as that in the provided driver's license) and multiple credit cards were provided. At this point, despite having clearly shown that [redacted] and [redacted] were one and the same, as well as having provided the secondary identification requested, I was still denied service.
Understanding that there are policies to which the individuals at the testing center are required to adhere to. I stated that I would update the information on my AAMC account to match the driver's license. I was told that even having done this that I would not be provided the opportunity to test. This did not coincide with the initial position that the difference in the AAMC registration and my driver's license was the reason for denial of service.
I was provided a number to call for refund/reschedule information. Upon calling the number I was told that rescheduling would require a repurchase and that there would be no refund of the initial purchase for which I had been denied service. This prompted me to request a supervisor. An individual identifying himself only by the first name of [redacted] reiterated the statements of the initial speaker, though stating that he could certainly see my side of the situation to be understandable. Upon asking if there were an individual with whom I could speak that would have the ability to make the situation right [redacted] stated that 'for today' he was the end of the line and that his position would not be changing.
Following a restatement that all that was being sought was the opportunity to test, given that I was happy to update the AAMC account name from [redacted] to [redacted] (and seeing as how the test time of 1:00pm had not yet passed), to reschedule without being charged a second time, or to be provided a refund and that if I was being refused service despite my willingness to comply with the companies requirements I would have to request that my bank reverse the charge [redacted] became agitated and threatened that if I did so that the AAMC would refuse to release my test scores to any school to which I applied.Desired Settlement: Acknowledge that I should have been allowed to test given that I was perfectly willing to meet the stated requirements.
Allow me to test without charging me a second time.
Do not hold hostage my test scores in order to receive payment for a service that I was denied despite offering all identification requested and also offering to update my AAMC account information to match the driver's license as was stated as the reason for my having been denied service in the first place.
