AST Solutions was contracted by my home insurance company to repair my refrigerator. Aaron arrived the first time and repaired leaky water lines. The fridge was also very hot and he stated the fan was not working and may have possibly contributed to the water lines breaking. A fan was apparently ordered to install at a later time. After not hearing anything for over a week, they were contacted and questioned about the status of the fan. After explaining the situation from the beginning, I was told the fan was still in the process of being ordered. I’m guessing it was never ordered and at this point it was. Anyway, another week later, Aaron arrives and installs the fan. Aaron asks me to sign a triplicate copy on a company AST form in a box that reads, “Repairs Satisfactorily Completed”. The form is blank and I tell him I won’t sign a blank form. He starts to get snippy and writes in his name as Aaron and writes “Tested ok” and “Replaced fan motor”. I printed my name and signed my initials. While we were messing with the paperwork in the kitchen where the refrigerator is at, I hear the fan and it’s very loud and making a clanking sound. My wife is also present now. I ask if the fan supposed to be loud and sound that way while pulling the fridge out to look at the back of it. The fan is very loud and sounds broken. I look at the back and ask Aaron if it is installed correctly as I’ve never heard anything that noisy come from a refrigerator. I also ask about the water that is pooled up in the tray sitting below the fan. Aaron assures me the water is normal and the fan sound is normal and installed correctly. Both my wife and I comment on how there’s no way that sound is normal. I tell Aaron I’m going to make a remark on the paperwork that the fan is loud and he refuses to let me touch the paperwork. My wife and I are looking at each other as the situation is very bizarre and Aaron is acting very weird. I told him I want to write a comment on the paper he had me sign about the noisy fan. He started to pull the clipboard away from me as I tried to write on the form. As I held on to the paper he pulled the clipboard away. I ended up ripping the paper from the clipboard as he turned away with it. He told me to keep the paper and said “[redacted]” as he walked out of the kitchen and out the front door. I followed him out and met him at his car where he wouldn’t talk and rolled his window up. I took a picture of his license plate as he drove away.
I called AST and spoke to Andrea. I explained what happened and she told me I’m not supposed to write on the paper and that there has never been a complaint against Aaron in over ten years. I began to think this was either Aaron’s mother or wife. I asked who the owner of the company was as I wanted to make a complaint. She told me she was the officer manager and she already heard my complaint. She would not divulge who the owner of the company was. She told me she was the office manager and I told her I don’t care who the office manager is, I want to know who the owner is. She told me she doesn’t care about me and hung up on me.
After researching AST Solutions on the Revdex.com I found out the Aaron Cervantes is the owner and Andrea Cervantes is the office manager. The company lists one employee and Aaron Cervantes as the owner and operator. AST has an F rating. Of the determining factors, there were five complaints on record. Four complaints have gone unanswered. I looked up AST Solutions on Yelp for more research and of the five ratings, all are one star and all horrible. Hopefully, no one would ever consider using this company again. I urge you to make a complaint through the Revdex.com. AST needs to have its license pulled.

Review: Our residential Air Conditioning system broke down. We found AST Solutions on the Internet where they advertise professional and quick repair of AC systems. We established an appointment and the repairs made to the AC unit failed after the first day. AST Solutions established a 90 warranty as per their invoice # [redacted] for $433.20. AST Solutions informed us that an additional repair of $2300.00 would be required since their previous repair did not perform as expected. I informed them that their invoice stated a 90 warranty which I asked them to honor. AST Solutions informed us they would send an email to establish next steps to fix the problem but after 7 days we have not received any communication from AST Solutions. When we try to reach them over the phone they do not answer our calls anymore. We feel it is important that this organization be stopped from future fraudulent practice.Desired Settlement: We expect a refund of our payment to AST Solutions. We have now incurred in additional expenses by contracting a more reliable and professional company.

To whom it may concern,

We did speak to Mr. [redacted] about this issue. When our technician [redacted] was out to Home owners home he replaced the part as noted in his invoice. The part did not solve the problem when the technician installed it the first time because the compressor was dying out. [redacted] explained to the home owner that the part did not start unit and compressor needed to be replaced. H/O insisted on [redacted] trying it one more time. [redacted] did as he was told in FRONT of home owner and it started on the second try. Technician warned home owner that this repair might not hold long because the compressor was not strong enough any more. Technician put everything back together and charged what was agreed before starting the repairs.

Home owner called in a day or two later saying that the air conditioner stopped working. The office got in touch with the technician and the technician advised us that unit was then going to need the new compressor. [redacted] (office) gave home owner options by phone that he can get the compressor replaced for approx. $1,500 in which we would credit $200 of what home owner had previously paid. We also gave him the option of replacing the unit for $2,350 in which we would credit $200 as well. We told home owner to think about his options, as he didn't know what he wanted to do. We asked him to let us know of his decision and we could do the repair the same week. The home owner was well informed through the process on what was going on.

We cannot issue any refund due to the fact that our technician did the labor agreed and the part is still installed and is no longer returnable because it is now used. We did not refuse home owner any service to continue trying to solve his issue.

Sincerely,

AST Management

Review: I hired this company to repair my Washer/Dryer laundry center. They evaluated the machine but their estimate for repair was too high. They offered to sell me a used machine in their warehouse that they felt would suit my needs. I agreed to buy the new machine. When it arrived it was not the type of machine for my unit. My unit is electric only and they brought a gas machine. I talked to them again and the price for a electric unit was almost double. I decided then to cancel any orders with this company. I spoke to them and asked them to remove the wrong machine and that I would only pay the $55 estimate fee which they agreed at that time. The machine was removed. They also took my old machine and all of the tubes/wires. I was not happy with them removing my old machine and all the wires as the dryer still worked and I needed the tubes for a new machine. I ended up buying a new machine from a new company.

Several weeks later I found a new fee for $65 on my credit card. I called the company to ask about it. They refused to refund the additional charges.

Overall this company has had very poor customer service. They arrived at my home with children to do the repair. They were late to all of the appointments. They seemed to be very disorganized and had trouble with things I would consider basic for an appliance pro such as repairing a machine, determining if a machine is gas or electric, estimating man power needed to deliver a machine.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $65 that was charged to my credit card

I would like a refund of $100 for the vent tubing/power cables/hoses that were removed without my permission

I would like a refund of $350 for the washer/dryer center that was taken by their company after I asked them not to do any additional work

Review: I first spoke with AST on Wed. Aug 28, 2013, to schedule a technition to come out and look at my leaky washing machine. They scheduled service for 8/29/13 between 5 pm and 7 pm. The technition diagnosed the problem but told me he did not have the part with him. I was told the part would be available 8/30/13 and he would be back to complete the repair on 8/30/13 between 5pm and 7pm. When I spoke with Johanna as AST on 8/30/13 I was told that the wrong part showed up at the warehouse. The correct part would not be available until 9/2/13 but that they could do the repair that day between 8am and 11am. I told them that I WAS available that day but just wanted to remind them that was a holiday. They said that was NOT a problem because they were not closed. I spoke with them on the morning of 9/2/13 and they told me the warehouse in fact was NOT open and they were not able to get the part. We rescheduled service for 9/3/13 between 5pm and 7pm. They called me on that day at 2:30 pm to confirm the appointment and I called them at 4:46pm to RE-confirm that appointment. I was told the technition was finishing the job before me and would be on his way soon. The technition never arrived and I was never called. I called several time the evening of 9/3/13, and the morning of 9/4/13 before my call was answered on my work phone.

I asked for a full refunt. They said they would not give me a full refund, that at a minimum I would be charged [redacted] service fee for their initial visit. (I paid $128.98 by check on 8/30/13). I reminded them that their Web site and business card said "Free initial visit with repair". I told them I had every intention of having the repair done by them until they missed THREE service appointments. They said the only thing they could do was refund $15 of the $128.98 fee. I told them I didn't think that was reasonable. The office manager told me it was reasonable because as soon as the technition left for my job he was "wasting gas and wasting time" because he could have been making $500 at an air conditioner repair.Desired Settlement: I told the office manager that I would gladly pay for the part and tax but though the labor should be complimentary considering the multiple missed appointments and service timeline guarentees.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

Yes, [redacted] (Tenant) did give our office a call later in the evening Wed 8/28 requesting an appointment and we advised her that we were booked for the night, but could have someone out there the following morning. She advised us that she worked during the day and would only be available after 5 pm. Our office representative then asked the manager if we can do anything for this homeowner since she was asking for an after hour appointment and was given the ok to schedule. We went out there Thurs. 8/29 after 5 pm as requested from tenant and tech found that a drain hose was torn. Gave her the best rate possible as she is calling an established company, not a craigslist or penny saver technician. Tech let the tenant know that the part needed was not in stock (vehicle) and would have to follow up with her tomorrow because all the suppliers close @ 5 pm. Friday 8/30 the office was trying to locate the part and none of the suppliers locally had the part in stock. The office got in contact with tenant letting her we located the part from one of our local distributers, but from there branch up north and arrives next business day, but it was a Friday and the supplier do not ship on weekends and would have to be for Monday. However, Monday 9/2 was a holiday and our suppliers usually send us a notice advising us that they are closed. This time they did not and we did arrange an appointment with tenant for Monday morning. Our office was working this holiday but dispatcher was not aware our warehouse would be closed. Monday morning we called the tenant letting her know we would have to reschedule for Tues and tenant again asked for an appointment after 5 pm. Our office gave her a call around 5:45 pm Tues. to verify if she was going to be in to send the tech over. Tenant did not answer, so our staff is instructed not to send technician over, understanding that in some cases customers have family emergencies or simply forget about there appt. Tenant states she called in to verify her appointment earlier this day to confirm appt. Which was told, yes she was on our schedule. Being in the service industry for over 8 years we have had many situations where no one is home when tech arrives. (For example, a h/o called in the morning of her appointment to verify she was on the schedule for later that evening. We confirmed and when tech arrives no one was home, called her phone number and no one answered. That customer then called 30-40 min later after the tech was sent away stating she completely forgot and ran to the grocery store) We made this policy for our customers, because if we keeping wasting time and money on these types of situations, we would not be able to offer great pricing on our repairs. We offered the h/o a $15 reimbursement, which are not in anyway obligated to do so. Will not be issuing a refund as h/o has been aware of her situation. It's unfortunate that her problem arose on a holiday weekend, but is no ones fault.

Sincerely,

AST Management

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I was absolutely NOT called on 9/3/13. However, the two previous calls that day, including one at 4:46 p.m. just 14 minutes before my appointment time, should have more than sufficed as confirmation of the service appointment. The technician did finally show up on 9/4/13 at 7:15 p.m., 15 minutes PAST the 5-7 pm appointment window. He took 8 minutes and 36 seconds to install the new part and was on his way before adequately testing his work. After he left I ran a load of laundry and within seconds it was apparent the machine was still leaking. Upon further inspection, it looked as though the new part was not secured tight enough. The technician was sent out again on 9/5/13 to correct the problem. This time he DID check his work. More than a week after first contacting this company the machine was finally repaired. This repair was promised to be completed time and time again. The customer service was horrid and I still feel a reimbursement for the labor would be fair.

Regards,

AST came out to my residence on 11/7 to look at my appliance and I wrote them a check for the initial diagnostic fee. They never called me back and would not return my calls. It has been almost 3 weeks and I'm confident they had no intentions to fix my appliance. They took my money and ran.
