 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
Once again, Mr. J[redacted]'s response does not contain all of the information regarding this case and does not address my complaint. It seems obvious that he does not understand the full nature of the complaint or the facts involved.
The main issue with ASTD and the CPLP program is NOT that I received a failing grade. This issue is that I did not receive adequate feedback through the grading process to formulate an appeal based on facts, nor did I receive enough information to create a plan of action to correct anything that may have been wrong in order to obtain a passing grade on a resubmit.
Mr. J[redacted] is also not telling you that I would have had to submit an entirely new project for regrading. The original project took months to complete, and from the correspondence I received (and still have in my files) from ASTD, I got the impression that I would have received a failing grade if I submitted a new project anyway. I was told that I would could not receive any further feedback on my grade because of certain "standards" that were being followed. When I simply asked what those standards were, the HR director told me in an e-mail that they would no longer communicate with me on this matter. This was prior to the resubmit deadline. Based on this response, I was brought to no other conclusion that I had been scammed and that any future work would not have been graded fairly or graded at all. By not supplying adequate feedback, ASTD was violating one of their own principles of training. Without knowing why I was given a bad grade, they could create any score they wished to without having to justify it.
None of the statements I made regarding this matter have been false. Mr. J[redacted] has threatened legal action against me and has sent me harassing letters in order to bully me into submission.
The offer that ASTD made to me was for $700. I spent $1300 on this course and a year of my time in completing it. I told Mr. J[redacted] that I would accept no less than $1300 if ASTD wants to settle this matter, and I did not find their offer anywhere close to being reasonable. I also offered to return the books I purchased for the program, which cost $300, and my offer was rejected. If ASTD still refuses to refund all of my money after this response, I will double the amount required to settle this dispute with each rebuttal I have to submit. And I will continue to tell others the truth about my experience with this organization because I don't want to see anyone treated the way I was and continue to be.
Regards,

CERTIFICATION INSTITUTE Association for Talent DevelopmentApril 26, 2016[redacted] The Revdex.com 1411 K Street NW, 10" floor Washington, DC 20005-3404Mr. [redacted],We are responding to the letter sent by The Revdex.com dated April 18, 2016 regarding...

complaint #[redacted] submitted by the Applicant. The Association for Talent Development (ATD), formerly ASTD, is the world's largest association dedicated to those who develop talent in organizations. ATD provides many opportunities for practitioners to develop their knowledge and skills.
The Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) certification offered by the ATD Certification Institute (The Institute) is broad-based and addresses professionals' knowledge and performance in 10 Areas of Expertise as defined by the ATD Competency Model. Individuals who earn the CPLP credential must meet eligibility requirements, pass a knowledge exam, and pass a work product assessment that demonstrates the application of knowledge and skills. More than 1,900 professionals from around the world have obtained the CPLP credential over the lifetime of the program.
This Applicant enrolled in the CPLP certification program in July 2015 and successfully passed the CPLP knowledge exam in December 2015. The Applicant submitted a work product in February 2016. The Applicant's work product was reviewed by two randomly assigned, independent raters who were CPLP credential holders with deep subject matter expertise. The work product submission process is blind, meaning that Applicant contact information is confidential and not disclosed to the raters. The Applicant's work product submission failed to achieve a passing score. The Applicant was understandably disappointed with a failing score and has submitted an appeal.
While it is regrettable that the Applicant was unsuccessful in passing the CPLP work product assessment, the failure to do so is not based on any misrepresentations made by ATD or The Institute regarding testing or retest fees communicated to this Applicant. Further, services promised to the Applicant were delivered in full as defined by the candidate agreement signed by the Applicant. Accordingly, ATD and The Institute respectfully submit that there is no merit to this complaint.
Sincerely,
Tony B

to as the Applicant) on or about June 2, 2014.By way of brief background, ASTD is the world’s largest association dedicated to those who develop talent in organizations, ASTD was founded in 1943 and has over 41,000 members from over 126 countries who work in public and private organizations in every industry sector. ASTD is also the source of trusted, vetted, and relevant content for the training and development profession and provides a wealth of opportunities for practitioners to grow and develop their knowledge and skills. The Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) certification helps practitioners validate their knowledge and skills and is a nationally recognized credential offered by The Institute. The CPLP credential is broad-based and addresses training and development professionals’ knowledge and performance in 10 Areas of Expertise (AOEs) as defined by the ASTD 2013 Competency Model. Individuals who wish to pursue this credential must meet program eligibility requirements and pass a rigorous examination and evaluation process. CPLP is a professional certification program and not a certificate program. Certification programs are designed to assess an individual’s existing knowledge, skills, or competencies independent of instruction or training. The individual’s knowledge and performance is measured against predetermined standards,The Applicant enrolled in the CPLP certification program in July 2013. After successfully passing the knowledge examination, the Applicant provided a required work product submission. This work product was reviewed by two randomly assigned, independent raters who were CPLP credential holders with deep subject matter expertise. The Applicant’s work product submission failed to achieve a passing score. The Applicant was understandably disappointed with a failing score and submitted an appeal. This appeal was denied because the Applicant failed to identify scoring errors, improprieties, or improper procedures that would warrant reconsideration of the failing score, and the Applicant was given the opportunity to submit a new work product - at no additional cost - in order to achieve à passing Score. The Applicant chose not to do so and proceeded to make and disseminate false and defamatory statements about ASTD and The Institute on multiple social media outlets. To that end, ASTD and The Institute have already engaged the undersigned as legal counsel and communication to the Applicant has occurred. While it is regrettable that the Applicant was unsuccessful in the attempt to pass the CPLP work product assessment, the failure to do so is not based on any alleged misrepresentations by either ASTD or The Institute. Further, services promised to the Applicant were delivered in full as defined by the candidate agreement signed by the Applicant. Accordingly, ASTD and The Institute respectfully submit that there is absolutely no merit to the Applicant's Revdex.com complaint.Sincerely,
