Review: We made reservation through Expedia.com for the Astor Hotel in Milwaukee for four nights. This was based on the reviews on Expedia and description of the hotel by the Astor Hotel.
The description of the hotel stated:
1) a queen size bed;
2) free wi-fi;
3) clean establishment
Upon checkin, we noted that the bed was not queen size. At best, it was full-size. When we went down to the front desk to inquire about the bed, we were forcefully told it was a queen size bed. We asked about switching rooms, and we're told bluntly by the front desk staff that this wasn't possible. (After this staff's shift ended, we were able to change rooms. Though, the bed was still just a full size bed.)
When we logged on to the free wi-fi, the service was essentially non-operational. It was essentially 1990's dial-up speed.
The hotel was not clean, to say the least. The bathrooms were moldy and decrepit. The doors wouldn't close. The power outlets were questionable, hanging off the wall. The rear exit of the hotel had a severe spider colony living there, at least 10 very large spider in the inside, several on each window on the outside. The rooms smelled very bad, of mildew, moth [redacted] and other smell of which I'd rather not know about.
First and foremost, it's false advertising. It's not a queen size bed. It's not free wi-fi if it doesn't work. And, I shouldn't need to be worried about being bit by a black widow spider every time I enter the hotel.
To top if all off, the staff at the front desk were incredibly rude and disrespectful.Desired Settlement: - partial refund of 50% of total cost.
- hotel corrects their current false advertising.
- hotel cleans up spider colony, preventing a serious health situation.
- hotel gets all services working as stated.
