astoria auto repair Reviews (1)

Review: I took my 1999 Hyandai Elantra to Astoria Auto Repair towards the end of May for an inspection, emission, oil change, and two tires. I paid for the tires but I did not recieve them and I did not have any knowledge if he performed the oil change because the owner did not provide any receipts or proof of repairs. I paid $240.00 for all these items to be done and I got my vehilce back on Saturday, June 1, 2013. I was going to pay with my debt card, however, the owner informed me that I had to pay with cash, so I sent my daughter to [redacted] bank across the street to get the cash. We drove the car off the lot and it was fine. On Tuesday, June 4, 2013, the car started overheating and smoking. My daughter took the car back to Astoria and informed one of the employees that the car is overheating. The employee informed my daughter to call the owner at 9:30a.m due to the fact that the owner was not available until then. I called the owner at 9:30 a.m. and explained the situation at hand. He stated to me that he is going to check it out and call me back. An hour later, he called me and told me why the car is overheating. He said I needed a new radiator and it is going to cost me $200.00 to replace it. I informed him that it was ok and I will pick the car up on Saturday, June 8. 2013. My daughter and her boyfriend went to get the car for me because I was in the hospital. She asked the owner if the car was fixed and if it was going to overheat again. The owner said no and she took the car home. The car started overheating again on Sunday, June 9, 2013. I then took the car back on him on Monday, June 10, 2013 and explained to him that the car is still overheating. I also asked him if he can check the themorstat. He first told me ok and he will have the mechanic look at the thermorstat. Afterwards, he told me that it could be the head gasket and I had to wait until Tuesday, June 11, 2013 because his mechanic was out ill. I informed him that it was ok and I was going to leave the car until then. However, I did ask him if he can have the mechanic check the themorstat first. He said ok and if it is the themorstat, he will fix it without any problems. About an hour to an hour in a half later, the owner called me and told me that the fan was not turning on and it was going to cost me $130.00 to be fixed. I went to pick up my car and I asked him if he had the mechanic check the thermostat and he answered no. The mechanic was in the shop the whole time I was talking with the owner and not once did the owner asked the mechanic to explain to me what was going on with the car.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of all my money because he did not give me the tire that I already paid for and they promised to keep my car from overheating. I have no knowledge that he had performed the oil change and I did not receive any receipts of any of the work to that he had supposely done. The only paperwork that I received from the owner was the inspection stickers that go on the windshield of the vehicle. My car is still overheating and I can't not drive it. I am without a car and I had doctor appointments that I have to get to.
