To whom it may concern,Astoria Cleaners has been serving the Astoria Community since 1997, I have owned & operated the Astoria Cleaners since We are not in the business of damaging people clothes or providing a bad customer experience Plaintif [redacted] has been a customer of Astoria Cleaners from May ***, until her most recent order May [redacted] [redacted] loved the impeccable cleaning, quality of our pressing, packaging & friendly staff of Astoria Cleaners When she would call the store for delivery she had a special relationship with our store manager Silvia When I spoke to [redacted] regarding her garments she explained to me that my cleaners was the best & she loved our service & especially she loved my store manager etc etc I wanted to keep her as a customer & offered her a store credit Posted in the store is a common policy in the dry-cleaning industry “not responsible for lost or damaged clothing No refunds store credit only" At no time ever has a member of my Staff, said to any one, ever, about a “plant being on premise”Astoria Cleaners is a small drop store that is small, square ftupon walking in a customer can see front to back My staff is trained to explain that our cleaning is performed by a couture cleaner & not sent to a low quality wholesaler (common to many cleaners in Astoria) We are not the cheapest but we are the best, not only from our finished product but also from our friendly & experience staff Cleaning was done by www.worldclasscleaners.com The Owner of world cleaners was a personal friend of mine but had staffing issues & I discontinue service with them due to quality control issues & lack of consistency due to staffing issues they had Since this issue with [redacted] Waltons damaged garments we now use new Couture cleaner that is equally as good if not better with no issues since.Astoria Cleaners has a very low error margin This is because we have many controls in place & garments are thoroughly inspected @ multiple points in processing from receiving & tagging to sorting, pre & post cleaning pressing & packing I have seen on average 1-garments a year damaged in cleaning some times a seam will open in the wash or perhaps a shirt could get damaged on a shirt unit etc [redacted] s had a four garments that received slight discoloration, of the garments were fully corrected with not issue or trace of discoloration The only garments that could not be corrected was her Haute Hippe Beige Pants & Elizabeth J [redacted] beige blazer (made in china) Her blazer she explained to me was years old & has no receipt Please see the photos enclosed that have been digitally marked in red to show the garments stated as returned slightly discoloredThe Blazer size & the pants size 8, a large size & evident in the photo the garments are large & by no means have they shrunk upon our returning them to her.I sincerely apologized to the plaintiff & explained its standard reimbursement from the National Cleaners association that a cleaner commonly would pay times the cost of the cleaning for damaged garments that were new In the plaintiffs case garments were returned with slight dark discoloration not very visible on garments that were over years OLD cleaning cost on the pants & on the blazer Total $ ten times the cost of that cleaning would be $store credit The Plaintiff also has an unpaid balance of $that was not charged to her card that we have on file as we were trying to give her a store credit please see the enclosed photosIf we deducted the cost of the cleaning on the garments with slight/ barely visible hues of discoloration that would bring the unpaid balance to $91.40Customer credit of $Minus the Customers unpaid balance would be a store credit of $I would be happy to issue
