Case Summary:  Pet presented...

with 2 small mammary masses on 11/14/14.  The pet is a seven year old, un-spayed female, putting her at much greater risk on mammary cancer.  The owner was given an estimate for standard of care in this situation, which was pre-anesthetic blood work, IV catheter and IV fluids during anesthesia, spay and mammary mass removal, biopsy on the mammary masses and post-op pain medications.  The owner declined the blood work, IV catheter, IV fluids, spay and biopsies.  The pet was admitted for anesthesia and surgical excision of the mammary masses on 12/5/14.  The masses were removed and the pet was sent home on Metacam (a NSAID pain medication).  The pet was discharged from the hospital later the same day, which is typical for a surgery of this nature.  The owner called that night frantic, claiming her dog was in pain and didn't get pain medication.  The pet received two forms of pain medication, an injection pre-operatively and Metacam sent home with her upon discharge.  The owner was then told an additional pain medication (Tramadol) would be prescribed that she could pick up at her convenience.  By reading the owners complaint with the Revdex.com, I think she doesn’t understand what medications were sent home with her and why.  The owner claimed in the formal complaint and in the phone conversation with the hospital staff that the Metacam is just an arthritis medication and that the Tramadol in a seizure medications, which is not accurate.  I hope this clarifies the case.

Review: My old poodle got breast cancer at age 7. My two little girls.grew up with our dog,n poo t just a dog but a much loved family member. Breast Cancer is serious! For humans and animal's. My dog the day after surgery is in alot of pain!I paid f poo r pain meds but instead they gave my poor dog arthritis medication.I called and told them how much pain she is in and then they gave her a sezer medication, they just keep running price up by constantly give different meds that are not helping her. Now her breathing is slowing down along with.her heart rate due to severe pain!Desired Settlement: Spent over $400 for my kids on Xmas to have their dog of meny years, our family will never be the same know now I should have went somewhere else. They told me she will be fine and we got meny more years with her. Not true shes slowly dying now.
