Do not use Atco energy
You will be very sorry if you do. They do not care about their customers. I am a disabled low income senior that never had gas at his home before. Had to deal with Atco the utility and Atco the money collector (pimp). So Atco the utility comes to my home, shuts off the gas to my furnace without notice to in stall a new meter. When they came back to turn on my furnace they broke my furnace. So 4 months later it is still not fixed after they agreed to fix it.
So I assumed that Atco the pimping outfit and the utility were one and the same. So I phoned the pimping outfit and told them I was not paying the bill until they fixed the furnace. So 2 months later they sent me to collections department. At that time they informed they were not one and the same. So what the utility did was not their concern. Pay up or else. So I got a previous payment straightened out. then I said I was a low income disabled senior and I didn’t have the money to pay on the account until the end of the month because that’s when I got my pension monies. So they said to me that they did not care they were going to come after me so I then paid 80 percent of the bill when I got my check. then I find out that they cut me off even though they told I would be fine if I paid 50 percent of the bill. So I am very happy and so blessed to not have this outfit to deal with the fees they charge that are outrageous. I will never use gas again after that. So the moral of this story is that I will be informing the 1000s of people I know in Alberta how I was treated by Atco the collections company.

ATCO is only there for your money
Our three year plan expired and the rates went up insanely - fair enough because all energy companies are gouging this year. As a long time customer I asked to redo our bill, which they refused. Fine. The response is customer are free to switch to other providers. That's a pain so sucked it up and went on another fixed rate plan.

I get the next bill and it doesn't reflect the changes - apparently being billed for the month previous to the change. I'm not happy, but okay. What can they do about my bill. $50 credit on a $700 bill. No thanks. How do I cancel. Their response, let me process that for you.

Moral of the story - they only care about getting the most money possible from customers. Maybe the next company will be better. New service starts December 4th.

They will never see another dime from me, my family and anyone I convince not to use ATCO. They get one star because I can't give them zero.
