My husband and I were sold this as a quasi annuity by the financial agent we were dealing with at the time. After having it for several years upon retirement we started to take quarterly distributions. We had moved at this point and our new financial agent did not like annuities but decided to keep it. The original agent never told us we should take out joint survivors level.
Athene CS never gives a straight answer. Answers change by rep that you get on the phone. They erroneously sent a free withdrawal which I had to return but I don’t see any accounting for it. Also my quarterly distribution from my income rider was double the amount I should have received.
Athene only has one phone number to access them and when you go through the drill the last 4 digits of SS number it says sorry error. I have tried 15 times today to access them.
