Athene Annuity Reviews (%countItem)

Refusal to release my *** pension lump sum amount to me. *** transferred their pension program to Athene in 2019.
My *** pension was due to begin on April 1, 2019, the month after my *** birthday (my birth date is ***
Before this pension began, the pension program itself was transferred to Athene.
Paperwork to determine my verified choice of distribution (lump sum of *** did not arrive until early November 2019. The indicated paper (as specified in the document itself) was immediately faxed in to Athene.
Repeated calls to my "case manager" for verification of effective paperwork submission only went to voicemail. No return calls.
A call to a Generic Case Specialist on 12/3/2019 revealed the need for additional paperwork (I was never notified of this). Full paperwork submission (also now including my Indiana driver's license and *** form) was then faxed in to Athene, and the original notarized spousal consent form was also physically mailed in to Athene as directed by the Case Specialist.
My Financial Adviser called about 2 weeks later to notify me that she had contacted the Case Specialist herself when no pension distribution was sent to me to then deposit in my IRA. The Specialist then advised that they needed a clearer fax of my driver's license, and in addition, they needed a copy of my marriage certificate...!
The marriage certificate and a larger image of my driver's license were then faxed in to Athene.
I made a call to the Case Specialist on 01/11/2020 for a status update. Needed to leave a voicemail message. I have not received a return call to date (01/23/2020).
I recently received a written document, dated 01/13/2020, from the Athene office in Norfolk, VA stating that additional documentation was still needed! The letter requested proof of my birth date (this is PLAINLY indicated on my Indiana driver's license, sent in earlier), and they required a copy of my Power of Attorney!!
I do not know why a Power of Attorney for whomever is needed to send a check directly to me for the lump sum distribution of my valid pension. I had been advised that I have 60 days to deposit this into a valid IRA
I feel that Athene is holding up my valid *** pension as hostage for whatever reason. This could be a breach of contract with *** itself, as they expected a good faith distribution of all its pensions.
I have already lost the accrued IRA interest on this pension from April 2019.
At this time I just want Athene to fulfill the contractual obligation they made to *** and subsequently to me! I need my lump sum pension!

Desired Outcome

I need to receive a check for my full lump sum *** pension of

I have received an indication that Athene will honor my request to pay out my *** pension. Paperwork I have received mentions the monthly pension (supposedly beginning with the March payment, but at least by the April payment) as one of their generic customer service reps tersely told me in a phone conversation. I wait to see if Athene will honor the full pension payout option as all my submitted paperwork was requesting. The specific phone number of the agent I had worked with prior to the *** submission no longer works from my phone. My call is immediately dropped. My hope is that this company will now fulfill its obligation. Thank you for your assistance!!

> Actually, I am somewhat satisfied. I did receive a check for my lump sum pension payout on March 5, 2020. In addition, I received another check for *** I was not sure what this amount covered. My financial advisor called Athene and actually spoke to the original case manager for my pension. She was not sure what the extra check was for and checked with a couple of managers, who also saw no notes on my account. They assumed it was accrued interest earned to date on my pension. (In my Revdex.com submission I did make mention that "at this time I was only pressing for my pension payout"). Maybe Athene took my missed accrued interest to heart.
