Review: Repair Issues

Atkinson sold me a truck for $68,900. A truck that was inspected by Atkinsons and sold to me as a good truck by your Salesman [redacted]. Since purchasing the truck over a month ago, I've experienced nothing problems and discover that the excellent workmanship was poor workmanship. I've to replace

1. Tires: 2 FRONT tires, that was rubbing against the bumper and 4 rear tires

2 king Pin ( Front Axle)

3. Radiator and Fan . The radiator had only 2 bolts holding it in place.

4. U joints

5. adjust hoses that was rubbing against the motor

6. Steering box

7.PTO Pump and Valve causing the dump bed not to go up .

8. New Air conditioner

I've spent an additional 5k-10k on this truck after purchasing. This truck is Lemon just disguise as a good truck.

Today: August 10, 2015. The truck caught on fire, the computer board burned up, the fire department saw flames coming from the truck and hosed the truck down with water. The truck is now not working. I believe that you knowingly sold me a bad truck with many mechanical issues and I trusted and believe your salesman and shop manager [redacted] that I was truly purchasing a good truck. I ask your salesman [redacted] do not sell me a truck with mechanical issues that I'm a small business and I cannot afford to be saddled by mechanical repairs.Desired Settlement: Refund and Comparable truck at the price purchased.

[redacted] DBA [redacted] called on or about 05/12/2015 to inquire about purchasing the 2005 Kenworth W900S Quad Axle dump truck. On 05/14/2015 Mr. [redacted]s wired in a $1000.00 deposit to hold the truck until his financing was complete. On or about 06/22/2015 Mr. [redacted]s inspected and test drove the truck and was very satisfied at which time he took the truck home. At no time was any kind of warranty implied, expressed or given. Mr. [redacted]s signed his “ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF AS-IS SALE” form, as well as his “PURCHASE DISCLAIMER” forms. Copies are attached with this letter. Thanks[redacted]Atkinson Truck Sales

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

During the time of purchase the salesman [redacted] assured me that this was a good truck. I ask [redacted] should I purchase a warranty he advise me that I should not purchase a warranty. Simply, I trusted the salesman and believe that he was not selling me a defective truck. I ignored all warning signs for example1. The truck overheated 3 miles away from Atkinson dealership during the first attempt to drive by home. They was selling me a truck with a Bad Radiator, Fan and Thermostat.2. Atkinson performed Safety Inspection and DOT Inspection and sold me the truck: Conflict: I requested a independent inspection which before purchase which Atkinson Truck sales refuse to pay for. The didnot perform a thorough safety inspection to many defective parts. 3. This vehicle was listed as SALVAGE on the CAR FAX Report. The salesman didnot disclose any of that information to me. The company had to be well aware of the condition of the truck before sale including the maintenance history.I have text messages communicating directly to the salesman [redacted] regarding the mechanical repairs and problems I am/ was expericing with the truck. Even though the paperwork stated as-is, No consumer should be sold a defective product and on top of trusting a business, trusting a salesman and taking his advice on the truck. I allowed myself to trust this guy!!After all the mechanical repairs, the truck caught fire on August 8 (cause by the fuse box and faulty wiring of the truck). I have not driven or work the truck since August 8. This experience has been a nightmare and I will advise any consumer to stay away from Atkinson Truck Sales.

Response:

As a potential buyer of this truck you had every right to have the truck inspected by an independent mechanic at your expense. We are sorry you’ve had problems with the truck since purchase. You were aware of the Carfax report before you purchased the truck, you had asked [redacted] about the rebuilt/salvage title back in May, you purchase the truck in June. We did give you a price break on this truck, the original price was $92,000 and sold to you for $69,900.This truck was sold “As-is”[redacted]

Regards,

First of all, The salesman assured me the truck was in good conditions with no problems and not salvage. As for as the inspection Atkinson offered to do the state and DOT inspection and confirmed the vehicle was good without any problems. Finally, I did not ask for a discount nor was it discussed that the vehicle was originally priced at $92,000 and sold it for $69,000 implying that you gave me a deal is false. What you gave me is a beat up/broke truck with a lot of hidden and covered issues such as salvage. It was my fault for trusting this company and it's sales representative. I would have gladly paid more money for a quality truck. This was my first truck purchase out of 3 purchases total this has been the worst experience. This company only cares about a dollar no matter how they get it by falsely presenting quality when really its garbage. I've learned my lesson since this first purchase never trust or believe what a salesman is presenting. There were many red flags, like radiator, thermostat, tires, wiring. SALVAGE IS NOT ON THE TITLE OF THE TRUCK.

Review: I completed a wire transfer of $2000 as a deposit for purchase of a vehicle. The purchase was never successful. Neither the salesman nor a manager are returning my phone calls about refunding my deposit.Desired Settlement: Refund of deposit

Business

Response:

[redacted] said consumer came into the shop and wanted to buy a truck. He was told if they did all the stuff to the truck he wanted the deposit would be non-refundable. He left saying he had to get his affairs in order. A few weeks later he wired the deposit, work was done to the truck, then he decided later he no longer wanted the truck.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. When I went to the lot, I was shown a truck that the salesman guaranteed he could get me approved for. Before an approval came, the salesman ([redacted]) asked for a deposit. I said I would wait for the approval. I did not get approved for the truck, that's why I left the location without leaving a deposit. The salesman called me a few days later informing me there was another truck that had just came in that I could get approved for based on the price of the truck and the dealership doing no additional work to the truck. I never asked them or told them to do any additional work. I was informed by the salesman that in order for them to sell the truck as a dealer there were a few things they had to do to pass VA inspection. That was not work or repairs I requested, but whatever they were required to do to sell the truck as a dealer. I was not informed that my deposit was nonrefundable. I did not sign anything that stated my deposit was nonrefundable. When I called the salesman to request a refund of my deposit, he stated that he needed to get the authorization from his manager. He never said my deposit was nonrefundable. I called and spoke to Mr. [redacted], he never stated my deposit was nonrefundable. Mr. [redacted] stated that he needed to check my information and call me back. Mr. [redacted] never returned the call to give any information regarding my deposit. All I'm asking for is the return of my deposit.

Response:

Mr. [redacted] came down to, Atkinson Truck Sales, lnc, on April 6,2015 to look for a Tr¡-Axle DumpTruck. After selecting one, We came into my office to discuss. We agreed on pricing and work to bedone. I asked Mr. [redacted] for a deposit so we could start on getting the Truck ready for him ([redacted]).He asked me if the deposit was refundable, I told him no. Mr. [redacted] then stated that he would notleave one until he got his financing approved. I was understanding of that. So he left and went back to[redacted]. On April 10, 2015, he got the approval and was good with the terms. I emailed him theBuyer's order and Wiring Information on the 13th of April. Mr. [redacted] received the email and wired usthe deposit on the 15th of April. We started getting the Truck ready for him to pick up that Saturday(18th). After several weeks of him not picking up the Truck. Mr. [redacted] called and asked if I knew ofany insurance companies. He was having a hard time finding insurance that was affordable to him. Heasked several times to give him more time to work on this, and we did. After not getting insurance in hisprice range, he told me that he was not going to be able to get the Truck. He asked if deposit would bereturned. I told him that it would not.[redacted]

Again, I never verbally nor in writing agreed to a non refundable deposit. When I could not get the truck, I called and requested my refund. I asked the secretary who do I speak with regarding my refund. She said your salesman. I asked my salesman ([redacted]) how do I get my refund. He said he needed to get the authorization from his boss. I called his boss, the manager ([redacted]), to find out what the process was to get my refund. He said he would check my information and give me a call back. I spoke with 3 different people at this company and no one said my deposit was nonrefundable until they got the letter from the Revdex.com. They were no longer responding to my messages, which is the reason I contacted the Revdex.com. All I'm asking this multi million dollar company to do is refund my little $2000.

Regards,

Review: Our dump truck hauling company purchased two Mack dump trucks from Atkinson Truck Sales in October 2015. Exactly one day after purchasing the trucks, we had major mechanical issues that caused one of the trucks to stay in the shop for over a week. Since then, the trucks have consistently been in the shop for repairs every week. We also noticed that the trucks they delivered did not match the pictures of the trucks they sent us. Various external parts had either been removed or they fraudulently sent us a different truck. When we contacted [redacted] (our sales person) to inform him of the issue and to see if any explanation could be offered, he told us that "we should buy our trucks from somewhere else" and not to call back. Bear in mind we'd just spent over $190,000.00 with Atkinson Truck Sales.

For the last 4.5 months, we have lost money because the trucks have been inoperable more than 75% of the time due to internal mechanical failures. Since October, we've spent over $20,000.00 to fix major mechanical issues that should have been fixed before the trucks were sold to us. We've taken the trucks to [redacted] ([redacted]) and their technicians told and showed us where the trucks had been rigged and taped (with gray tape) internally before they were sold to us.

At this point, we are extremely frustrated because instead of making money - which we should be doing after almost five months of having the trucks -- we are losing money due to constant mechanical repairs. The fact that they think they can continue to get away with this type of fraudulent, unethical behavior without any repercussions tells me that Atkinson Truck Sales could care less about me or anyone else as a customer. If you read the reviews on this company, you'll see that they have a long-standing reputation of making it a practice to deceive and scam customers by selling faulty, inoperable, lemon trucks.

Moving forward, we've decided to take legal action and inform the appropriate persons of the actions of Atkinson Truck Sales because they simply refuse to acknowledge nor take responsibility for selling us an inoperable, faulty, lemon trucks.Desired Settlement: We would like for Atkinson Truck Sales to either reimburse us for the repair work we've had done on the trucks or give us a refund for the truck that has been down for three months (out of 4.5 months) due to major mechanical issues that Atkinson Truck Sales should have been aware of before the truck was sold.

Review: I purchased a dump truck. (The asking price was $23,900.00 I paid $25,500.00.) The salesman ([redacted]) and I agreed for additional money certain things would be fixed. I paid the money. Some things were fixed and some were ignored. The day I test drove the truck I got ready to check the lights [redacted] told me I didn't need to, the truck had to be inspected so they were required to work before the truck left the lot. The truck wasn't inspected. None of the lights work. The a/c was supposed to be fixed also, it half works. I was then told the truck was sold as is after I paid an additional $1600.00 above the asking price for these things to be fixed. I called and asked to speak to the G.M. I was ignored.Desired Settlement: Refund price difference. All work was not done.

Regards,

Review: I purchased a used dump truck for $98,000 from Atkinson Truck Sales. I test drove the truck unloaded and it seemed to run well. I mentioned to the salesman that there was a noise from the drive train or transmission and he assured me that it was consistent with Alison transmissions. I proceeded with the purchase and brought the truck back home to [redacted]. I used the truck for the first time with a load of dirt in the body and heard a sound that did not sound right. After I dumped the load, I immediately brought the truck to my mechanic who examined it. He determined that the transmission cooler was leaking antifreeze into the transmission. I called Atkinson Truck Sales and spoke with the salesman, [redacted], and told him about the problem with the truck. He told me he will speak with his boss, [redacted], to see what they will do about the problem. They spoke with my mechanic and they felt he was not qualified to work on the truck. Atkinson said they would not authorize any work done by my mechanic. They told me I needed to bring the truck to an Alison dealer to diagnose the problem with the truck. I paid $500 to have the truck towed to the Alison dealership. The Alison dealership mechanic agreed with my mechanic that the transmission cooler was leaking antifreeze into the transmission. The Alison mechanic called Atkinson Truck Sales with the details and cost to repair the truck, $6,553.00. I was led to believe that if I brought the truck to their approved mechanic that Atkinson would pay for the repairs and towing costs. Once they heard how much it would cost to repair the truck, they refused to pay and cut off all communication with me.Desired Settlement: I would like Atkinson to pay for the repairs and reimburse me for towing expenses.

Business

Response:

Mr. [redacted] states that the consumer was refunded $1,500 and signed off that the matter was resolved.
