Atlantic Auto Services Reviews (1)

Review: To whom it may concern,My name is [redacted], I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and have been a nursing student since I received my Honorable Discharge in 2012. I'm writing to you to report a local auto body shop here in Groton Connecticut. In 2012 I purchased a used Altima from [redacted] auto in [redacted] for over $11,000. After only a couple of weeks of owning the car, it began to have problems and I came to find out that it was totaled in 2008 and they rebuilt the body and chose to never disclose this to me. After two years of battling in court and paying thousands of dollars in lawyer fees, the judge ruled in favor of the car dealership. I had to replace the engine for $4000 because it completely died after owning the car for only one year. The owner of the repair shop, Atlantic Auto Body in groton ct, [redacted] performed the repairs. After two weeks of not having any form of transportation and spending hundreds to rent a car, I finally got my car back. Not even having left the parking lot of Atlantic Auto body I immediately encountered a serious problem. The car would not shift into gear and I couldn't even go in reverse. Prior to bringing my vehicle to this mechanic I had absolutely no problems with my transmission. When I asked [redacted] about this newly developed problem, he denied any wrong doing, but had promptly agreed that he would pay for any necessary repairs should it be proven this damage was his fault. I then brought my vehicle to a transmission specialist in [redacted]) and again lost my vehicle for 3 weeks. They confirmed without a doubt it was the fault of Atlantic Auto body's previous work when replacing my engine. They explained that in order to replace a motor you have to remove the transmission entirely. When they looked at the transmission they could tell the damage was recent and the connector plugs we're not reassembled correctly and the wiring harness was spliced completely through and was scarcely held together with electrical tape. This was not only poorly put back together but I was also told it was an extreme danger to myself and others, and was lucky that it had not resulted in a car accident or worse. The manager of [redacted] spoke to [redacted] of Atlantic Auto Body personally and explained the dangers and errors of his "repairs." He denied any wring doing even when presented with irrefutable evidence pointing to his work. I am now looking to pursue this matter legally and the manager of [redacted] Transmission has said she would be more than willing to testify on her years of experience before a judge that [redacted] is responsible for this damages. However, the justice system has failed me before and I would like you to shed some light on these types of practices by this shop so justice does not elude me again. All I want is my transmission to be fixed and for him to stop lying because this is absolutely his fault and I will not let him do this to anyone else, especially another veteran. I proudly served my country with honor and am only seeking for this establishment to do the honorable thing themselves and right what they have undeniably wronged.Desired Settlement: I want my money back and for him to pay for the repairs or replacement of my transmission
