You don't want a disreputable business like this continuing to do business in the way they do without educating them in the long-term consequences of their actionsIf they continue to treat customers like myself like this, their short-term gains may be greater but ultimately the word spreads and their business starts to fail Trust me, I don't like to complain, however, when someone takes advantage of me, I'll stand up for my rights What Mr [redacted] failed to mention was that I complained about the start of the problem with the motor long before the end of the warranty I called him from my boat in summer when it was under warranty to notify him of the issue He showed you an invoice with a date after the warranty as this is when I received my motor back The date on the invoice had nothing to do with the date that I first complained about it He told me at that time he would honor the promised warranty of days from purchase. He mentions hardworking business people, but he fails to acknowledge the hardworking people who spend their hardworking dollars on his items and are taken advantage of The following is a complaint on [redacted] by another customer and I quote: "These guys are real hit-or-miss and not very consistent (particularly if you catch their owner [redacted] on a bad day)In my opinion, Atlantic Boat Repairs is THE junk dealer of boat motorsIf you are interested in an old scrap motor that was repaired to run (at least for the short term) than they are your shopThey call this process "remanufacturing outboards", but based on my experience with them, this is, at best, an optimistic termIt's more like planned obsolescence - 1) take a trash motor, 2) recondition it to the point that it runs, 3) wait for it to break, 4) repeatThe simple fact is that if you want a reliable motor that won't leave you stranded at sea, by all means steer clear of themThere's an old nautical saying, "Always have more boat under you than you think you'll need." [*** *** will say anything to avoid the facts It's simply rhetoric, once again he has no interest in treating his customers honestly nor does he care about long term relationship building I called him in the middle of my day warranty directly from my boat on my cell phone complaining about a semi-frozen throttle cable that was getting worse and he stated he would correct it In my previous comments, I included a review on *** from another customer of ***'s who was treated the same way This other customer had the very same experience I had He sells used items that are over priced and last a short time Then when you come back to him to have the issue corrected, he gets upset He is a very temperamental guy He hasn't learned the importance of customer service I personally have service many individuals and companies in the financial and telecommunications business and I make sure to service my clients first for their sake and second for building relationships for the long term While I was speaking with him in a civil manner, he lost control I've been a member of the *** community for years Even though *** has grown over the years, it still has a small town feeling to it and people talk and recommend small businesses to their friends here, its word of mouth If he continues to treat people like he has treated me and others, his hardworking employees will lose their jobs Please teach this man the error of his ways! Thank you. ]

I am writing you in response to complaint #[redacted]. This customer bought a used engine from us on 7/8/2014 see invoice #[redacted] it had a 90 day warranty covering parts and labor so warranty expired on 10/8/2014 . He brought the engine in for repair on 11/7/2014 approximately 30 days after the warranty...

expired. We replaced the broken throttle cable and charged him for the part about $90.00 and did NOT charge for labor 2.5 hours $282.00 see note on invoice #[redacted]. He then picked up the engine without complaint. This spring he did his own engine prep work to the motor and discovered it wasn't pumping water. He called me and asked if we could look at it. I had my staff do so even pushing him up on the schedule because he bought an engine from us. Our technician worked on the engine and determined that the cause was the motor was never winterized and the cooling passages where clogged with salt. I asked the customer and he admitted he didn't winterize the engine he " just put it away". The customer then informed me he didn't have any money to repair and I owed him because of throttle cable repair (I still don't get that logic). He demanded I repair the engine and allow him to pay later. I refused as this is not our policy. He then became abusive calling me a bully and a gorilla. He threatened me saying he was going to make me sorry I didn't repair the engine for free. We reassembled the engine for free and gave it back to him, I have been in the marine business since 1975 I value my reputation and if there was any possibility that we made an error I would stand behind it. This is just a case of a dishonest guy using any public forums to cheat legitimate hard working business people.[redacted]President Atlantic Boat Rental & Repair inc

Dear SirI am responding to your letter dated 8/21/2015.1. I never spoke to him about the throttle cable prior to him coming in. We did replace the motors throttle cable under our policy of (near warranty) this policy is simple we provide all the labor for free and the customer pays for the parts if within 30 days of warranty expiration. Most companies won't do any thing like that once the warranty expires that is it no warranty of any type is allowed.2. He didn't complain about the throttle cable repair last fall if he had a legitimate complaint I am sure I would have heard about it lending more credence to my position. 3. None of the above has anything to do with the problem he is now. He brought the engine in this spring about about 7 months after his warranty expired. Further more it would not be covered even if reported within the warranty period because he failed to maintain the engine properly by his own admission. He never flushed or winterized it salt water sat in the engine all winter and clogged cooling passages.4. It is our policy to have all repairs paid in full prior to releasing any boat/ engine. I am in no way obligated to provide credit to any customer because they can't afford the repair cost. 5. I offered to repair the motor at our normal fees I moved him up on the schedule so he didn't have to wait three weeks, I had my staff disassemble inspect estimate and reassemble the engine after he told me he could afford it all at no cost. I am not going to repair this engine for free nor should I the customer has to bear his responsibility to maintain the engine properly and in this case he didn'tI have been in business for over 3 decades doing approximately 400 repair jobs per year and and during this entire time I time have only had 2 or 3 complaints that should speak for itself.
