Atlantic Coast Auto, Inc. Reviews (2)

What a great company. I recently had my car shipped from ** to [redacted], in the midst of the "Blizzard of 2015". The car arrived in [redacted] on time, washed, and without any damage. Can't ask for more than that!

Review: I had my vehicle transported from NY to Fl and was told it would arrive on or before my arrival to Fl to pick it up. It was not there when I went to pick it up. I called the delivery company from the drop off location and spoke with the owner, [redacted] who was at the NY office. He told me his driver, [redacted], left late due to a court appearance he had to make on the Monday before and got a late start first of all. Then [redacted] told me how [redacted] had to take the long way around his route to avoid all "statewide trucking weigh stations" because his transport was 4,000 pounds overweight. When I said that wasn't my problem and that I thought they were a legitimate business he ([redacted]) accused me of probably overloading my vehicle with excess cargo, thus causing his driver to avoid the weigh stations. He hung up on me. When I did receive my car, there was damage done to it and I spoke with [redacted] again, and he told me to explain how I thought his company could have caused such damage? When I did explain how his employee checked off any pre- existing damage before taking possession of my car on their check off form and the added damage being checked off by the receiving company of the car he told me no judge in any court would side with me. He was not willing to handle this and take any responsibility. I was assured of full insurance on my car at the time of this whole transaction and was also assured that they were reliable and in compliance with being a legitimate and lawful business.Desired Settlement: Refund. Would like others to think twice about doing business with a person running a company who will not listen to or take responsibility for customer care and liability when it is necessary. Thank you, [redacted].

Response:

We are taking responsibility for being "late" due to circumstances of driver having to be at court on Monday our truck left two days late. The truck was "overloaded" due to customers "packing" their cars with luggage. I referrenced [redacted]'s car as being overloaded and I should have reviewed her condition report before making that statement, she did not overload her car but 7 customers out of 9 were in fact overloaded. DAMAGE concers, after carefully reviewing pictures that were emailed to us. There is a sctratch to her back window tinting. There is no reason for us to go into the back seat of her car. We didnt markit down on our condition report because we didnt see it from the "outside" of car, it is not noticeable unless you are in the "Backseat" of the the car. The other claim is "paint Chipping". Paint chipping happens two ways, First, it could happen if the car has been scratched or dented initially, then paint chip occurs. Second, age and normal wear and tear. The car is 2005 model, car is in "fine" condition for its age. However where the paint chips are located are directly behind the wheels on the mud flaps and are expossed to all road hazzards, Which also can cause paint chipping. The pictures reveal "normal paint chipping" this is not considered "damage" due to car transport.

We would like to extend our appologies for the delay of the car and would consider discounting a future transport.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

You have done nothing to prove that "Atlantic Coast Transport Inc." did not cause damages to my car during your possession of my vehicle. I have documentation that says otherwise. You are correct in saying there is no reason to be in the back of my car. But, in fact, after dropping my car off to your business, someone was indeed in the back of my vehicle. That is how the tint on both back windows were scratched. As I explained to you, [redacted] "Atlantic Coast Transport") before, there was a wind guard folded in the downward position and seated in its brackets just above the rear seats. I had a large(28"lx18"w) sized box on the back seat just under the wind guard that held some nautical maps and pictures inside the box. Upon delivery of my vehicle to the end destination and before I Opened the doors, I could see that the wind guard had been folded open into the upright position and commented to [redacted](the woman who received my car from your driver at the drop off site)on this. She was asking me what a wind guard was and that is when we both noticed the tint was scratched. She made notations on this as I walked to the other side of the car and saw the tint scratched on that side as well. [redacted] started to take pictures of these as I opened the car to inspect the inside. [redacted] also pointed out to me the rubbed back bumper and missing paint on mud flaps and notated them on her report(which I have a copy of) and took pictures as well. The only way those scratches on the tint could occur(if you line up the marks made with the wind guard itself) is by trying to lift the wind guard out of its brackets without first opening the back windows first, pinching the bracket locks inward and lifting the wind guard. There is not enough room for the wind guard to pass the windows without touching them unless you know this and tip the wind guard to avoid coming in contact with the rear passenger windows. I can only assume that when your driver, [redacted], was at the first weigh station during his transport of my car and was told he was overweight, he started to go through the transported vehicles looking for the cause of the discrepancy and tried to see what was in the box in the back seat of my vehicle. I was not there and cannot say for sure what occurred but I do know that you were responsible for my car once I dropped it off to your place of business and those scratches did not exist before that time. It is also the responsibility of your employees to go over each vehicle being transported by you, to notate any existing damage. [redacted](your employee) went over my car and opened the doors and scanned the interior as well as exterior and said she could not believe how clean the car was! She also apologized as to the small notation she did have to make on her diagram of small scratches to the car on the front bumper. I told her mark whatever she sees, its her job. All of this is documented and signed off on both ends of the transport including the noticeable new damage, which is marked on [redacted]'s "Bill of Laden". The age of the vehicle is irrelevant. This car may be a 2005, but it has always been garaged, never seen rain on it for that matter(except for the day I dropped it off to you) and had no more than 15,000 miles on it! That is why the car was in Excellent Condition! You vaguely make an attempt to "consider discounting a future transport", which, frankly speaking, would you "consider" (yourself) such an offer after having gone through what I have so far? When I asked you to discount me on the day you were supposed to have had the car at the original drop off site(August [redacted], 2013) because of your lateness in the delivery of the vehicle, you accused me of probably causing the "weight" problem and, hence, delay, and rudely hung up saying you would not give me a discount, it was not your problem! I thank you, but no, I would not use your service again and the offer is not worth the damage. One other thing I would like to add. I took pictures of my car on the morning of my drop off to you (for my own protection) and I can show photos of no damage to tint clearly on at least one side.

Respectfully, [redacted].

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Ok, I will work on that. It may take some time to get an estimate due to the fact that the car is in Florida and I am not. I will have to get New York based estimates using the existing pictures of damage. I dont know if the Auto shops around this area are allowed to give such estimates without the car physically being here for them to inspect. I did speak with the Auto shop that did the original tinting on the vehicle and they asked me to come in with the pictures so we will see. I cannot make it out there till the beginning of next week. I will be in touch with you after I have been there and one other place for a comp. estimate. Does that work for you?
