contractor came to our house, we signed a contract with him, they started the job and took money and never finished.the first contract was signed 6/24/16 that they were going to tear out one slab of our driveway by the road and repair it. we then agreed to do a second slab while we were at it. the agreement was that we pay$500 down payment another $2000 when they came to start the job and the rest when the job was completed. [redacted] came to our house on 6/30/16 to start to tear out the two slabs of our driveway. that was when he asked for the $2000 and said that it MUST be in cash as he needed it that day to pay a few people for the job. We got the money and gave it to him and he never wrote a receipt for that money or a second contract for the second slab that he partially tore up. After that day we never saw him again until August 25th. [redacted] had told us that he was going to show up the following day, early on so that he had the whole day to work and would get the job finished on that Friday. His helper or sub contractor [redacted] showed up Friday morning about 8am and came and spoke with us to see if we had heard anything from [redacted] or knew what was going on. We told him that all we knew was he said he was showing up and the job was going to be completed that day. [redacted] tried to get a hold of him several time by text and by calling and never got a response. We also tried calling and never got a hold of him or heard back from him until after the 4th of July. When he texted then he claimed that the holiday is was messed everything up. During that time we had texted him and called him many times asking him to write up the second contract for that slab and for a receipt for the money and he would say he will do it but I have yet to see either and its Sept 1,2016. [redacted] told us July 24th that he would get it finished that we and we never saw him and nothing was ever done. He again told us Aug 19,2016 that he would be getting concrete Monday and that he apologized for the delay. Every single time we contact him asking what the deal is and how much longer its going to be he always says how busy he is but will get to it soon, or he gets irate with me and overruns me when I talk or always says oh well I did the same thing for someone else for this price or that and you should be happy that its not coasting you that much but we will get it done and don't worry about the price we will work it out. so far to date we have paid [redacted] $2500 and the only thing that has been done is that he came over for a part day ( worked maybe 4-5 hours) and got part of two slabs out. There is still two halves of two slabs that have to be removed and all of the concrete has to be taken to the dump. He has some of it just sitting in our cul-de-sac still. Desired SettlementIt would be nice to get our money back since he has not completed the job yet and for him to pay the difference of what it would be for us to go with a different contractor and have them complete the job as he should have.
