When I found out that there had been no biography of Florida's hero, Dr. John G, in print, since 1982, I had to do something about it! Why? His statue represents Florida in the US Capitol Statuary Hall, and he patented the first ice machine and the first mechanical air conditioning system! I stood over Dr. G's grave and promised I would not let HIM down. The UF College of Medicine, the Florida State Park Service, and multiple media specialists encouraged me to pursue the project.

I wrote the biography and submitted to dozens of literary agents, who couldn't "see" what I could see; literary agents seem to be the purveyors of misery and suffering. This project was important to Florida! I had almost given up on publishing when I got a call from Atlantic Publishing Group.

While my experience in publishing was ZERO, the professionals at Atlantic Publishing Group made me confident and comfortable from the very start. APG takes care of their authors! Meaghan was my project manager and I have nothing but praise for her--where I was weak, she was strong! Upon release of HE MADE ICE AND CHANGED THE WORLD: THE STORY OF FLORIDA'S JOHN G, marketing expert Jessie worked with me to ensure my success. The owner of APG, Doug Brown, can be proud of every member of the APG team! Each and every telephone call, email, or message is immediately responded to! Their customer service is beyond the best. I strongly recommend them to any author.

The next time I stood over Dr. G's grave, I said something different; "I hope this biography makes you proud, Dr. G. I did my best." Somehow, I think he may have heard me. As I walked away, I added, "I think you'd like it!" (Dr. G would be giving Atlantic Publishing Group a "HIGH-5!")

The team at Atlantic has helped me to fulfill a lifelong dream of creating a beautiful professional children's book I'm so proud of. They were efficient and accommodating, delivering exactly the look and feel I was going for. They processed my work quickly and kept me in the loop the entire journey. They also included my book in blog posts, ads, and conferences above and beyond anything my contract required of them. I always felt that this was my project and they were there to help me make it the best it could be. I'm quite pleased with Atlantic Publishing, Inc.

I can't begin to express the level of gratitude that I have towards Doug and Atlantic Publishing Group. As a new author thrust into a world that is completely foreign to me having Doug and his staff's guidance has been truly a blessing. In hindsight writing the book was the easy part, trying to navigate how best to promote the book is the nightmare!! Doug's program for new authors is comprehensive, well though out, aggressive, and exactly what I need to achieve the level of success that I hope to with my new series.

Lisa,

Working with you on "Kawallawallapoopoo" has been an absolute joy. The entire staff loves Maynard, Jake, and their manatee friends! We are happy to hear that you found our Professional Publishing and Marketing Program a great resource for new authors, as that is what we strive for!

I chose Atlantic Publishing Group to publish my first book and I intend to choose them again for future book publishings. I had a pleasant experience with them, as a first-time author. They were professional, attentive, respectful, helpful with suggestions, and considerate in the process. I recommend Atlantic Publishing without hesitation.

Dr. I, helping you publish "Authentic Self-Love" was a great experience for everyone here at Atlantic as well. Thank you for your kind words and recommendation!

I have worked with Atlantic to publish my first book and have been very happy with the results! Everyone on the team has been extremely considerate of my concerns as an author and I have been treated with the utmost respect on every level of the process. I would recommend this publishing company to anyone, especially those who know little about publishing but desire to work with a company they can trust.

Hello Ms. B, thank you for your review. We're so pleased that you were happy with your experience with us, and we look forward to your book's success!

I have had other publishing companies but I truly believe I have finally found the best one out there. Their professionalism doesn't end with your agreement it starts there and I couldn't be happier with Atlantic Publishing.
If you need your manuscript published I would recommend them highly!

Ms. G, thank you so much for your review. We very much appreciate your kind words and look forward to the success of your book!

I first contacted Atlantic Publishing in April of 2018 with a children's book idea. I only had half of it so I decided to wait. In February of 2019, I had a completed story and again contacted AP. We are weeks away from a paperback release. I can't say enough how wonderfully they made my story and the pictures into an awesome children's book. My input has been respected from editing the story to placement of the pictures to how the front and back cover design looks. I couldn't be more happy with their work.

Ms. R, we're so glad your experience was so positive. It has been a pleasure working with you, and we hope you consider us again in the future!

I published with Atlantic and had nothing but positive experiences with the company. The staff has always been helpful and have often recommended venues for my work. I would highly recommend this company to any individual interested in publishing. In fact, I felt like the company took personal ownership in my work. I believe Atlantic has no problem promoting works they feel will bring in an audience.

Ms. C, thank you so much for your kind words. It was a pleasure for us to work with you on and publish "Finding True Love After 40."

I wrote the book AL - the Israeli Prometheus and without knowing the publisher, I took a chance on having the book published through them. I found them on the internet. It was a very lucky choice. It was a positive experience at every level. They were professional, patient with me, very helpful with their suggestions, flexible with my ideas. If I write another book, I won't even go looking for another publisher.

Atlantic Publishing Group Response • May 01, 2019

Varda, it was a pleasure for us to work on "AL, the Israeli Prometheus" with you. Thank you for giving us the privilege to publish a book about this brave man!

I signed last year with Atlantic Publishing Group and I want to thank everyone at this company, especially Jack B and Katie C, who have skillfully guided me through the complexity of book publishing and marketing. Their patience and expertise in editing has put my book on a much higher level than I could have ever imagined. I couldn't ask for a better team to manage my book.

Hello Mr. H,

Thank you for your kind words. It was an absolute pleasure working with you on your book! We wish you every success with "Sin City Retribution: Stolen Steel" and look forward to working with you in the future!

The publisher has not supplied me with the complete accounting of the sales information and the book was still on *** afte contract terminated.
I am the agent for ***. We signed a contract with Atlantic Publishing Group dated 3/29/18. While the book was being written and edited She was treated very unprofessionally by members of the company. She was ridiculed and demeaned by one of their employees in particular.
1) Before the book was released there were endorsements left out and changes to be made. *** emailed the publisher on 11/20/2018 before we signed the release to include the changes and the reviews. We received an email on 11/27/18 stating that everything *** asked to be changed was done. She also emailed them on 11/29/18 reminding them of the changes. The book was available for sale on 12/31/18 in ***. When the book was released we contacted the publisher asking why the revisions were not done. Their answer was that we signed the release and it was our fault. I asked for a refund but was told that I would not get one and then was told that they will have no further conversation about it. This is a horrible and deceitful way to treat customers. It was the publishers fault not ours.
2)The contract stipulates that we were to get a sales report and royalty check monthly. Starting in late January. I continually asked for a report but was given many reasons why I did not get it. I was told there was a problem with their computer system or the report was emailed. I finally received one on 2/14. It was done on an excel spreadsheet however it was incorrect. Again I called many times to get the corrected version but to no avail. We finally received a report and royalty check near the end of March. The report and royalties were only for March.
3)After we terminated the contract around March 12,2109 the book was still available on ***. I contacted the publisher many times that it should be removed and they blamed ***. This situation went on for about a month. I wrote ***'s legal department about copyright infringement and finally it was taken down around 4/18/2019. The publisher was making money off the sale of a book when the contract was terminated. Totally inappropriate and unlawful.

emails:

Revdex.com has redacted the included emails

Desired Outcome

I am asking for a monthly reports from January till April of this year and any other sales following from the publisher that was sent to them by ***. I would also am asking for a refund on my fees since the contract was violated and the published book was not what the author was promised. another email I was not able to put above. ***Revdex.com has redacted the email included

Atlantic Publishing Group Response • Apr 26, 2019

Mr. and Ms. have conveniently left out of their complaint the reason that Atlantic Publishing Group terminated their contract with the concerned parties: Ms. breached the terms of the contract by selling copies of the "e-book" through her Twitter account beginning on March 2, 2019 (she was actually selling unprotected version of a PDF) and giving away copies for free, even encouraging all recipients to "make sure and spread the word by sending the PDF around to anyone you know who will need it" (tweet dated March 9, 2019).

Ms. was effectively pirating her own work and infringing on Atlantic Publishing Group's exclusive rights to sell and distribute the work. In effect, she was stealing from Atlantic Publishing Group. The termination of the contract has left both Ms. and Mr. bitter and resentful, feelings that have led to the unfair complaint filed against Atlantic Publishing Group.

Before the publication of the work, a member of Atlantic Publishing Group's staff sent both Ms. and Mr. finalized versions of both of the interior and the cover for their review, along with a print approval form, on November 20, 2018. Both individuals signed and returned the form separately on November 27, 2018, agreeing that they had "reviewed the final PDF of the interior, cover, spine, and back cover and it is approved for final printing."

On January 10, 2019, it was brought to a staff member's attention that the reviews mentioned by Mr. were not included in the printed copy. While their contract stipulated that no refunds would be offered under any circumstances, staff assured Ms. and Mr. on multiple occasions that the reviews would be included in future printings of the work. There was not a reprint of the work prior to the termination of the contract, but the e-book files were updated to include the reviews and uploaded to all distributors immediately.

Royalty checks are issued on a monthly basis beginning 90 days after publication to allow for sales to build up, to accommodate for returns -- as any returns that come from a royalty check that has already been issued would have to be taken from the subsequent month's royalties -- and to allow for all distributors to report their sales, which can take up to 90 days. This was explained to Ms. and Mr. numerous times by multiple members of Atlantic Publishing Group staff.

After the contract was terminated on March 13, 2019, Atlantic Publishing Group immediately pulled the work from all of its distributors, including ***. The e-book was immediately removed from *** and the paperback marked as unavailable, but a member of the staff went back and forth with *** to get the paperback placed Out of Print. On April 3, 2019, the staff member received a message from *** explaining that the book can only be placed Out of Print after their inventory reads that there are 0 units in stock; at the time, there were still 18. Another member of the Atlantic Publishing Group staff worked with *** to get all remaining stock returned, but any delay was on the part of ***, not the publisher.

What Mr. and Ms. fail to realize is that any book purchased by *** is theirs to sell as they wish, just as third-party sellers are free to sell books that they purchase on *** and other sites. Members of the Atlantic Publishing Group staff explained this to both parties on numerous occasions but to no avail.

All royalties from December 31, 2018 (the publication date) to the termination of the contract have been sent to the author. Both Ms. and Mr. were sent checks on March 13, 2019 and April 5, 2019 that covered all of their royalties to date. They will continue to receive monthly royalty checks until all of Atlantic Publishing Group's distributors have sent their sales reports, which can be delayed up to 90 days.

While members of the Atlantic Publishing Group staff tried to remain professional with both Ms. and Mr., Ms. in particular would call the office and scream at the editors and verbally insult their abilities and their person, even prior to the contract violations mentioned above and the subsequent termination of the contract. Despite the actions of Ms., the staff felt obligated to Ms. as a client to continue the professional relationship.

It is unfortunate that Ms. violated the terms of her contract and forced Atlantic Publishing Group's hand in the termination of their professional relationship and their contract. The work had the potential to help a great many people in need. However, Atlantic Publishing Group cannot abide authors pirating their own work and effectively stealing from Atlantic Publishing Group, nor the disrespectful and abusive tactics employed by Ms. toward Atlantic Publishing Group's staff.

I came to them to publish a book. They violated their own contract on several regards. They treated me horribly and I ended up breaking the contract with this company and I have never been happier. They were an absolute nightmare to deal with from beginning to end. In fact in the end they got even more vicious. I would never recommend this company

Hello Ms. S,

We're sorry to hear that your experience with Atlantic Publishing was unpleasant. During the publishing process of your book, we strived to accommodate your wishes, but often felt at odds when we needed to compromise on some that might have hindered the marketability of your work. As a partnership publisher, we of course want your book to meet your expectations, but must also take into consideration what readers will want to read and what will best aid in the sale of your book.

Our editing and production team were polite and patient, always hoping to be cooperative and professional, but felt that you did not offer the same courtesies. Our parting of ways was regrettable, but as we discussed privately, you violated the terms of your contract on multiple occasions, putting your book's success at risk. This is why we unfortunately had to terminate our professional relationship and your contract.

We wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors and hope for your continued success.

Regards,
The Atlantic Publishing Group Team
