Good Morning: My name is [redacted] and my dog Pricilla (aka [redacted] ) was recently seen by Seaport Veterinary Hospital (Eastern Ave, Gloucester, MA 01930) for an infection in her ear flaps Cilla gets chronic ear infections and Seaport in the past had suggested that I put her ears up in a scrunchie to allow air into the eardrumI have done this in the past with no ill effect However in this case she shook her ears which caused hematomas accordingly to Seaport When I first took Cilla in her ears were very, very thick and very hard - like bricks This happened on a Sunday and she was in the vet the next morning DrL [redacted] who was the vet to see Cilla prescribed a steroid and laser therapy, the first therapy was given that day and then several more that week I continually called because not only were her ears not getting better she was urinating continuously even when laying down and sleeping Many techs saw her and supposedly communicated my concerns (I also emailed and recorded calls with staff/vets when things started getting so bad) DrL [redacted] had said to call if things didn’t get better and I continued to call and email On Saturday I brought Cilla in again and DrL [redacted] was all of a sudden quite concerned and showed me darkened areas under the fur on her ears and asked to shave her ears so that they could see the full extent of the damage Once this was done it was found that blood was breaking through to the surface of the ears DrL [redacted] then prescribed an antibiotic (five days after her first visit) and said that she would have to have the TIPS of her ears cut off but that we should wait until the cells “declared” themselves She also prescribed a medicine that I had to pick up at Walgreens which she said may help and that at this point - she wanted to throw everything but the kitchen sink at this…her exact words - after my poor dog was given nothing but a steroid for a full week Her ears too - since they were bleeding through burnt because of the heat therapy - but no one said ANYTHING - the techs didn’t seem to notice and I didn’t know better and trusted the vet They just assumed it was because she was sore but there were actual holes in her earflapsAfter seeing DrL [redacted] that Saturday, I immediately brought her to Mass Woburn Veterinarian Hospital Before I even had a chance to explain in full, they asked what antibiotic Cilla was on - I said that they had just given her one and that they had said to start it that night with food They were appalled that Cilla was not given an antibiotic at the onset and increased what they had given her In the end, it was too late and the laser therapy had done too much damage - actually caused burnt holes in her earsI have since disputed the charges on my credit cards relating to this incident but that won’t help others who trust this practice This practice seems to be able to handle routine issues but as I have learned the hard way, they are far too busy to take the time necessary to follon urgent care issuesTo make matters even worse, Seaport Veterinary Hospital refused to see Cilla after they took out her stitches (via email and then subsequently cancelled my account) Initially she was doing well but come to find out, they left a long strand of stitches in one ear and a couple in the other which now requires further treatment as the skin has grown over them and I am afraid to hurt her by attempting to take them out myself They cancelled my account and have not responded to my complaint of the stitches left in and Cilla is once again, uncomfortable and itching - it is swollen at the ear tip What kind of vet does not care for a dog in pain? They even refused to give my other dog the prescription food that was specifically ordered for herThis is the same vet in the past who used to give much more personal attention to my dogs but the one time that I truly needed them to take great care, they failed to - continuously - which has altered the life of my dog and caused her considerable pain Mass Veterinarian Hospital also diagnosed a heart murmur which DrC [redacted] and DrL [redacted] denied Cilla is NOT the same dog that she was - in fact, almost the polar opposite! She exercises far less and sleeps far more - very lethargicI have all the records from both Seaport and Mass Woburn as well as all the emails and a few recorded voicemails should you need further validation of the subpar services provided to my little girlSincerely, [redacted]
