Atlantic Terrace Motel

Review: I gave a credit card to have a deposit held for my stay in August, 2013. My credit card was card for 1/2 the stay on June **, 2013, a month prior to my actual stay and I was incurring interest charges on this charge before I even stay at the motel. (A deposit is a hold on a credit card not a charge, in the event that the reservation is cancelled. Which the motel informed me that I could cancel up to 3 days in advance and only incur a $25 charge)

On arrival I wanted to pay for my stay with a debit card and have the deposit removed from my card (at this time I was aware of the charges as my credit card company was already asking for a payment and I hadn't even stayed at the motel yet). They told me their credit machine was not working at that time and that it would be fixed upon departure.

When we were checking out, we were assured by the front desk clerk that all the charges were placed on the debit card and removed from the original deposit card. In Sept. 2013 I received my credit card statement with late fees as they never removed the deposit from my card.Desired Settlement: I would like this removed from my card and applied to the second card.

I apologize for this credit card mix-up. At the time of booking it is explained that the credit card will be charged a 50% deposit which is applied to the bill upon check-in. The date of [redacted]'s arrival, we were experiencing trouble with our credit card system and it seems the message of switching the deposit from her credit card to debit card were not clearly communicated between front desk employees at check-in and check-out. [redacted] called to explain this mishap a few days ago and was not willing to allow me to explain what happened. I told her I could refund her credit card and charge her debit card, as requested, but she hung up without allowing me the chance to correct the problem. I am still willing and able to make this correction if [redacted] would like to contact me by phone again. I will need the original credit card number in order to return the funds - at that point I can place the charges on her debit card.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is only satisfactory to the hotel that charged me one month before I even get any services from them. The matter is resolved, however, after 20+ years, I will no longer stay or recommend Atlantic Terrace.
