Atlantis Concrete & Construction LLC strives to continually produce high quality hardscapesThe warranty with this customer covered the quality of products used and the installation of those productsIt does not cover salt damage, lawn mower chips, gasoline stains, grease stains or sealer failure A conversation with the homeowner about the warranty coverage lead to the customer also hiring Atlantis Concrete to apply a 5-year penetrating salt guard sealer to the front apron of his drivewayThis was not used on the damaged area in question because it can only be applied to cured concreteThis would have pushed the patio finish date back days The customer and I had a lengthy conversation on sealer types and how the decorative acrylic sealer on his stamped patio was not a penetrating sealer and did not offer the same salt protection as the sealer applied to the apronWhen accessing the damages to the concrete it was obvious that salt damage was the main factorThe spalling is most prevalent next to the door mat on the top step with less damage fanning out fiom there on the stepsAll damage is limited to the steps with the patio being undamagedThe door mat acted as a shield protecting the area underneath A field test was performed showing high levels of chlorides concluding the homeowner had applied a deicing saltSalt causes the pours in the concrete to retain more water than normalDeicing salts will still freeze below degree Fahrenheit and cause the most damage when temperatures fluctuate between and degrees creating many freeze / thaw cycles per dayThis occurred days in January aloneThese factors along with the acidic corrosive nature of salt, is why it's damage is not covered by our company The customer was notified that repairs were to be performed along with another job scheduled in their neighborhoodThey had not sent pictures as stated and are not forthcoming about the use of deicing saltsAt the end of May 2014, Atlantis Concrete was scheduling months out and could not expedite non-warranty repair workAlthough the salt damage to the customers steps are not covered by the warranty, Atlantis values all past customers, takes pride in its work and is repairing the damage free of charge

As stated by the customer, the bid was given on 7/1/I had installed a stamped concrete patio for her neighbors over years ago and came highly recommendedThe customer wanted something decorative but didn't want to pay the price of stamped concreteShe asked if I could add color to the concreteI gave her a color chart and explained to her that the examples are approximate and representative of the finished colorThe color chart was for an integral liquid color that the concrete supplier adds at the batch plantAs I measured the patio area I explained the many factors that affect the color including; cement, sand, stone, temperature, humidity, finishing techniques and othersAn example, the colors react differently depending on the type of cementMy concrete supplier purchases their cement from three different suppliers depending on priceEach will have a slightly different lookLimestone, a main ingredient in concrete can very greatly in colorStone purchased from a quarry in Delaware is a beige color while limestone from the south side of Columbus is very light gray, almost whiteI explained that the concrete color could vary as much as the gray varies in standard concrete and had her read the disclaimer on the color chartThe customer sat on the steps with her back to her house and picked Spring BeigeShe said she was ready to have us do the work any time but wanted to have the A/C removed before we pouredShe asked for a start date which I quoted 2-weeks.Two weeks later I contacted the customer informing her that we were going to start and I verified her color choiceShe confirmed spring beigeThe area was over square feet, in the back yard and with the steep gradeIt needed a lot of sub-grade and grading workThis was mid-July and I wanted to get the area prepared for the pour before she had her A/C removedThis way I could limit their A/C downtimeWednesday we prepared the sub-grade with ton of crushed limestoneWe put down plywood from the street to the back yard creating very little yard damageThe customer notified me that the A/C was to be removed Thursday morning so I scheduled the concrete to be poured Thursday mid-dayConcrete trucks arrived, load tickets were checked, spring beige had been added at the batch plantThe concrete pour went greatIts quality meets or exceeds industry standards on all levelsIt was prepared, placed and finished with integrity and has no quality issuesFriday consisted of cleaning up and saw cutsThe customer wanted saw cuts every 4' on a degree angleThe saw cuts look greatThe customer was told that their A/C could be reinstalled the following dayWe started Wednesday morning and finished Friday afternoon I met with the customer on Sunday to collect final paymentTo my surprise, they were not happy with the colorThe husband told me that he didn't have a problem with the work except he would have liked a darker colorThe customers pulled out a sample of their siding and put it on the concrete to compare the colorThis was the first time I was aware that the customer was trying to match her siding colorSpring beige is not a perfect match with their much darker, almost brown, mocha sidingThere are 6+ different colors that are darker and would have been a better match for their sidingI agreed that the concrete was slightly lighter than the color chart but definitely in the same familyA large part of this was due to the efflorescence on the surface of the newly poured concreteI suggested two optionsStaining the concrete or trying to go darker with a tinted sealerAn acrylic sealer gets broken down by UV rays and is not permanent where staining is irreversibleI explained that if the concrete was sealed, our options to make changes would be limited until the sealer wears off, which could be a couple of yearsTinting the sealer is also called antiquing or color washThey asked me how much this would costI told them I would do it for the cost of materialsA pail of sealer runs $for five gallons and should be enough for their patioAll parties agreed the patio installation was completed and full payment was receivedThe customers agreed to go ahead with sealing their patio for the cost of materialsAfter applying the sealer, I once again thought the patio looked greatIt had a mottled look similar to what I have put on $600K homesThe sealer pulls colors out that you don't normally see with unsealed concreteI was out of town with my wife and two sons for a long weekend and received multiple calls, texts, emails and even a blurry homemade videoI received the same video via multiple texts and multiple emailsShe said the tinting made the patio look dirty and there was bubbling in the sealerI replied to the customer on Monday that I would address her sealer issues. To apply acrylic concrete sealer the surface has to be clean, dry and under 80-degreesWith the high temperatures of summer, sometimes the sealer will get too hot and bubbleThe sun will warm the surface of the concrete to over degrees before noon on hot summer daysThe bubbles can form hours and even days after the sealer is appliedThe patio did have some bubbles but they were minimal It was again cleaned on Tuesday, rain was in the forecast for Wednesday, and we worked on the sealer in the mornings of both Thursday and Friday making sure the tinting was fully blended and there were no bubblesOnce again the patio looked greatThe customer emailed me saying that the patio looked the sameThe customer was not charged for the sealingAtlantis Concrete and Construction LLC highly values customer satisfactionWe strive to educate and inform customers promoting decisions that they will be happy withUnfortunately, in this situation, the customer was well informed with no availConcrete colors vary greatly and to match a color is nearly impossibleThe customer made her color choice with no communication or indication that she was wanting to match their house sidingAll work was performed in a timely manner and exceeding industry standardAll parties agreed work had been completed and final payment was receivedThe correct color was ordered and added to the trucks at the batch plantAttached is my concrete supplier invoice showing the color used for the customer's patioAtlantis has went above and beyond trying to resolve this issueWe guarantee our work to be to industry standard and that we will use the products proposed to the customerWe do not guarantee the matching of a color or that a customer will like their color choicePictures of this and other patios can be seen at www.atlantisconcrete.com

Since I have contacted you Atlantis Concrete has come to do repair work on the patioAlthou they have completed a repair we still do not agree with their response and the repairIn the response from Atlantis, they state that we were contacted and told we would be getting repairs done with another residence in our areaWe have never had a phone conversation with Atlantis concreteAlso, they stated we never sent pictures of the damageBoth of these are false We sent pictures, We have a screen shot of the text message including the photos sent of the damageI have attached them with this messageIf they would have contacted us, we would have never contacted the Revdex.comThe only information we were told was in the original voice mail that he would come look at it and their response on hereWe will look into phone records to show that we were not contacted if you would like, I believe we can get this information from verizon
He also states it is from salt damage, that the steps were the only place chipping, and that a mat covered a portion so it did not chip thereThe mat only covered the top step, the steps directly in front of the mat have no damage and "salt" would have been thrown in this area as this is where all of the foot traffic would beThe damaged area was next to the door where no one walks, hence no foot traffic or salt would be thrown hereSalt is not what caused this damageThe chipping is starting on the main patio as well, it is just much smaller and hard to seeSalt would have been put on here too
The repairs are complete, but we have a problem with the way they were doneAtlantis never contacted us that they were doing the repairs, we came home from work and they were completeBecause we didn't know about the repairs, we weren't sure of a time frame on when we were able to walk on the patioWe knew the patio was wet from the new sealer, but didn't know a time frame when it was okay for useThis is a terrible way to do business and a complete lack of communication
Last if we were contacted about the repair, we would have gladly said repair the entire patio and put the sealer on everythingWe would have paid for this service with no problem to make it all look the sameNow we have a small area that is nice and shiney / repaired and the rest is dull lookingThis is terrible communication and serviceWe will contact someone else to finish the rest of the patio
I accept the business response because I no longer want to do business with this type of communicationThanks for trying to fix the patio, but we will look else where to have it all done

Atlantis Concrete & Construction LLC strives to continually produce high quality
hardscapes. The warranty with this customer covered the quality of products used and the
installation of those products. It does not cover salt damage, lawn mower chips, gasoline
stains, grease...

stains or sealer failure.
A conversation with the homeowner about the warranty coverage lead to the
customer also hiring Atlantis Concrete to apply a 5-7 year penetrating salt guard sealer to
the front apron of his driveway. This was not used on the damaged area in question
because it can only be applied to cured concrete. This would have pushed the patio finish
date back 28 days.
The customer and I had a lengthy conversation on sealer types and how the
decorative acrylic sealer on his stamped patio was not a penetrating sealer and did not
offer the same salt protection as the sealer applied to the apron. When accessing the
damages to the concrete it was obvious that salt damage was the main factor. The spalling
is most prevalent next to the door mat on the top step with less damage fanning out fiom
there on the steps. All damage is limited to the steps with the patio being undamaged. The
door mat acted as a shield protecting the area underneath.
A field test was performed showing high levels of chlorides concluding the
homeowner had applied a deicing salt. Salt causes the pours in the concrete to retain more
water than normal. Deicing salts will still freeze below 20 degree Fahrenheit and cause
the most damage when temperatures fluctuate between 15 and 25 degrees creating many
freeze / thaw cycles per day. This occurred 29 days in January 2014 alone. These factors
along with the acidic corrosive nature of salt, is why it's damage is not covered by our
company.
The customer was notified that repairs were to be performed along with another
job scheduled in their neighborhood. They had not sent pictures as stated and are not
forthcoming about the use of deicing salts. At the end of May 2014, Atlantis Concrete
was scheduling 2 months out and could not expedite non-warranty repair work. Although
the salt damage to the customers steps are not covered by the warranty, Atlantis values all
past customers, takes pride in its work and is repairing the damage free of charge.

Each will have a slightly different look. Limestone, a main ingredient in concrete can very greatly in color. This was mid-July and I wanted to get the area prepared for the pour before she had her A/C removed. This way I could limit their A/C downtime. Concrete trucks arrived, load tickets were checked, spring beige had been added at the batch plant. The concrete pour went great. Its quality meets or exceeds industry standards on all levels. The saw cuts look great. The customer was told that their A/C could be reinstalled the following day. We started Wednesday morning and finished Friday afternoon.  I met with the customer on Sunday to collect final payment. To my surprise, they were not happy with the color. WOW!!! That information would have been very helpful IF it was given to me from the
beginning. As I stated in my first letter, he did not communicate. I have
received more communication  from Atlantis though the Revdex.com than I did through this
whole process.
He never explained to me or read the disclosure to me at the
bottom of the color chart until after the concrete was poured. When he read it
out loud, it was like he was reading it for the first time. I have attached the color chart he showed me as well as a picture of my patio.
When he came over on Sunday it was to look at the patio.
Nothing was mentioned about payment until he handed me the invoice. We never
agreed that the patio was complete. I did give him the payment, in full because
I trusted him to fix the patio color. Needless to say that was a BIG
mistake. As soon as he seen the patio, we could tell he was surprised by
the color. He new a mistake had been made and a big one at that.
He never talked
to us about the sealer breaking down or that staining was not permanent and
sealer would take years to wear off. He
did state that he wanted us off his plate and that the patio was pink.
I stated in my first letter, he said he would test an area to
ensure it would come out correctly. That was not done. We never talked about it
having an antique or color washed look. Atlantis decided to do what he likes
and thinks look great and gave my patio a color washed look (dirty) and I am
stuck with it!!
How is this customer satisfaction? How is this going above
and beyond? I ordered spring Beige because I wanted a solid color patio and he
knew it.
The bottom line is, I ordered spring beige and did not get
it. I did and still do like my color choice spring beige. He did not say, if
you pick spring beige it will turn out PINK. I do not understand what the point
is of looking at a color chart and picking colors out if what you end up with is
nothing close to what you picked.
As a customer, we strive to work with contractors as well as
hold them to the standards they set for themselves. We expect full communication
and a quality product. I paid for a concrete colored patio in spring beige
with a broom finish and 4 foot cut lines. I got a pink patio with black dirt
marks, a poorly done broom finish and 4 foot cut
lines.  Atlantis concrete says they went above and beyond however
they really went down and around to avoid dealing with their mistakes.
