Saturday April 4th - I contacted Jim Ellis Volkswagen to inquire about a Certified Pre-Owned Volkswagen Beetle convertible with less than 6k miles that was on their lot since mid-January per the CarFax reportI was able to get the information needed and I left my contact information with the salesman since I was purchasing the car from a distanceHe said it would not be problem since they can do everything via FedEx for the paperwork Monday April 6th - I followed up to move forward with purchasing the vehicleI received voicemail when I called back, no big dealI then followed up two more times over the course of the week each time getting voicemail again Saturday, April 11th - I asked for a different salesperson so I could move forward with thingsHe informed me that the prior salesman was on vacation all week, but would be back in on Monday April 13th to help me move forward with this Monday April 13th - I was able to get a hold of the original salesman and clarify the last couple of details I had questions onWe were able to come to terms on a price for the vehicleI was asked to provide a copy of my driver's license and our current proof of auto insuranceEmailed the driver's license right away Tuesday April 14th - I followed up with the insurance card on Tuesday via emailSince we were purchasing the car from a distance, I requested to do a video conference to verify the condition of the exterior since I was comfortable with the manufacturer's warranty (year / 24k miles on top of balance of original warranty) from VWThe salesman had difficulty from his end doing that so he said he would email me a video of the car Wednesday April 15th - I received the video in the afternoonEverything looked great and I asked for the paperwork to be overnighted to me Friday morning April 17th - I had not heard anything back, so I followed up with the salesmanI was able to get a hold of him and he informed me the car was SOLDI asked how they could sell the car when we came to terms on it four days agoHe said he was out on Thursday due to some personal issues and when he came in on Friday he was told the Sales Manager decided to purchase the car for his wife(the same car that had been on the lot for months) I followed up by speaking to the manager of the dealership who then asked me if I had put down a deposit or signed any paperworkI let him know that I had done everything I was asked by the salesman and actually had to keep pushing the salesman along to get this deal doneThe manager said there was nothing he could doI was taken back at this point on how unprofessionally and shady this was handled and let them know they need to fix the problem they createdThey told me they would find another car and call me back within the next couple of daysI gave them the opportunity to correct this It has been over a week and I have not received a phone call or an emailMy wife and I have decided to take our business elsewhere to a different dealership that has been on top of things and more importantly operates their business in an honest and professional mannerThis other VW dealership treats their customer with respect
