July 18, Dear *** ***:We tried to reach out to *** *** on several occasions as you read in the past response from*** *** had both a manufacturers warranty and a labor warranty with Atlas on her ac unitNow that she had another company perform some kind of work on it, we have no idea what they did to her syslamIf *** *** would like Atlas to rafund her $635.00, we gladly will with all labor warranties voided from Atlas, however her manufacturers warranty still remainsfor the record *** *** there is not a law for sending a payment to a private residence verses a business locationThat was not tha issue at hand, but for the future you should know that every VAC contractor company in the state of PA should have a license number, which shows that they are insurgd and regislered with the state and have it written on their service slipsThank you for your attention to this matter.Sincerely,Julie L*** - Controllar

Atlas is trying to help *** *** and has been speaking to the insurance company on his behalf* *** knows this

My year old mini-split heat pump system wore outAtlas came promptly when I called the phone number of a repairman I had used beforeThis is the only thing they did rightThey just have the phone number: it is not a legitimate referralThey insisted on a full paid service call before pronouncing the unit unrepairableThe price of replacement was $higher than the other quotes I received They submitted the credit card charge twiceStay away from these shysters

After checking *** ***' unit, unfortunately her contactor was burnt and the wires in her condenser had meltedShe had a dirty filter so that is why our technician recommended an EAC (Electronic Air Cleaner)Her unit's filter should be changed every months per manufacturer
specifications, however we do advise our customers that every days is easier to remember and helps even more in keeping the unit working properlyBy *** *** not changing her filter is most likely what caused her problem with her unit in the first place

After *** Insurance did their investigation, they came to a conclusion and denied *** ***'s claim. Also *** *** said we placed the copper tubing line, however Atlas did not replace it and just used his existing

May 16, Dear ***:Our technician came to ***s house on february 14, *** was aware that there was a problem with his existing chimney, which caused the damage to his heat exchangerAtlas put in a chimney liner to correct this problem so the new heat
exchanger would not get destroyedThe parts from *** (manufacturer) are very hard to obtain because the distributors do not sell the parts in our area any moreThe only way to have access to these parts is to order them from the manufacturer directly, which takes approximately lead-time of days to be made and then there is the freight shipping of to daysIt is also a minimum of days to a maximum of days to receive the partAtlas informed all of this to *** in and that he would be without heat for a few daysThe shipping prices are from $to $each way and then you have to pay for the heat exchanger to ship back to *** furnace for warranty (which the homeowner will pay again)An additional $to $minimum is the shipping price for the heal exchanger and it may cost more due to Atlas does not ship as often as a manufacturer shipsNow add in the price of the blower motor, liner and the labor to install both the motor and the liner(takes two men to approximately a full day to do all the labor) This is why Atlas recommended the new furnace, which comes with a year labor from Atlas and years on all parts from the manufacturer to the original homeowner***s old unit did not have any warranty except for the heat exchanger*** in decided to replace the furnace and add the chimney liner not AtlasManufacturers do not cover the labor, diagnosis and shipping so it is the homeowners responsibility to pay for these ***s parts except for the heat exchanger of the *** unit were out of warranty and that is why Atlas recommended replacing the heater and adding the chimney linerHis new heater comes with a 10-year warranty from the manufacturerWhen ***s heater was installed the gas pressure was tested and the heater and chimney liner were both working perfectly*** called our office wo days after the heater was installed and running because he said there was a problemOur technician ** went to his house and found the gas pressure to his heater was low and advised *** in to call the gas companyThe new heater was recommended due to the chimney issue and the damaged heat exchanger Not the gas pressure. If you have any further questions please feel free to call my manager *** at the main office at ***Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.Sincerely,

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: Atlas failed to complete the job we hired them to doAtlas failed to re-seal the line that ran from the outside of our unit to the inside unit (That they did replace)This resulted in allowing mice to come into our basement and invade our living space causing damageAtlas has agreed to me that they should have sealed this line but does not want to cover the problems caused from their negligenceOnce this line was sealed we were able to gain control over the mice and remove themWe will now need to to repair all damages caused I ran a business out of my basement from until last fallNot one time did we ever have any problems with mice until we had Atlas come install a complete A/C and heat system. Thanks for your incompetence Atlas Way to stand behind your workmanship or lack there ofWe will be sure to spread the word.

Dear [redacted],I am rejecting the enclosed response from Atlas Heating and Cooling. Two people did come to the house 5/23/14. The first technician supposedly filled the AC unit with Freon. The house was not cooling down with the air running. Please note the outside temperature was 76 degrees as stated on the enclosed chart printed from the accuweather website. I called Atlas again /23/14 to complain the house was not cooling down and was told by Ruth the house needed time to cool off bc the air has not been used all season. That did not sound right to me so I called back and another technician came out later in the day. He could not figure out what the problem was and supposedly topped off the AC unit with Freon.I was tired of calling Atlas about the air conditioner and getting nowhere. I decided to call someone else that maybe knew what they were doing. Apparently the new service knew what they were doing. They replaced an incorrect orifice that was installed by Atlas with the new heater, a liquid service valve, an O ring and topped off the unit with Freon. Please see the enclosed receipt from Mike S[redacted].Thank you for your assistance.Sincerely,

Dear [redacted],I received the refund payment of 635.00.[redacted] Hvac corrected the issue Atlas Heating and Cooling was not able to.I understand and accept the labor warranties are voided with Atlas Heating and Cooling.Thank you very much for your help with this matter.Sincerely,[redacted]

After checking [redacted]' unit, unfortunately her contactor was burnt and the wires in her condenser had melted. She had a dirty filter so that is why our technician recommended an EAC (Electronic Air Cleaner). Her unit's filter should be changed...

every 3 months per manufacturer specifications, however we do advise our customers that every 30 days is easier to remember and helps even more in keeping the unit working properly. By [redacted] not changing her filter is most likely what caused her problem with her unit in the first place.

This business is a complete scam. I had them come out because my air conditioning unit stopped working on a weekend. They are an emergency responder and my regular guy is not (been using him over 10 years). Atlas told us the system is losing freon. He said the coils are bad and he can replace them for 2500 with a five year warranty or I can get a whole new unit for 4500 with a ten year warranty. We asked about a shot of freon to get us through, he said it would cost 500 and it would not work. We told him we would wait to have our regular guy look at it and he became rude and obnoxious saying "well what did you call me for." And bad mouthing the regular guys business. Turns out we had the regular guy out and he looked over the system and said we are slightly short of freon and he sees no further issue with the system. He gave it a shot of freon and it's cold as ice in here. Guess how much.... 90 dollars. Atlas was clearly up selling and trying to take advantage of quick response and 90 degree weather to empty our pockets. Disgraceful business practice. Please beware of this dishonest business and look else where for your service. 90 dollars is a big difference from the thousands atlas was trying to charge. BAD BUSINESS!!!!!

Dear [redacted]:It was documented on 5/23/14 that [redacted] unit with charged with R-22 and the outside temperature of 70 degrees. The system was running fine. If som et hing was wrong with ths unit, fhe homeowner [redacted] should have called the office immediately. We...

would of come out free of charge to her. [redacted] said he wrong orfice was in the unit and that is why her freon leaked. This cannot be true due to the orfice can only meter the flow of freon, not causing the unit to leak whatsoever. Our office did try to call [redacted] twice.Sincerely,
Julie L[redacted]

On the day which [redacted] called the office it was the first heatwave of the season. Our office had no record of needing a ladder for her unit.  Our technician was on the roof with [redacted] and heard a humming noise coming from the contactor, which is normal...

(you do not want to hear a ticking sound). The technician also told [redacted] that the breaker was tripped and that is why when he was on the roof and did a OHM resistance test of her compressor and the ratings were higher than normal.         [redacted]'s inside air handler is made by Fedders, however Fedders no longer makes central air equipment.  Her unit is approximately thirty plus years old and its evaporator was dirty. Also outside a/c [redacted] unit on the roof is a twenty plus years and did not have a disconnect on the unit which is required by hvac CODE to have. The sear rating was mismatched and the phase out of R-22 freon started in 2004 which her a/c system in question uses. The new freon 410A which is ozone friendly can NOT be used in the old equipment such as [redacted]'s.      The average life of an a/c system is approximately fifteen years old. There are different prices of different units depending on their efficiencies and for air handlers as well.  We priced [redacted] on the a 15 seer a/c system & 14 seer a/c system only. The lower the seer the less efficient of a unit.      We refunded [redacted] her service charge of $89 to her credit card and spoke to her directly about such. Atlas would never do what [redacted] said in her last paragraph. She can not use her system without using the new freon amongst not having a disconnect. Any knowledgeable contractor will tell her the same thing.
