understand [redacted] contacted you about the design [redacted] hired Atlas Home Group, LLC to build for a house he was already in the process of purchasing. I apologize that you have been involved as We worked with [redacted] to try to resolve his concerns. I'd like to provide some background on the...

project.[redacted] and initially met on March 28 to discuss his project from a high level and we both agreed that it made sense to pay a designer to come out and help, because he was interested in a major project without any construction plans. During the initial meeting, he mentioned that some of the work on the project he planned on doing himself, and the scope was not very clear. For example, we initially did not discuss major modifications to the pantry, but by the end of the project that was added into the scope. During the design, gave [redacted] a call because noticed that the project was increasing in size and going to exceed his $30,000 budget, and after that discussion, there were many exchanges back and forth after with design changes, and no indication to us that the budget was a problem. After finalizing the design, gave [redacted] access to those drawings and after many exchanges there was still no indication that he was no longer going to do some of the work himself. In fact, after we presented the design, per his request, we made changes to the design that would increase the budget. At this point we had completed the design that he paid $1,000 to have us develop, but we continued to help because there was no indication from him that this project was not moving forward. As I understand it, there came a point a couple of weeks after we presented the design where [redacted] talked to his loan broker and he said [redacted] would have trouble getting the loan if he did some of the work himself. I was very disappointed to hear that, because we had a lot of time and effort invested in the project, like [redacted] had, but we can't be responsible for the loan process. [redacted] was already under contract with the house before we initially met, and we were not involved in the loan process, we were only hired for the design, which we delivered. There are also inconsistencies with the concern, because initially [redacted] told me that he took our design and found a contractor to do it for $30,000, and wanted us to match the price. While we regretto hear this, it is perfectly acceptable to take the design he paid us to develop and go to contractors for additional bids. More recently, however, he said that he is not doing the project because we cannot do the entire job for $30,000. This is the reason that we do the design to help define the scope of work and the budget, before starting the project and making change order after change order.I know [redacted] was also disappointed that the loan didn't go through, and we tried to help by staying very involved after we finished the design, but wholeheartedly believe that we have fulfilled our obligation, going above and beyond the typical scope of a design project. For example, after delivering the finalAtlas Home Group, LLC [redacted]www.Atlas HG.com design, we made multiple revisions to the design because [redacted] had new ideas, and I even spent half of a day working with his loan officer filling out paperwork when [redacted] mentioned the project wasn't going to come to fruition if he couldn't get the loan. It pains me to hear [redacted] is so unsatisfied because Customer service is something that take very seriously, but the budget concerns were not expressed after we finished the design, or even after we added to the scope of work, but only after the loan did not come through. Unfortunately, as a design company, there is only so much we can do to help with the loan process.I am available anytime to discuss this further. My personal cell is listed below.Sincerely,[redacted]Atlas Home Group, LLC [redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. [redacted] sidestepped my complaint altogether. My complaint is that he could not deliver on what he promised me on March 28: to renovate two spaces as discussed for $30,000. In fact, he could not even complete 1 renovated space for $30,000. He never addressed my complaint, and I believe he did that purposefully so that he wouldn't have to admit that he told me this.He claims that I did not talk about a pantry remodel on our initial visit. I talked to 2 other contractors before him, and the pantry re-model was always part of the plan, so I know that I showed him the pantry/laundry/bathroom area that needed remodeled. My wife was there with us, and she will not hesitate to tell you that there is no way in hell she was going to live in that house without a pantry/laundry remodel. Even without the pantry remodel he still could not even deliver on his promise of even completing the upstairs renovation for $30,000! Again, he doesn't address my complaint. He claims that I took his design to other contractors for bids and found one that could do it for less than $30k. I believe we had a miscommunication over the phone. I told him that before we met him we showed our project to 2 other contractors, and one of them said he could do the project for $26k. The reason I did not hire that contractor was because he did not get his bid back to me for 3 weeks; I did not feel comfortable hiring a contractor who moves so slowly. He falsely claims that my loan was not approved- he knows good and well that my loan was approved. The house also appraised on-target to greenlight our 203k renovation loan. I have attached the appraisal report to support this. I lost my $1,000 deposit on the house because my loan WAS approved, but I had to back out of my contract to purchase because [redacted] couldn't do what he said he could do. If my loan had been denied, HUD would have refunded my deposit and I wouldn't be asking [redacted] for a refund. But again, he still refuses to acknowledge my actual complaint.
