I have been using Liberty Medical for my diabetic testing supplies for yearsI recently ran out of testing strips and placed an order over the phone that they were to ship overnight to meEvening the following day and my order had not arrivedI called Liberty to request a tracking number and was told that they no longer contracted with my insuranceNo one bothered to call me to let me know that the order had not shipped
There are better companyies to do business with. Ask your insurance company for names of other companies. For years we were getting our sonâs insulin pump supplies from a company in Virginia and had no complaints with their service. Late in 2006 Liberty Medical took over this other company. In the last couple of years when I have had to call them I would get passed around to another department who âcan handle my request.â I donât even know which phone number I should call any more. But the âstraw that broke the camelâs backâ occurred in 2014. In January 2014 Liberty Medical sent us an order of supplies that we did not approve. They had no problem allowing us to return the shipment and sent us a return label to send it back at no expense to us. But on April 22, 2014, we received a bill for our co-payment on that order. I called them immediately and was told that there was a note on the account that noted the return and âneed to refund Healthkeepers.â I was told that my portion would be credited. The refund to the Healthkeepers was posted on 4-1-14. And I confirmed with Healthkeepes that they did receive their refund. Yet we received a bill for our co-payment on April 22, May 20, and again July 25, 2014!! And we received robo calls from them sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. I believe that I spoke to customer service twice. In May they sent a letter to us threatening to turn us over to a collection agency. My husband spoke to them on May 27, 2014, and asked for written documentation when the account was credited. We never received documentation. With each phone call we were told that the account was being corrected. On July 27, 2014, I was told that someone âdid not process the credit correctlyâ and that it will be corrected. It seems that their billing office doesnât know what they are doing. We will wait and see. We will no longer be using Liberty Medical Supply and I would recommend to everyone to use an alternate company. I have already received a name of another medical supply company that we will buy from in the future.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last week and called my insurance company to see if the meter and testing supplies would be covered. They told me if I ordered from Liberty medical the cost would be covered 100% and gave me the number. I called them on Friday and answered all of their questions and they told me they would call the doctor and obtain a prescription andI would have my order in a few days. On Monday I got a robo call stating that "they had been trying" to reach me - I checked the recents on my cell phone and they had only called that one time, then I called them back. They said I had not supplied all the irequested informationa nd they needed a prescription from my doctor. I had answered all their questions Friday including providing a phone and fax # for my doctor. At their request I hung up and called the doctors office and found out that the doctor would be out until Tuesday - but she was there all day Friday and they could have called her that day. I left a message for the doctor with the the info they had provided to me and on Tuesday the doctors office faxed in the prescription. One Wednesday I got another robo call saying the same thing as before so I called and was told my doctor had provided insufficient info for them to send the meter and testing supplies - so I called the doctors office and they said they had provided exactly what Liberty had asked for. I called Liberty again and was told the doctor was not telling the truth!! I asked iftheyw ould call the doctors office while I held and ask the questions themselves and they said they couldn't do that because it was done at another office - they transferred me to that department after I insisted and I went over the entire situation again and got her to call the doctors office while I waited. I have no idea at this point if I will ever receive the order. I can't afford to go out and spend a hundred dollars on this and why should I when my insurance co will cover this 100% if it comes from Liberty. I do wonder if the insurance co is aware of how difficult this company is to deal with I have read multiple complaints about this company online and wonder why I am forced to deal witht hese people. They are very rude and very uncarring and I am beginning to wonder if I will ever get the supplies. I have read horror stories where they have incorrectly billed insurance companies and then started billing the customer instead and even turning people over for collection. I plan to contact my insurance company as well and see if they will make an arrangement with a better supplier so that I can get these paid for by the insurance company I am paying premiums to. There are local stores, chain stores, etc. here that sell all of these items and I pass [redacted] on the way home every day - why I can't use Walgreen's I don't know. Liberty Medical needs to improve their customer service - but at this point, nearly a week down the road , they are starting to look very dishonest to me (and I haven't told you half of the issues - I've had to call them over 7 times with a time investment of 45-60 minutes for each call).
