Review: The tax preparer did my taxes in 2010 incorrectly with using credits that couldn't be used with one another. I have been receiving audits and interest in the amount owed since 2010. When I contacted Just Taxes they attempted to charge me more money for their mistakes. They than filed a court appointment for me in that statement even though I notified them that I moved out of state. The tax court in that state then requested my presence even though I moved across the country. This business is not professional.Desired Settlement: Refund of money paid for the service

Response:

On March 4th 2015 our office received a complaint filed with your office from the above mentioned Taxpayer.Mr. [redacted] filed his 2010 tax return using our firm. When our office submits a tax return we ask all of our clients to provide written and/or oral testimony for every deduction or credit l isted on their return. Also, all clients are required to review and sign for their tax return agreeing that everything listed is 100% true, accurate, and correct. This is considered a legallybind I ng signature by the U.S. Government. Mr. [redacted] did exactly this and paid $ 100.00 for the services rendered. In 20 13 Mr. [redacted] was audi ted by the IRS for his 20 10 tax return. Upon beingaudi ted our office completed 4 hours of work advocating and submittin g documentation to the IRS on Mr. [redacted] 's behalf. We billed him $125.00 for the work completed regarding this but never received payment. We made numerous attempts from April of 2013 thru October of 20 14 to reach the client via phone and mail with no success. In November of 2014 Mr. [redacted] contacted our office and advised us that he paid the entire audit amount requested to the IRS and requested that we reimburse that entire amount back to him. Our office declined his request. It I s our policy to reim burse clients any interest and penalties incurred due to any error made by our office staff. This is not the case with Mr. [redacted]. Our staff listed only what was reported by Mr. [redacted] on his 2010 tax return. Upon being audited he could not prove that what he advised us to list on his tax return was true and correct. Furthermore Mr. [redacted] is requesting to be reimbursed moneys that he never paid for work completed. Per the conversation our office had with Mr. [redacted] in Novem ber of 2014 we agreed to dismiss the bill of $ 125.00 for the work our office completed due to him being dissatisfied the service provided. We feel this was more than fair and have tried to the best of our ability to accommodate Mr. [redacted].
