ATS Electric, Inc. Reviews (1)

I had ATS Electric come out to install 1 electrical box and secure a second which had come loose over time. The work done was fine and I was very satisfied. Nick was the electrician that was at my home. When I arranged for the service call I had also asked for a quote to run a 220 and 110 line to a shed that was being built in my backyard. I stood in the spot and showed him exactly where it was to be located. We discussed how the line would need to be run. I was unsure about adding a 110 line but he said the cost was minimal because it would be run in the same product that the 220 line was also be run in so I decided to add the 110 line. He quoted Approx $300 - $350. We also discussed a quote of running the line to my garage for comparison of price. To the garage he discussed there would be several bends in the supplies so the cost would be much higher, approx. $900.00 We agreed the best way via cost is to run the lines to my shed in the backyard. He said he could give me the quote in writing but I didn't need it since it would be available. I unfortunately did not get it in writing, I trusted him. Since he performed good work so far I called ATS and scheduled the time to install the two lines. A different electrician from the same company came out this morning and he informed me that the cost would be $1500 not $350. He called the office and spoke to Ben, the Service Manager and was told they could not do it for the original amount since I did not have it in writing. Ben said he spoke to Nick, the original person that gave the $350 quote and Nick told him I didn't know what I wanted or needed and didn't know the size of my kiln. Well, that's a lie since the Kiln is in my garage and I am very familiar with it and have the spec sheets on everything to do with it. I also have a second kiln so I am very familiar with them and know exactly what I need. Then Ben said when Nick gave me a quote for the job he only quoted labor hours not materials. Does ATS only quote labor hours when they give quotes, I doubt it!! That's ridiculous. I understand backing your employee, as an employer myself I would always stand up for my employee but I would also admit when a mistake was made and do the right thing and follow up with coaching afterwards. If he had offered to review the situation and compromise on the cost I would have most likely paid the higher amount so we both felt like we were getting a better end of the deal but instead he accused my of lying, being a complainer and told me to never use ATS Electrical again. He accused me of complaining because of the original service call they asked what I needed done and I explained I needed an electrical box installed on my backyard patio. Nick did not have the proper box to install outside and he charged me for the time to go to Home Depot. I asked to not be charged for the time he took to go to Home Depot when they specifically asked me what work I needed so he could have the proper equipment on the truck. I believe Nick did a bad quote and instead of the company trying to make a resolution we could both live with Ben just argued and asked me to never use them again which of course with my perception of their customer service I would never consider using them again.
