Review: ATS dba Platepass overcharged me on my credit card.

They are not in their office on the stated office hours for their 800 number

They systematically have overcharged 1000's of consumers, unknowingly, $10 at a time.Desired Settlement: I would like to have an audit done of Platepass' invoices to look for overcharges.

I would like to have American Traffic Solutions agree to have an auditor look at their consumer invoices for overcharges.

I would like to have ATS correct the systemic overcharges for all of their customers.

Review: I am an [redacted] resident. I was in [redacted] visiting a family member stationed at [redacted]. I landed at RDU and rented a car from [redacted] car rental. Being my first visit there, I was unaware of the open tolling policy of the state and the lack of ability to pay the tolls as you drive through them. Neither the open tolling policy or the administrative fees were made clear by the representative that supplied the rental. It was a surprise to learn of the open tolling as we started our drive. After my return I reached out to the [redacted] tolling department to submit payment for the tolls but was told they could locate the vehicle information. Then I received a bill from [redacted] in the amount of $48.28 for the 3 tolls I went through. The tolls totaled $3.28 and there was a $45 administrative fee. That is more than 1350% of the cost of the toll. I am astounded at these charges and the fact that they were not transparently disclosed. Otherwise I would have chosen a different company. I believe this to be an extremely unfair practice.Desired Settlement: Bill to be adjusted but more importantly adequate and transparent disclosure regarding open tolling as well as administrative fees to future renters.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. I hope in the future the business will consider instituting policies and employee training that ensure renters will have full disclosure and transparency of fees related to open tolling.

Review: I was double billed for use of toll roads in [redacted]. [redacted] asked me to provide the itemized billing (with time-stamps) to prove that my [redacted] was activated before the 1st [redacted] charge. I provided the bill from [redacted]. No action was taken. I called and was asked to send it again....still no action. I have sent them the information 4 or 5 times now. They just ignore me, don't reply to e-mails and now none of their phone numbers work (on the website, and the one listed with Revdex.com).Desired Settlement: Please refund the charge. I did what was asked to prove that I already had an active [redacted] transponder and the [redacted] billing was in error. It is dishonest and unethical to refuse to refund the charge. Nor should I have to keep requesting this over and over.

Regards,

I rented a car last month and a month was charged a fee for 26.00 from PLATEPASS Hertz. PLATEpass claims that Hertz was supposed to tell me that the vehicle was equipped with plate pass, however I paid cash the toll each time. Now I am disputing with Hertz the fee, thankfully my credit card company will not hold me responsible for the fees, but what a frustrating experience!

Review: I was billed $79.99 for toll usage. The issue is, I have my own EZ-pass and did not use theirs. They claim I was somewhere in [redacted] at 4:15pm and in [redacted] at 7:35pm on 10/15/2015. I was never in [redacted], and in fact my own EZ pass has me in [redacted] at 8:28 PM. The issue is, [redacted] and [redacted] are hundreds of miles apart so how can they say I was in [redacted] at 7:35 pm when I was in **? The charges are false, I was never in the locations they claim I was and they do not seem to want to remove the charges. Furthermore, they did not contact me, they just charged my credit card without my permission. I find this to be fraud.Desired Settlement: Full refund to my credit card.

Regards,

Plate Pass has recently charged an employee $4.95/day to NOT use a toll booth just because they had a rental car, on top of the toll charge. I don't believe charging customers "just in case" they go through their toll on top of the actual fee for driving through their toll should be legitimate. How could we possibly owe Plate Pass $4.95 for a day of not driving through a toll booth? When called to ask about these "fees" customer service did not have a clear answer for these charges. They do not seem legitimate. I would at least like a better answer for where these fees are going.

Review: While vacationing in [redacted] we had a rental car from [redacted] While driving on the I4 Connnector we were forced to use platepass as there was no cash toll. Had there been a cash toll I would have used it.

Platepass then proceeded to charged me $24.75 on one .77 cent toll. Why should I have to pay service fees of that magnatude when I am being forced to use Platepass.

Upon returning the vehicle to [redacted] I asked about having to use Platepass, and the Hertz representative told me that I would be charged for the toll amount ONLY. So not only was I forceably charged for something, but was also lied to by [redacted]Desired Settlement: To pay for the toll only.

Review: This company has charged my credit card $62 without authorization. They claim I was in Aurora,CO on the 470 for 3 toll charges on Sept. 26th when was in Chicago,IL. This company provides no proof and demands you prove them wrong. As in court, they should bear the proof not the consumer.Desired Settlement: Refund plus 20% hassle fee!

Review: My wife rented a car at our dealer's service center while her car was being repaired. This was with [redacted], Rental Agreement [redacted], from 9/12 through 9/15/14. Shortly afterwards, we saw an unauthorized charge on our debit card for $68.55 made by PlatePass. Upon investigating this charge, PlatePass provided an invoice that claimed that the rental car had $68.55 in tolls and fees, when in fact neither my wife, myself, nor the rental car were anywhere near any of these tollbooths anytime during that rental period. In fact, upon checking mileage with GoogleMaps, just to drive from the rental point to each of the toll plazas in turn (and nowhere else in between - i.e., sleeping in the car on the turnpike for hours between subsequent charges) would have EXCEEDED the number of miles that we had driven the car. I called PlatePass a month ago and asked them to remove the charges. When I called again today to inquire on the status, they said that I needed to provide documentation proving that we didn't drive through these tolls. Since I have no way of providing a document to prove a negative, I feel that this company is deliberately trying to rip off my wife and myself. How about them providing proof that we did? I demand a full refund from this company, and I further demand that [redacted] immediately provide an unsatisfactory rating on this company.Desired Settlement: A full refund of the $68.55 that was charged to my debit card. actually, they should also reimburse me for time spent on the phone trying to ttalk to them, as well as the time spent filing this complaint with you. Plus I demand an apology from the company for treating me like a criminal and considering me guilty unless I prove my innocence, as well as essentially stealing my money without authorization. We did not drive the car in the vicinity of those tollbooths, we could not physically drive through all those tollbooths wothout exceeding the total mileage of our rental. Isn't that proof enough?

Review: From November 19, 2014- November 28, 2014 I rented a car from Dollar under the Rental Agreement Number [redacted]. At the beginning of March I received a letter from the Dollar Rental Fine services with a bill of $112.65 for tolls and administrative fees regarding these tolls. The toll amount was $7.65 and I was charged $105.00 in administrative fees. The toll booths on the highways I had to use were the kind that mail you your bill- I did not have an option to pay cash or I would have. When I called the company to file a dispute regarding the charges, I was told that they would still honor the $95 toll pass option… I declined this offer because if I could have paid cash for the tolls, I would have. $100 for $7 tolls is unethical.Desired Settlement: I am requesting a billing adjustment of $90- in other words bringing the Total Amount Due to $22.65. (subtracting the toll charges and one administrative fee).

Business

Response:

Dear Customer, Thank you for contacting us regarding your concern. It is our goal to provide you with excellent customer service. We apologize for any misunderstanding. Many locations in Florida have switched to cashless tolling and we understand you may have been unaware of travelling on a cashless toll road. As a courtesy we have adjusted $90 from the balance due, bringing your new balance to $22.65. Again, thank you for contacting us and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Review: I rented a vehicle from [redacted] at [redacted] on July 12 through July 21st. I paid for my rental time and everything was fine(so I thought). There was a charged on 8/11/14 from Platepass [redacted] Tolls for $27.35. When I questioned them about this charge they told me that there were two tolls that I did not paid while I was using the vehicle in [redacted]. I explained that I did paid for all my tolls in cash and never used the platepass. So, they are charging me $1.30 for two days plus $24.75 administrative fee. I said that it wasn't a fair charge because I NEVER used a toll without paying for it. So, it is pretty much my word against theirs because obviously who asked for a receipt when paying for a toll charge? Then [redacted] a CSR proceed to try to refund me $24.75 which is the administrative fee that I would only paid the $2.60 for the tolls. Then only $19.80 which is the amount minus a day charge of $4.95 and $2.60. Then I asked to speak to a supervisor and he then said that they will only refund me $14.85 which is the amount minus two days of $4.95 each and $2.60. I want a total refund of $27.35 because I never used a toll without paying for it. They are not doing honest business. Only God knows how many customers get charge fees without their knowledge.I want my money back and report them to your company because it is a dishonest way to do business. That is all I am asking and I need your help. Thank you in advance for your assistance on this matter.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my full refund of $27.35 because when I rented the vehicle I was clearly told that I would only paid if I used the service. Which I never used.

This company is legally stealing from people, hyenas waiting for you to make a mistake so that they can charge you $25 for a 75 cent missed toll. I don't understand why any car rental company would associate with them. Thieves!!

Review: I was charged for a toll of .75 and then charged for 6 days of an administrative fee for the platepass on a rental car.

First of all I paid each and every toll in cash and second I did not have any agreement with platepass. They just charge you an administrative fee for a service you didn't even ask for or agree to use? This is total unfair business practices.

And this is the second time that this has happened to me.Desired Settlement: Refund and the car rental (Hertz) should explain everything in detail regarding the platepass and have you sign an agreement. Nothing was told to me when I picked the car up.

Review: After renting a car from [redacted] I received a bill for $22.30 for two tolls totalling $2.50. THIS IS COMPLETELY ABUSIVE and I did not agree to a "Service Fee" of $4.95 per day.

I rent cars ALL THE TIME and always get billed for the tolls through the rental company. This was my first time renting through Hertz, and they somehow enabled this company to levy ABUSIVE fees.

To say I am livid is an understatement.Desired Settlement: I would like a credit for the unauthorized "service fee" I was charged, which totaled $19.80.

I rent from [redacted] every week. Twice in the last 6 months I have seen incorrect credit card charges from Plate Pass. There is no easy way to determine what rental agreement the charge relates to leaving me struggling to determine why I was charged and on the phone with customer service for 10 minutes each time as we they try to figure out why I was charged. The first charge of $27 was for a toll way in Florida when I had rented the car from Maryland and had stayed in Maryland my entire trip. The second charge was for $47 and was for a toll way in NY when again I was in Maryland the whole time. I have/will be refunded but I don't want to have to keep checking my credit cards every month. It seems very unreliable and then very difficult to determine why you are charged. I am going to look at switching to a different rental car company that does not use plate pass if that's an option.

Review: I rented a vehicle with [redacted]. This company, aka PlatePass first charged my credit card without authorization and without providing any details to me prior to charging my credit card.

Next issue, I did exactly as instructed by [redacted] in I placed the rental vehicle license plate in my toll tag account. I was charged by the [redacted] each time I drove on a toll road when I had the rented vehicle incurring no charge through this company. I have detailed records from the [redacted] showing when I was charges and when I placed the rented vehicle tags into my account. Despite this, they charged me additional inaccurate charges. They charges me $1.91 for a toll charge that I already paid and an administrative fee of $24.75.

All of these charges need to be repaid. I am disputing the original charge mentioned previously. This company does nothing but charge excessive invalid amounts to customers. I do realize they have paid for their A+ rating by paying for the accreditation but someone needs to hold them accountable. I do reserve the right to begin or join a class action suit despite paying and despite this report.Desired Settlement: Revdex.com remove the A+ rating since there are 200+ complaints.

[redacted]/ATS Processing Services ([redacted].[redacted].[redacted]). After our trip I received a letter informing me that I had not paid a toll fare on a highway in Colorado. I wrote back that we were never in Colorado, only ID, MT and WA, with a short trip to the airport in Portland, OR. Now I discover that my VISA has been charged to cover this fraudulent claim. I have responded to them that I wasn't anywhere near Colorado on the appointed day, and asked for an immediate refund. Of course, I can document that we were staying in Olympic National Park in Washington on that day, but I resent being hassled and wonder how frequent this ploy is. Should I suspect to suspect a scam operation?

Review: Rented a vehicle with the understanding at the counter that I was paying for 2 toll passes and if I needed any additional passes, I was to contact a *-[redacted] number which I was given. After using the 2 passes, I called to get a third. Upon my return home, I received a violation notice for 2 unpaid toll passes. After inquiring I was told that the car rental agreement did not have any such payment for tolls upon rental. I explained what was told to me at the desk that day but this was given no consideration. I offered to pay the tolls but I feel I should not be charged for administration fees which were twice the amount of the tolls. Another complaint I have is that upon reserving the rental vehicle, I was not informed ahead of time that I needed to provide an insurance card so I would not be charged additional insurance. This whole experience has ended up adding $150 additional unforeseen costs.Desired Settlement: I am going to pay the violation notice - if a reimbursement of the administration fees plus insurance charges provided I forward a certificate of insurance for that travel time could be arranged I would be satisfied.

Review: I recently rented a car from [redacted]. During the rental period, I used an [redacted] provided by the rental company. Paying for the toll charge during my usage of the car is completely understandable. However, I should not be subjected to paying anything else such as processing or admin fee. Review: I Had toll charges of $4.71 for one day in [redacted] and administrative charges of $105, which is a rip off. I tried to get a [redacted] tag for tolls, but the Tag agency said they cannot open an account for rental cars, and I have to deal with rental car companies. There are no cash payment facilities in [redacted]. The rental car companies are ripping off renters by taking advantage of [redacted] tag system deficiencies. This is a problem affecting all car rental clients.Desired Settlement: The administrative charges should be one time reasonable fee for the complete rental and not for every toll incidence.
