Review: On October 28th I noticed I had a flat tire while traveling on [redacted] Street. I was driving North on [redacted] Street, and had just passed [redacted] avenue. I pulled into the first and safest place I could, a driveway and parking lot near [redacted] Street. There is not a lot of level ground here, and it was nearly dark, so I pulled into a mostly empty gravel lot to change the tire. I changed it (thanks to my dad for teaching me!) and walked down the street to find a place to wash my hands. I was gone no more than 10 minutes and returned to find my car had been towed.
When I returned, I did notice that there was a sign on the far side of the lot, facing a location where I could not see it, a second sign was just feet away from the first, affixed to the wall also not visible when walking out of the lot and to the south. [redacted] County laws state:
"Sufficient numbers of signs must be posted permanently so that at least one sign is clearly readable from each parking area and each vehicle entrance to the property at all times"
http://www.amlegal.com/nxt/gateway.dll/Maryland/montgom/partiilocallawsordinance...⇄ />
No signs were posted at the vehicle entrance at all, and the other two signs that were posted are not visible when cars are parked there.
I walked to the address listed on the sign and talked to the guys out front who told me to call their office. I did and the woman was spectacularly unhelpful. I told her that I was a distressed vehicle in an emergency situation, that I had been parked less than 10 minutes in the (alleged) private lot, and that the car had been towed less than a tenth of a mile and asked for her assistance. She was extremely rude and unhelpful. She basically told me that I should have parked in the street to change my tire and that there was nothing she could do and no one above her that I could speak to to ask for assistance.
I was willing to pay just to get the heck out of there, but I asked her for information on who to speak with about how to get my money back once I provided proof of the illegal tow/improper signage. Her answer was 'you can do what you want'. Literally those were the words she used as a suggestion for how I go about getting resolution on her company's predatory tow. I asked for an explanation as to what that meant and she just kept repeating herself 'do what you want'. I honestly still do not have any idea what that means.
I told her that I was going to call the police because my vehicle was improperly towed. I walked back to the lot again and read the sign on the gate that says they will take credit cards, but she just kept saying $165 CASH ONLY. At this point I had no other route to go so I called the police.
The police arrived and assessed the scene. Officers came and agreed with me, and they attempted to speak to the guy at the gate, but he could do nothing. The officer gave me his card, an event number and suggested I get in touch with the Revdex.com.
This company is predatory and has bad business practices. The "manager" (who claimed she was the end of the line on decisions at the company) outright LIED to me about both cash only and the cost (the total legally allowed is $124 and they are required to take credit cards according to [redacted] County Tresspass Tow regulations) but they had absolutely zero regard for safety by implying that I should have changed my tire in the street on [redacted] Ave after dark, during rush hour.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the charges. I am able to provide photo proof of improper signage at the location from which I was towed and receipts for the replaced tire.
Review: We gave notice to the towing company that we will no longer use their services effective September 15th of this year based on their not coming back to correct poorly painted curbs and not completing the striping as stipulated in the contract. They towed two cars last night that were new move in's although we had verbally asked them to refrain from towing from our lot. After asking them to release the cars, they stated this would not be done unless the residents paid. After bringing up the point of our asking not to have cars towed as well as the improper painting of our parking lot, they stated they would cease anything on our contract effective immediately and that they would not repair the lot and the car owners would have to pay to get their cars released.Desired Settlement: Return the cars to the residents that were towed and repair the damage done to our parking lot.
Review: Wrongfully charged a drop fee and want my money returned by towing company.
On Saturday May 17, 2014 while at my brothers apartment. I looked out the window to see my car in the process of being towed. I/we ran out and asked him to not tow my car as I am visiting and were about to leave.
The car had been started as we were about to leave as it has an automatic start vehicle. The tow person did not have the car slightly lifted to the rear but he did not have the car hitched but he had me blocked in! He also was not in the process of putting the dolly’s on the front wheels. He told me he could charge me a drop fee of $50.00 or more. I felt that something was off when my car was not even lifted. He, merely had the two wheels slightly lifted in the back, no chains attached.
The tow refused to move and asked that someone sign the ticket and pay. He also informed me although I was angry the” car was not even my car”? I informed him it was my car and to not tow me for visiting. He informed me I were a grown-assed woman and acting like a fool”. I in turn was rude back to him. At one point he threated to call the police as I repeatedly asked him to not tow me. I told him to go ahead to call the police cause he did not call the police. He became nastier after we paid him the $50.00 dollars, used profanity as I did back to him and then he moved so that we could leave. Not only that after looking at his ticket he wrote he falsified information to justify his behavior stating that there were no permit or sticker on the car!
Upon arriving home I called the company itself and got someone on the phone. Initially, he held the phone and would not say anything. He then stated hello and I stated may I speak to some on in charge? Person on the phone at ATT towing stated w”hat do you need help with? I attempted to explain what had happened and asked his name, the person refused to give me his name, and then said to me that’s like if I wanted to know your name, that’s none of my business”? He then stated my name is Jose, he did not sound like a Jose. I thanked him and said good night. He was just as nasty as the driver that forced us to pay him $50.00 dollars. I want my money back.
[redacted]Desired Settlement: That my money be refunded. Person lied and die mnot adhere to towing codes.
Review: My vehicle was towed from in front of my parking complex sometime before 12:30am on October 8, 2013. I proceeded to locate the sign for the towing company and found that ATT Towing was the responsible party. On their signage, it also states that according to Maryland state law the vehicle must be available for reclamation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I promptly call the phone number listed on the sign (###-###-####) and it went straight to a forwarded number's voicemail (###-###-####) with no business information given--only the generic message with the phone number. After repeated calling both numbers for 45 min I finally received a call back from a third number, ###-###-####. The man on the other line asked me where my car was towed from and after I told him said he would call back in a minute, this was at 1:14am. I called the ###-###-#### number back at 2:07am and continued to make calls to all three numbers until 3:11am to no avail. All of my calls were sent to the ###-###-#### phone number's voice mail. When I called again at 6:01am someone finally answered the phone and then when I said that I had been calling since 12:30am regarding my towed vehicle the man who answered told me that I would have to wait until 10am to get my car. When I told him that was unacceptable he said there was no one available and then hung up on me.Desired Settlement: I do not feel that I should have to pay any of the towing fees as they have clearly violated my rights as a vehicle owner by denying me access to my vehicle for at least 10 hours. If payment has to be made in order for the car to be released to me at 10am then all fees should be reimbursed.
Review: My car was towed from [redacted] apartment [redacted] Md without authorization from a police officer or security guard on the night 6/14/13. Under Maryland law , the tow company must obtain specific authorization for each and every vehicle that is towed between the hours of 9 am and 2 am . My car was towed at 10:32 pm. I spoke with the officer that night and have written statement from him, who stated that he did not authorize the tow of my car.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund due to the predatory practice of towing my car.
