This client was referred to us for advice only After her initial office appointment we agreed to send a demand letter to her husband, per her understanding that he was responsible for cashing a disability retirementdistribution check in which resulted in an IRS tax lien deduction on her
return After e mail correspondence and discussion with her ex-husband we advised her that she should file an appeal of the tax taking and sent her a form 2428, Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative to her ex husband so that his accountant might investigate the matter furtherIt is my understanding she did not do so per my advice. At the same time I advised her of our estimated fees and costs to represent her any further and she declined to have myself represent her do to the unavailability of funds Our billing to her of $was far below our actual time, cost and expenses.
